How to format your new idea and/or feedback:

Feedback that is actionable and constructive is most effective. When sharing, please consider the following when framing your thoughts:

  • If you have a new idea, it's helpful for us to understand why that feature is important for you and the value it will bring. For example: I want __. It will allow me to do ___. The reason that is important is because of ___. An example of when I needed that was ___.
  • Specific examples and details that illustrate the problem/confusion you are experiencing. For example: When I do ___, then ___ happens and that is not ok because ___.
  • Screenshots that help visually illustrate the problem. For example: Here is a picture illustrating my point ___ from above. See how ___ is doing ___?
  • An explanation of why this is important. For example: This is important to me because ___.
  • If you propose a solution, an explanation of how that solution would help you and why that is important. For example: I think a ___ would be great because then I could see ___. This is important to me because I have to ___.

If someone has already suggested the same idea as you, you can help us quantify the demand for the feature or improvement by upvoting the original comment. To upvote, click the up arrow on the right-hand side of the comment.

  • When looking at laps under Workout Analysis, I would like to have the time specified with seconds and one decimal. Currently there are no decimals, so I have to go to Garmin Connect to find them. For short intervals on track the decimal is useful, and it will not hurt even when it's not significant.

  • Downhill Mountain Bike Mode

We need a Downhill Mountain Bike mode. This mode would automatically not count shuttle/lift mileage. Whether it counts it separately or not at all doesn't matter.

This is important because when you record a ride where you are riding lifts or shuttling, your ride gets flagged for being in a vehicle but you can't crop it because the vehicle portions are not just at the start and end. The ride gets flagged and causes all of the legit times that were done on the downhill portion to not count, and they should. It won't even count toward my own PR, and it should be able to count toward leaderboards.

  • Feature Request:
Allow users to specify whether they care about "Moving Time" or "Elapsed Time" for imported activites. I am a trail runner, and there are some sections of trail where I have to move very slowly, for example over technical terrain or over icy sections. There are many runs where I have not stopped at all during my run and yet after Garmin exports the run to Strava, Strava shows a much lower "moving time" which gives me an inaccurately fast pace. The only workaround currently is to tag every run as a "Race," which I know a lot of other people do because I've read it in various forums. (Note that I already have "auto-pause" disabled in both Garmin and Strava, but Strava still only cares about "Moving Time" for imported activities.)

The fix for this could be an option in the activity edit screen where you can toggle between "Use Moving Time" or "Use Elapsed Time" and save your choice, similar to how I currently select "Race" for every activity. But it would be even better if you could set one of the options to default so that it would always choose that option for you unless you specified otherwise.  Thanks for reading!

  • I ask you to improve your program, make it possible to view trainings reports, with Filters so that I can choose a sport and I can see my total kilometers for the chosen sport  for a this period of time (week, month, year, all the time). I specifically bought a subscription from you in January ... but even there I could not get such reports !! Photo for example...Here is every color is another sport (bike, walking, skiing) ...

  • App Feature Request -

I would like the ability to add/retire gear (such as running shoes) on the app as opposed to having to log into the website separately.  This would save time, and make the app more user-friendly.

    Thank you.

Please could you get the phone to talk to the Apple Watch whist completing an activity . This is essential for me so that while cycling I can have an output of my HR while having a display on my bars .
At the moment it’s one or the other , . I don’t want to take my hand off to read my watch for HR and if I use the phone it does not pick up HR.
It’s very common in other apps . It’s the only think stopping me becoming premium . It was also featured in a large thread on the old forum requested by many .
    Thanks

  • Would like the option on activities to exclude them from power curve calculations in the case of erroneous power data.  This would also help in cases of being able to remove running activities with power data from being mixed in with cycling power curve stats, or vise versa depending on how you want your power curve data tailored.

  • Please add another column to the "laps" view on running activities in partocular. This column should have the cumalative time at the end of that lap, eg

    lap 1 5 mins,

    lap 2 10 mins

    etc

The reason I want this is to be able to easily add my (not)Parkrun 5k time. I usually run more than 5k so I have to work out my time manually or look at Garmin connect.

Even better would be to have stats on fastest 1k, 1mile, 5k etc in a particular run!

  • Would be nice to have the heart rate analysis (ie 'time in zones') available for all sports.  Currently I only see it for cycling & running.  It does not display for nordic skiing or indoor rowing.

  • Training/Analysis Graph Improvements

The web app allow switching between time and distance for the x-axis of the graphs but the Android and iOS apps do not (unless I missed this option) and instead assume distance is preferred when for most graphs time for the x-axis is more useful.  E.g.

    • Cadence/distance : I think time speed at a given cadence is much more relevant that distance covered at a given cadence.
    • HR/time : Time spent at a given HR is much more useful as distance covered at a given HR.
    • Power : Same argument as above.
    • Elevation/distance :  This is fine as it shows the gradient of the slope.  elevation/time is also useful as rate of climb/progress.
    • Speed/distance : Time and distance are both components of speed to either way the graphs are fine.

  • There are almost no running websites that ignore Stryd/watt for Garmin  runners as religiously as you guys. I think your customers have asked you to add Stryd support since 2017... why do you even bother to ask your customers for new features when this no-brainer has escaped you for 3 years? It's in the fit-File, Strava already has Watt support. Even my completely incompatible  crosstrainer shows watts on Strava, the Polar and Stryd combo works, every other website has managed to implement this within weeks/months.  I fail to see why Strava cannot.

  • Feature Request

Add custom date range option in fitness and freshness curve

    Current situation

The fitness and freshness curve is coming with a default list of date ranges, see here:

    Concrete Feature/Improvement

Add a custom date range option in the fitness and freshness curve,
this could be either done with a classical date range selection plus
optionally via a drag selection comparable to the analyze zoom in bike activities,
    example here:

  • High Level Feature Request

A range of threshold and zone settings per sport type should be possible.

    Current Situation

    - 1 global HR Zone could get applied
    - Pace/Tempo Zones being autogenerated based on a 1Mile, 5k,10k, Half- or Marathon
    - Functional Threshold seems to be a global configuration which gets applied to all activites

    Concrete Feature Requests

Each sport type should have the option to configure zones for Heart Rate, Power or Speed/Pace.
"Default" values shall be used for any sport type that doesn't have a specific setting.

  • HORSE RIDING

Could you please add horse riding to sports? There is no option on what to choose if I do horse riding... :(. I don't want to choose "Ride" because it means a bicycle and I ride a bike too, so my statistics would be mixed.

  • Hi,

I normally edit my activities with some keywords that indicate location. I can search for those in My Activities which is good. I'd love to have a date (from / to) selector to narrow it down. The ability to export the data in the table to csv would be nice to have at a minimum. I know I can copy/paste to Excel but it's a lot of extra formatting and formulas (eg. to strip off "km" from the distance value). But just having simple summary of the columns would be most helpful. (I can do that in the Under Armour statistics dashboard, but can't search by keyword there.) This would let me see, for example, how many times I skied at a specific nordic center. Since most in my area are either pay to play or crowd-funded, it can help determine where to buy memberships or donate.

  • Please add filtering and totals to My Activities. We should be able to see a specific date range and get totals for number of activities, duration, distance and elevation. This should be a pretty easy update and would help everyone. Most apps that provide tabular data have this built in and it is expected. We should not have to do a data dump and import to Excel just to figure out how far we have hiked this year for example.

  • I would like for the training log to have improved distinction of normal activites, 'Workout', and 'Race' for Virtual Rides (& Runs) currently they are handled differently then normal Rides & Runs.
For someone who likes to use training log to look back for key workouts/races, monitor hard/easy/hard cycle of actvities...  adding this detail to indoor virtual rides is very important.  This also could be improved by adding a 'Recovery' notation for activities.  Alll actvity types should have WORKOUT, LONG RUN(RIDE!!!!?!?) and RACE group types.  See below... before I started using virtual rides you could quickly view log and find workouts vs easy days vs long runs, etc.  NOW with virtual you really have to dig/read descriptions/etc.  boo.  Can't find virtual races, can't mark an FTP Test as a Race so it shows up in orange in 'Fitness & Freshness' graph...

---------------------------now below... where are the workouts?  where was my recent FTP test?!  who knows!------------

  • Hello Strava. I am seconding the request to reimplement the nesting of activities on the desktop training log. The amount of real estate wasted on the screen due to this is criminal. If I run in the morning then do a workout in the evening including a w/up and c/down then it shows at least 4 activities and makes the log very difficult to read when comparing over weeks. The answer is not to combine my activities as I usually change shoes for workouts and like to keep the activities separate. I typically end up using the mobile app to get a proper overview of my training over a period of weeks. Thanks.

  • Since the Training / My Activities list doesn't have average speed on it, I can't sort by that, which is an interesting metric for me. I would like to be able to sort that table by that column, as well as filter it by more values, such as a year, a date range, an activity type, a piece of equipment (particularly electric vs analog bike, mtn bike vs road bike).

If I could export the table to an Excel sheet (or CSV), I could add a column to compute the average speed for the ride (not to mention feet of climbing per mile ridden) which would allow me to sort by those values, and I could filter by date and sport, at least.

  • Allow setting default gear by finer-grained activity type. Right now, there are only default gear for "bike" and "run", but I have different bikes for "road bike", "mountain bike" and "bike trainer". I end up having to pick one as the default (road), and then every MTB or trainer activity I need to swap which bike is used. Same for shoes with running/walking/hiking.

On the profile page, weeks with a race should be in some color like red. That way I know which weeks to look at if I want to see someone's race performances.

  • Eric Hawkins John Noonan Tom Shepherd Mike Molloy Bridgette E. Thank you all for voicing your opinions regarding the addition of unicycling, backcountry snowboarding, and stroller runs as future activity types! We appreciate you taking the time to share your suggestions with us and will share this feedback with our team for future consideration.

Tom Carroll Great suggestion regarding differentiating gear selection by chosen activity type! We love hearing feedback on how to improve the dirt vs. road experience for our athletes and will take this into consideration as we continue to work on future features!

  • Just to bump Nick Tisdell's comment from July 01, 2021 15:48.

Please can you fix the virtual rides tagging/categorisation so that we can identify Virtual Races again.

This was previously possible (my races in March 2021 are flagged), but my most recent races aren't.

This is visible in the Freshness chart - my March races are identified, more recent ones are not:

  • I think including an activity type of Pilates would be great because then I could see when I have completed a Pilates class vs when I have completed Yoga classes. This is important to me because as a triathlete I do different types of cross training for different types of benefit - Pilates and Yoga are not the same and have very different benefits to me as a triathlete.

  • Suzanne Garner:
You can use this tool to merge the activity files. You'll need to export the activities (I recommend FIT files, but the tool also support GPX and TCX files. I have used it a lot now, for both merging activities when I accidently stop and start a new activity or when I record using different tools that have different data.

Combine FIT, GPX or TCX files for Garmin or Strava. Merge Heart Rate Power and GPS (gotoes.org)

Strava has a help article about it here:

    https://support.strava.com/hc/en-us/articles/221258108-Merge-or-combine-activities

  • Thanks, I had seen that article but I don't want to merge the activities; especially don't want to spend time fussing with it every day.  I simply want strava to use common sense. When what they call activities are clearly only one activity the time & distance should reflect that, not be added together.

  • I would like to have a Feed URL where I can subscribe my calendar to my Training Log, or an export button that can import multiple events over a range of dates to a calendar on my computer. It will allow me to have a record in my Calendar (Mac) of the dates, times, and durations of my workout. (I would not like the workout name to be the Title of each calendar entry, just the distance, just like in the Training log). The reason this is important is because my weeks fly by without diligent use of my Calendar to account for my time (and on busy weeks I might make excuses about skipping a workout). It's easy to set upcoming appointments in a calendar, but it takes time to assemble a calendar in hindsight. I found an applet on IFTTT that was supposed to do this for me, however the service says it has successfully run well over 100 times and yet it has never made a single entry in my iOS calendar.

I am going to go check if Garmin Connect offers this service because if they do, that solves my problem and explains why Strava hasn't done it yet. However loads of Strava users aren't using Garmin…
