activity search

hello

I would like to suggest new feature:

activity search

where I could put data such as:

- distance

- city i traveled in (and the search would give also nearest activity to that city)

- by longest active time

- by shortest active time

  • they actually used to have "activity search" as a function but it disappeared about a year ago without any explanation.  likely due to the heat map/military base fiasco,  or maybe it invaded peoples' privacy.  either way it was THE MOST USEFUL aspect of strava and they dumped it without telling anyone or providing any other way to search through activities (heat map is NOT a substitute)      I personally used it to explore places to kayak or ski or mountain bike.  i used it to find these spots near my home and when traveling.  it was exciting exploring new places.  but heat map can't be used like that.  you can see tracks, but you have no real idea what the activity was....was it on a gravel bike or mountain bike?   what time of year was it ?  was there snow on the ground  etc.... you can't know these things (which are important when exploring new stuff)  by looking at the heat map,  only be viewing the original activity (and sometimes messaging the athlete to ask specific questions)

if you look through these forums,  the overwhelming theme is that there are things that thousands of people are asking for ( fixing training log,  better support for other sports)   that have been ignored for YEARS,   and the new changes (algorithm  feed ,  kudos stuff)  nobody wants or asks for....so be prepared to be ignored (because everyone wants activity search back)

  • It's a flipping nightmare trying to prep for races.
If I've done a route 8 months ago and go back to do it again, I want to know my stats from last time before I go. The only way to do it is to trawl back through millions of activities just to find the pace I want to beat.

Search functionality is a basic UX hygiene factor.

  • why do you have to scroll back through 8 months of activities to get the one you want to see? are you using the phone app?  on the website just click at the top training>training calendar  then pick the date you want to look at.  should take a few seconds.   the App is useless for actually analyzing any data compared to using the website.
