  • Specific examples and details that illustrate the problem/confusion you are experiencing. For example: When I do ___, then ___ happens and that is not ok because ___.
  • Screenshots that help visually illustrate the problem. For example: Here is a picture illustrating my point ___ from above. See how ___ is doing ___?
  • An explanation of why this is important. For example: This is important to me because ___.
  • If you propose a solution, an explanation of how that solution would help you and why that is important. For example: I think a ___ would be great because then I could see ___. This is important to me because I have to ___.

If someone has already suggested the same idea as you, you can help us quantify the demand for the feature or improvement by upvoting the original comment. To upvote, click the up arrow on the right-hand side of the comment.

  • Navi - Regarding athletes that are tied for the LL crown, how about awarding the crown to the person who has reached that number in the shortest time within the 90-day window?  Say person A made 30 attempts on a segment spread evenly over the 90 days.  Person be makes 30 attempts on the segment just in the last 30 days.  Person B is clearly more regular on the segment in recent times, yet person A will have the crown because they got to 30 first.  Strava could first look at total attempts at a segment over the last 90 days.  If there is a tie, the tie-breaker would then be the lowest average number of attempts/day counting the days based on how long from the first attempt to the last (easier to figure as who's first attempt in that 90 day period is most recent).

  • When you are "fighting" for a local legend first place, it can happen that you have around the same amount of tries on a segment as the first place. However, since time goes on, it can happen that the first place looses one try while you stay on the amount you have (depending on when the tries happened).

In this case, you become local legend "silently", no activity is marked as "You became local legend for..." nor do you receive a mail or any notification. This has happened to me twice on the same segment.

For segments that have more than a certain amount of tries (let´s say 10 where it becomes interesting), it would be great that a new local legend is posted in the feed of the athlete in case it is not directly related to an uploaded activity...

  • maybe I'm missing something but why can't you just enable the feature in all countries. I mean it works fine in other countries, the feature has already been made and tested by thousands of users over an eight month period. I don't see a reason why it shouldn't be available everywhere.

  • I want to receive segment loss emails/notifications, but I do not want to receive local legend loss/gain emails.  There are way too many local legends that I do 3 times a week and other people do 3 times a week and we just keep trading local legend gain/loss all the time.  It completely dilutes the experience of anything meaningful and forces me to turn off email notifications for all segments.

  • Hello Armands Eglītis and Scott Carichner,

LCL will be released to all countries and all run/ride segments soon.

As for the segment loss emails/notifications, we are always looking for ways to improve this experience so I'll pass this feedback along.

  • Hey Strava team - good job on the local legends feature! I'd wish you'd roll it out more widely / globally.

  • Hi Navi,
Any idea when the LCL will be launched everywhere ?
Is there a place where one can find the criteria for a segment to be eligible ?
    Thank you,
    Laurent.

  • Please split email notification preferences for KOM/QOMs from LCLs.

There are many local segments where riders leapfrog each other daily and those daily emails are getting annoying. But I do want an email when someone wins my (rare) KOM. For now I created an email filter to kill the LCL emails.

    Thanks.

  • Hi,

When is the Local Legend feature introduced in Denmark. The feature has been around in other countries a long time but is not there in Denmark yet.

  • Hello Nicola Gallo and Jeroen Wigard,

We've activated the Local Legends feature for all ride and run segments globally. You should be able to see this now on a segment page. -N

  • I love the idea, but sadly in practice it's not working out. I have two issues which I think need to be addressed.

1: Email preferences. I get local legends incorrectly constantly (see 2) and they get taken constantly. The same cannot be said for KOM, which is rarer. As I have email notification on for "When someone takes a KOM / QOM / CR / LCL from me", I get too many emails now. I feel each of these lost titles needs its own option so that email preferences can be defined properly and accurately in a meaningful way.

2: If I read the idea correctly, the system is meant to count the amount of times you've done a segment in 90 days and whoever has the most within that time frame is local legend. In my experience, it's taking a whole total since I started riding/running and the same for those who take the local legend from me. On one segment, I did it five times in 90 days, but the system said I was local legend with 49 attempts. Either this is a date issue, or the wording on the local legend area needs refining.

    Chris.

  • Hi Navy!

Will the trophy be displayed in all your activities? On a few occasions I found it wouldn't display. The activities are set to be visible by everyone. Is there anything else that it depends on? Thanks in advance.

  • I think Local Legends is a neat concept, but what I'm finding frustrating is the amount of emails I get regarding local legends that I don't necessarily care to see. When I look at the email notifications, unfortunately local legends is bundled in with KOM/QOM/CR. I think performance-based email notifications (KOM/QOM/CR) should be separate from LCL emails since the frequency of turnover of KOM/QOM/CR is much lower than the frequency by which LCL status changes (by nature of LCL being calculated on a rolling basis). I would like to see email notifications that separate KOM/QOM/CR from LCL so I can selectively opt out of LCL emails. Thanks!

  • Hi Laurent Remmy, sorry for the delay. All run and ride segments should be available for Local Legends (except hazardous segments)

Hi Chris Buckley, we appreciate your feedback on separating KOM and LCL notification emails and have passed it along to the correct team. As for your second point, please submit a support ticket so our agents can investigate.

Hi @Martin, Local Legend achievement icons (laurels) will only show on new activities. If you earned the Local Legend on activities before we made it available to all run/ride segments, the laurel won't show.

Hi Kevin Lui, we appreciate your feedback on separating KOM and LCL notification emails and have passed it along to the correct team

Hi Massimiliano M., I will pass your feedback along to the correct team about adding e-bike segments to Local Legends.

    Thanks ya'll for the posts/feedback!! -N

  • Local legends is a great concept. Pity its not working as it suggests! Several segments show the local legend with just one effort in the past 90 days and I, like a number of users have done these several times in the same 90 days. All my efforts are set to public as i have no privacy issues that need locking down.

Perhaps you can look into why this happens and make some changes so it actually works?

Example below, Local Legend has done 2 efforts in 90 days where I have done 8?? And i am sure there are others with more.

  • You absolutely need to implement minimums for this feature (per the top comment)!

I got an email last week saying I'd lost my LL status (I didn't even know LL existed before that - I guess they were just enabled in my country). But the email said I had attempted the segment precisely ONCE.

Now this week I seem to have won back this status but I've still only done that segment three times. It makes a mockery of the word 'Legend' when you can earn it after having only run a segment a few times (and once is just plain ridiculous).

I would have thought "Local Legend" status should mean a large number of runs in the same area. As it is I'm ignoring it completely because it's completely meaningless.

  • I'm probably missing a point somewhere, but on one (running) segment, the LL is shown to have made 3 efforts in the past 90 days, whereas I am shown to have made 7. There are several other instances. I would be glad of an explanation.

  • Is there a reason that Local Legends are awarded by gender? I opened a segment that Strava says I hold the LL on, just to see that the overall LL is actually held by someone else with a significantly higher number of runs. As they're won by frequency, not pace, I don't think the differentiation is needed.

  •  I was on the local legends page looking for some data, I couldn't see what I needed and simply clicked on a button marked leave local legends or similar.  I thought i was merely going back not unsubscribing from the function. Now been told that I cannot reinstate my data back into LL when it is all on my activities list seems ridiculous. At the very least i would have expected a secondary command type response of "you are about to leave unsubscribe from LL this will remove you from all LL lists and cannot be reinstated"
I cannot understand why the system cannot simply take the last 90 days activities and load it back into the relevant segments, the only answer I can see is that this is happening a lot and you cannot deal with the possible volume ?

  • Hello Julia Achenbach and Gábor Kovács, We appreciate both your feedback and will relay your thoughts to the correct team.

Hello Ian Dickson 🇬🇧, Thanks for your response, I was able to find your ticket and understand your frustration. We added an extra opt-out confirm screen in hopes athletes won't just accidentally tap the opt-out button. We are still collecting feedback regarding this and will share your frustrations with the correct team.

  • I would like it to disable mails for LCL while keeping notifications about actual achievements like KOM's/CR's, but in the settings they are the same button/toggle.
