Add option to set a default bike when training on ZWIFT or indoor trainer

Each time I ride on ZWIFT or the indoor trainer I need to change the default bike type to the one i use on my indoor trainer. It would be great to have a setting where you can define a different default bike for indoor trainers

  • And we have it.  Go to Settings > My Gear.  Select the gear to be default and save.  Easy peasy.

  • George. We don't have it. We want separate defaults for indoor vs. outside rides. Currently, we only have one default option. So every time we switch between riding outside vs. indoors, we have to change the bike. Rides from Zwift automatically default to "virtual ride," so we should be able to pick a default bike for virtual rides as well.

  • George, this lets you define a default bike...   The request is for a default indoor bike (trainer bike) and a default regular bike (the one you ride on the road).  If the ride is a virtual ride, the default bike would be the trainer bike, if it was an actual ride, the default bike would be the road bike.

  • Not quite that simple George. You want a default bike when you go out riding plus a default bike when you're on a turbo trainer. Strava knows when you're on a turbo so technically could determine a different bike you use indoor

  • I totally agree either Strava could have the option or to set automatically for all virtual rides coming over from Zwift. Or maybe Zwift could send through the turbo trainer bike details with the FIT file as a tag to change the Strava default?

It's just taken me well over 50 mins to change all my Virtual Rides to the TACX turbo plus each bike change is not possible through bulk edit on Strava.  I also found that not all activities were tagged with Virtual ride?  However you can change this from Ride to Virtual indiviually on the https://www.strava.com/athlete/training bulk edit screen.

Really hope that Zwift and Strava can work together on this in 2019?

  • I also would love this feature. It sucks having to remember to manually edit my bike choice for all indoor rides.

  • This is very much needed, annoying little "flaw".

It would also be nice to have the option to not use equipment at all which is possible in Garmin for instance. I.e. when I go to spin class (sport: virtual ride, tag: indoor cycling) it would be nice if it actually defaulted to nothing since that data is useless anyway. As it is now I have to have a dummy spin-bike, then manually change my default bike to this every time.

  • Should be a very simple feature to add for Strava to allow setting a default bike based on ride type. Question was already raised couple of years ago, but although this is the strava support section, you never see any reaction from strava support engineers to (in this case) an often recurring question raised by Strava users. Poor support if you ask me

  • Poor support is unlikely.  Most likely it's the priorities given to the programmers -- they don't have time to work on it.  Maybe some day it'll bubble up to be on a work ticket.

  • I want this feature to, but with the option to set a default mtb and road bike

I use my garmin forerunner for tracking my "road trips" and my garmin edge for mtb, so it would be cool if i could define one bike for each.

Or if i could define road and mtb in my garmin edge
