Borrowing someone else’s watch

My Garmin recently broke and the replacement is going to take months, unhelpfully just at the time I need a watch for a marathon. I’m going to borrow my partners watch, then my plan is to upload onto his Strava and then add myself to the run... the question I have is, once I’ve added myself to the run, can we delete the run on his Strava (as he’s not actually running)? Or will mine disappear too then?

  • Hi Leonie, this is a really good question and I have the same problem this morning. Did you get an answer to the question?

  • Hey Justin, yes – it was all quite straightforward. I borrowed my bros watch in the end (also a Garmin), plugged it into my laptop via USB so I could see all the files, then found the 'raw' file that was my activity, by date and time (can't quite remember the file type, might have been a .tcx) and manually uploaded it on my Strava. Easy peasy!

  • You should be able to just add their "device" to your Garmin Connect app and then when you finish the run, just upload from your phone.  You can then remove the device from you app after you are done.
