Age Bracket Recognition

Any given Segment may have 1000, 5000, 10000 riders and only two people are recognized for their efforts - KOM & QOM; that is poor! At a minimum the top riders in each age bracket should get a lower case kom or qom.  In addition, perhaps the top 1% of the 'all' riders should get an nKOM or nQOM (for near KOM/QOM) to recognize their stellar result - 10/1000, 50/5000, 100/10000 ……………. Strava was built on Segments, let's give credit to Segment results !

Secondly, how about a 'tab' next to KOMs/CRs on the profile page for 'Top Results' for every one.  The 'Top Results' could be based on age bracket results or 'all' riders results as selected by each individual.

  • I would like to be able to see 20,30,40... of my own top results based on my age bracket.

  • Hi Nick,

Thanks for posting. Did you know you can filter Leaderboards by age with the Summit Training Pack? You can read more about that here

    Cheers.

  • Jeff,

Of course I can see/filter reader boards and see how I compare - that is not 'recognition' in the way I described above.  Again, Strava is built on Segments, why not recognize that somehow like I mention above.  Top age group performances should be recognized as "Achievements" on the "Activity" page, and need to be compiled and shown on the profile page! They are as much or more an achievement then many or most of the challenges.

    Thanks,

    Rick

  • While we are at it, lets just give trophies to EVERYONE !!!!

  • We already are giving 'trophys' to everyone with PR's noted all over the place. Nothing for Age Group performance.

  • You can already sort by age group if you want. What happens when you age-up to another age group? Do you suddenly lose all those other age group trophies you have or do you get to get more trophies for the same segment?

  • Jason, thanks, but this is not about sorting. This is about getting age group recognition on your "Activity"s posts and getting age group recognition on your "Profile" page for top age group performances. There is none at this point.

It would be a sure way to improve user retention, being able to see new rewards as you move up the ages.

For old guys like me (a newby 66 yr old) it is virtually impossible to get a KOM competing with 25-35 year olds, no matter how well we perform.

  • I agree with the suggestion. I’m 67 and I do compare my results with others in my age bracket. However it would be great to see a OMOM award. Old Man Of the Mountain, with perhaps a bearded crown. :-)

  • OMOM, not a bad idea, Bob, thanks for seconding.  If not that, maybe an old goat kicking up its heels !

Would love to have a profile TAB showing my best efforts, and I think that would apply to all ages, the ability to see our best efforts on the profile page - even if not the top place.

  • A perfect example yesterday:  My wife and I went on a new ride (for us), a nice asphalt bike trail, a 25 miles out and back.  We rode at her pace, a little slower than mine, although I did one Segment surge. Per usual on a new route for my Strava app there were no achievements shown after downloading, in spite of the fact that I aced the Segment getting 1st out of the 128 riders my age over the last ten years, a real achievement – but zippo, nada.  Needless to say, when I go back to that ride, with just a little faster (but still easy) pace, I will get 10-15 “Achievements” for PRs, all perfectly fine; but still nothing for the real achievement of the Segment 1st.  It should show as an "Achievement" on the original “Activity”, and it should show on my “Profile” page as one of my top 20/30/50 results.

  • I just want to see live segment data against my age group (M 65-69).

  • Hi. This might seem a bit of a daft question. When you move to another age category, do you carry over your age PB (in my case into the 65+ bracket).
