How to format your new idea and/or feedback:

Feedback that is actionable and constructive is most effective. When sharing, please consider the following when framing your thoughts:

  • If you have a new idea, it's helpful for us to understand why that feature is important for you and the value it will bring. For example: I want __. It will allow me to do ___. The reason that is important is because of ___. An example of when I needed that was ___.
  • Specific examples and details that illustrate the problem/confusion you are experiencing. For example: When I do ___, then ___ happens and that is not ok because ___.
  • Screenshots that help visually illustrate the problem. For example: Here is a picture illustrating my point ___ from above. See how ___ is doing ___?
  • An explanation of why this is important. For example: This is important to me because ___.
  • If you propose a solution, an explanation of how that solution would help you and why that is important. For example: I think a ___ would be great because then I could see ___. This is important to me because I have to ___.

  • Feature request:
When joining a McMillan plan provided by strava it would be useful if this plan was then imported to the training calendar. This would allow users to see all there information in one place.
Also it would be helpful if strava automatically worked out the required pace zones for the workouts by using pre-existing data, (for example best estimated run times which is located on their profile,) and incorporated the pace/zones into the workout plan for you rather then just stating 10km pace.
Also an estimated fitness/freshness to be displayed on the fitness and freshness for the upcoming runs via the plan.

  • Yes, it´s quite a huge challenge to bring valuable content to the platform for being attractive the long run for all members.

    "Just thinking out loud!"

All common people, the normal athletes, you whom I mean, me, you and yes you, are ending in their personal dead end that normal segments are turning into a very uninteresting thing. That´s probably the answer why we got those local heros and local queens rolled out. A nice idea for all commuters and so on. Segments are just bringing focus to all common and normal ones back if the either compete against themself or analyze their efforts.

I mean, it is not like that you don´t have data from us to make more out of it, for each of us. Introduce a complete new section, let´s call them "Stats" and bring common and normal visualizations together. This could be data where we are looking at in very regular basis.

Some ideas, more is warmly welcome:

    - "Trainingsmix" to get an weekly/monthly/yearly overview of your sport types, like how many time you spent in each type of sport in a simple stacked bar chart
    - Another stacked bar char for displaying percentage spent per heart rate zone, some guys wanna see their 80:20 numbers
    - Stacked bar chart for displaying percentage spent per power zone per sport type
    - Stacked bar chart for displaying percentage spent per pace zone per sport type
    - Line charts for tracking power data for different sport types, like average 20m or 60m FTP results
    - Line charts for tracking speed data for different sport type, like 5k, 10k progressions
    - ... and so on.

Just consider this list as a open and living one.

  • Can we have the option to add more winter sports gear? I like that feature with bikes and running.

I would like that feature with skiing as well, as many of us have multiple sets of skis or bindings. Different skis for different conditions.

Currently I can only track a Bike. I also want to track Cycling Shoes.

  • Show a list of all segments I've run (or ridden). I don't think there's currently a list anywhere that comprehensively shows all the segments I've run. It would be nice to see them all, instead of just a certain selection depending on what part of the website I'm looking at.

This was also popular on the old forums: https://web.archive.org/web/20200812075134/https://support.strava.com/hc/en-us/community/posts/208834677-Show-a-list-of-all-the-Segments-I-ve-ridden-run-on-Strava

  • Lots of requests for new categories here and if all were to be implemented it would probably be a mess. Maybe a good idea is to
    1. allow users to add and name their own custom categories
    2. create an algorithm to internally aggregate custom categories by name (aggregate a bit loosely to account for spelling, capitalization etc).
    3. If category seems sufficiently popular you could consider adding it, maybe under a subcategory “user contrib” or “popular req” or something.

Below is my addition to the chaos.

Can you add a category “running with stroller”? I usually run with a stroller and depending on the weight of included children, groceries etc it’s a completely different workout compared to running without the stroller. And it would be super fancy if it was possible to specify the weight of the stroller.

    Thanks!

  • As a user of Strava I want to record my power output with the mobile app during a ride so that I don't need my Garmin/wahoo/whatever device for recording occasional rides.

Given the mobile app when recording a ride then the power output of my connected power meter is recorded.

One example where I could desperately need it is that my Garmin EDGE is broken and I am currently waiting for a new one arriving on Monday (today is Saturday). I simply cannot ride outside as there are no apps recording outdoor rides with the output of my Vector 3. It is connected via bluetooth to the Iphone (so I would need it on your IOS app here) and I can record indoor rides with TrainerRoad. So this should be an "easy" task.

  • Would like to see something like cycling dynamics (from Garmin) from cycling power meters integrated into the api and/or the app(s)

Values i am interessted in: left/right power balance, torque and torque efficiency, starting power phase, efficient power phase etc.

    Cheers!

  • Could you look at changing the default triathlon run/ride/swim data shown to something chosen by subscribers in their settings ? I don’t run or swim so those zero tabs are just a waste of electrons. But I would like to see my walking data instead. I am sure others would like to see their favourite sports too.

Before the recent update we were told it was impossible to have private or club challenges because they would be much strain on your servers, but you have introduced them, surely you should be able to let us select which sports are shown in the default settings ? That should be a lot less demand on your servers than custom challenges !

  • Feature Request.. for information..

I see that the Strava App on an Apple Watch will record a few different workout types. Is recording Swim workouts in the backlog yet? This would lead the way for eventually being able to track full Triathlons natively on the Apple Watch, using the Strava App.

As someone currently in the market for a new multi-sport training watch, the Apple Watch definitely has my attention but it's lacking the full package. This would put it over the top. It would also be a big gateway for Strava users to migrate over to using Strava 100% of the time which would also lead many of us getting a Strava Subscription.

I understand this is quite an undertaking, so I'm really curious to hear what the developers think of the idea more than a timeline (although that'd be awesome).

  • Greetings, I would like to give my opinion regarding two recent changes to the Strava APP. I have to admit that most of the changes have been to my liking and I think they simplify the use of the application, making it more intuitive and easy to use for everyone.

    Here are my two cases:

1º One of the changes has been the location of the groups, more specifically the groups / clubs that each individual belongs to, previously by going to the groups / clubs tab we already had access to them. Instead, now the user must go to the groups section, to the clubs section, slide the screen to the bottom and select "Check the activities of your clubs". This change has added three more steps to get to the same point that was previously accessed with a simple step. In my opinion, this change has not simplified or made it more intuitive to consult the activities of the groups / clubs.

2nd Graph of weekly activities in the section of the profile, until yesterday it was easy to know and have control of the distance traveled, the hours and the total accumulated unevenness that you had in the week. Now the weekly log has been segmented, Bicycle, Virtual Bicycle etc. In this way, if we want to know and keep track of the total distance, hours of training or unevenness, for example in terms of cycling, we must add it mentally: 130kms 2500m 10H (Bicycle), 75 Kms 2100m 4H (Virtual Bicycle). Again, this change does not simplify the information we obtain from the APP at all, making it much more complex and tedious to keep track of weekly distances and times. I see that there is the possibility of identifying each sport modality if the user so wishes, but whoever does not want to individualize the activities such as cycling and virtual cycling, it would be a good option for the user to choose if they want to keep track total or separate disciplines. Since today through the APP there is no way to know the totality summarized in distance, elevation and time. (I hope I have explained myself correctly).

With nothing more to add, I say goodbye with a cordial greeting and send you a hug from Spain.

    ATT. Alejandro Corrales

  • I want to be able to sort my activities and my efforts on segments by which bike I rode. It will allow me to compare efforts on the same platform, because each bike is different. The reason that is important is because my fat bike will never be as fast as my full squish, or my old steel fixed gear vs my carbon road bike!

  • Feature request:
add lap timer button to apple watch Strava interface.

I want to use Strava on my Apple Watch to record swims & runs. With my old Garmin Forerunner, I could record laps (running & swimming) and then see splits for each lap. For swimming and track running interval workouts, it was a way to capture accurate splits, which allows me to assess my performance and progress and compare vs goals. Now that I've switched from Garmin to Apple Watch, which I believe is a major platform for Strava users, I've lost the lap timing functionality.

  • Please allow athletes to enter a separate FTP for cycling and running. It is great that running power is included now, but my running FTP and cycling FTP is so far off that strain computations are going to be way off for one or the other. The training metrics would be much more accurate for multisport athletes if this feature was added.

This is very similar to the comment about separate HR zones for running and cycling.

  • Enable power and cadence graphs for velomobile rides

Power and cadence graphs are already available for bike rides in the mobile app, but not for velomobile rides. These graphs are also very useful for velomobile rides.

  • Hello Strava. I am seconding the request to reimplement the nesting of activities on the desktop training log. The amount of real estate wasted on the screen due to this is criminal. If I run in the morning then do a workout in the evening including a w/up and c/down then it shows at least 4 activities and makes the log very difficult to read when comparing over weeks. The answer is not to combine my activities as I usually change shoes for workouts and like to keep the activities separate. I typically end up using the mobile app to get a proper overview of my training over a period of weeks. Thanks.

  • Thanks, I had seen that article but I don't want to merge the activities; especially don't want to spend time fussing with it every day.  I simply want strava to use common sense. When what they call activities are clearly only one activity the time & distance should reflect that, not be added together.

I understand and agree, it was merely meant as a temporary solution until they hopeful sort it out within Strava.

  • I would like to have a Feed URL where I can subscribe my calendar to my Training Log, or an export button that can import multiple events over a range of dates to a calendar on my computer. It will allow me to have a record in my Calendar (Mac) of the dates, times, and durations of my workout. (I would not like the workout name to be the Title of each calendar entry, just the distance, just like in the Training log). The reason this is important is because my weeks fly by without diligent use of my Calendar to account for my time (and on busy weeks I might make excuses about skipping a workout). It's easy to set upcoming appointments in a calendar, but it takes time to assemble a calendar in hindsight. I found an applet on IFTTT that was supposed to do this for me, however the service says it has successfully run well over 100 times and yet it has never made a single entry in my iOS calendar.

I am going to go check if Garmin Connect offers this service because if they do, that solves my problem and explains why Strava hasn't done it yet. However loads of Strava users aren't using Garmin…

  • I'd like the ability to add an "Other" category for components. I recently had to replace the di2 battery, and installed a EW-WU111 at the same time. And.. there's no capacity to add this category. I do however want to track the battery install date - it's a consumable, and it'd be nice to track when I installed the wireless module...

Rather than trying to capture every type of (new and emerging) component, just adding an "other" category should address this pretty easily.

I’ve worked around it by using “Front & Rear Shocks” which I’ll never need to actually use for my road bike, and just putting in an appropriate description. But... still...

  • Hi

Think your heart wheel is a bit poor. Please replace by a better graph where zones are separated by different colors over the distance or timeline. Also Let's have at least two zone setups. One for running and one for riding and with manual entries for the zones, max minus rest setup and standard default. As it is now zone setup in Strava override setup in Garmin which has 3 options for zone setups

    Thanks

  •  Any way to add VAM and GAP to hiking? Hikers do ascend rated climbs and VAM and GAP would allow hikers, climbers (mountaineers) to evaluate if they are getting stronger on the verticals where it counts or just walking faster on the flats and downhills. Obviously they have speed sections on the map, but that doesn't give you are legitimate idea of what your actual improvements are for vertical ascent.

Yes, I know, just put all your hikes as runs...except I only run sprints, and I don't want Strava c0-mingling my runs and hikes. If strava would just accept that it started out as a cycling or running or whatever platfoorm but it's time to toss in the towel and expand features to  hikers ,climbers and other mountain athletes (and all sorts of other non triathlon sports) it could grow it's base a lot more. This stubborn idea that we are a running plattform is holding Strava back. I'm currently looking at Sport Tracks for better data management/analysis
