  • I really like Strava and everything is offering but I think you can improve the stats section.

I practice a lot of sports, like cross countr ski, alpine ski, hike, running, cycling, gym and others and is impossible to have a clear vision of the weekly or monthly activity I do divided per type of sport.

In the weekly bar chart I'd like to see a total including all the sports I do and the possibility to choose also sport different from running, cycling and swimming. A smart idea could be do the bar chart with different colors for different sports, like you can see in the pictures I attach (from Endomondo).

    Thanks,

    Valerio

Do you think is possible to add this feature?

Hi Valerio - I was actually looking for the same thing which let me to write my own light-weight app that connects via Strava API. I am using duration/time on the y-axis as that compares better than distance for different sports. You can try here: https://tools.orico.cz/strava-app

Not sure if this is the right place to post this link but since it solves your problem, and maybe for others, I will give it a try :-)

  • Please make the circles in the training log larger based on distance or time and not number of activities.

  • Hi all, my running cadence vs distance graph on Strava fluctuate a lot like seesaw graph (refer photo below), my average running cadence is 193rpm, low is 175, high is 196.

Only a handful time my running cadence appears straight line on Strava graph.

The cadence graph on COROS app appears straight line as picture below.

What's the possible issue on the Strava's cadence vs time/distance graph ?

  • Am I the ONLY one who uses "PACE" as an indicator of performance?

In previous fitness software, I had a customizable, table list view, of ALL my runs with one column (of many) showing "PACE".

This allowed me to EASILY compare, at a glance, my performance to ALL my previous runs.

I can't find a similar "screen" on Strava.

    Is this a "weird" request????

  • App Feature Request -

I would like the ability to add/retire gear (such as running shoes) on the app as opposed to having to log into the website separately.  This would save time, and make the app more user-friendly.

    Thank you.

  • It would be nice if I could add private notes to my activity only viewable to me.

  • I miss having the opportunity to sort my training logs by pace or speed. Among other, I have title (which you gave my activity and I cannot use it for anything), elevation and relative effort, which also is something you invented. Why cant I see real data or at least choose my self which parameteres I want to have displayed ?? average heart rate, max heart rate etc is much more relevant thant your relative effort to me. I used to use endomondo and really miss many of their functionalites to get an overview of my progression.

  • Great post, Christina...I've been asking for this "simplicity" for months...even TomTom's "Sport Connect" has these features!
Strava ALREADY has the data we want....just allow us to create our run list with the "data columns" we want!!!!!!

  • Could you look at changing the default triathlon run/ride/swim data shown to something chosen by subscribers in their settings ? I don’t run or swim so those zero tabs are just a waste of electrons. But I would like to see my walking data instead. I am sure others would like to see their favourite sports too.

Before the recent update we were told it was impossible to have private or club challenges because they would be much strain on your servers, but you have introduced them, surely you should be able to let us select which sports are shown in the default settings ? That should be a lot less demand on your servers than custom challenges !

  • the odometer is not updating after each ride. why is that? my chosen bike has X km, i added Y km but the total shown is still X. i remember there was an option to "force refresh odo/distance" but that is gone. can't find it anywhere.

  • Feature Request.. for information..

I see that the Strava App on an Apple Watch will record a few different workout types. Is recording Swim workouts in the backlog yet? This would lead the way for eventually being able to track full Triathlons natively on the Apple Watch, using the Strava App.

As someone currently in the market for a new multi-sport training watch, the Apple Watch definitely has my attention but it's lacking the full package. This would put it over the top. It would also be a big gateway for Strava users to migrate over to using Strava 100% of the time which would also lead many of us getting a Strava Subscription.

I understand this is quite an undertaking, so I'm really curious to hear what the developers think of the idea more than a timeline (although that'd be awesome).

  • Please add filtering and totals to My Activities. We should be able to see a specific date range and get totals for number of activities, duration, distance and elevation. This should be a pretty easy update and would help everyone. Most apps that provide tabular data have this built in and it is expected. We should not have to do a data dump and import to Excel just to figure out how far we have hiked this year for example.

  • David Rochford this option already exists on the pc version of strava. go to training->training log, select your sport from drop down menu, in the next menu time/distance/elevation and then you can select totals by year and month on the right side - you still have to add up weekly numbers manually but that shouldn't be a problem. not all apps have the filter functionality.

  • Eric Peters I gave up on the swim feature and just use swim.com app for lap / structured swimming, and the apple watch "native" workout app for open water swimming. Far more reliable, more features. And it all syncs back to Strava if you want to have it in one bucket to analyse later.

  • Greetings, I would like to give my opinion regarding two recent changes to the Strava APP. I have to admit that most of the changes have been to my liking and I think they simplify the use of the application, making it more intuitive and easy to use for everyone.

    Here are my two cases:

1º One of the changes has been the location of the groups, more specifically the groups / clubs that each individual belongs to, previously by going to the groups / clubs tab we already had access to them. Instead, now the user must go to the groups section, to the clubs section, slide the screen to the bottom and select "Check the activities of your clubs". This change has added three more steps to get to the same point that was previously accessed with a simple step. In my opinion, this change has not simplified or made it more intuitive to consult the activities of the groups / clubs.

2nd Graph of weekly activities in the section of the profile, until yesterday it was easy to know and have control of the distance traveled, the hours and the total accumulated unevenness that you had in the week. Now the weekly log has been segmented, Bicycle, Virtual Bicycle etc. In this way, if we want to know and keep track of the total distance, hours of training or unevenness, for example in terms of cycling, we must add it mentally: 130kms 2500m 10H (Bicycle), 75 Kms 2100m 4H (Virtual Bicycle). Again, this change does not simplify the information we obtain from the APP at all, making it much more complex and tedious to keep track of weekly distances and times. I see that there is the possibility of identifying each sport modality if the user so wishes, but whoever does not want to individualize the activities such as cycling and virtual cycling, it would be a good option for the user to choose if they want to keep track total or separate disciplines. Since today through the APP there is no way to know the totality summarized in distance, elevation and time. (I hope I have explained myself correctly).

With nothing more to add, I say goodbye with a cordial greeting and send you a hug from Spain.

    ATT. Alejandro Corrales

  • +1 for the ability to switch chart x-axes from distance to elapsed time. Especially useful for observing HR during walked recoveries on interval runs, for example.

Another commenter suggests this feature is already available in the web app but I don’t see it. Was it removed?

  • Surprising to me that there is no "Trail Run" activity choice. Hike and Run independently do not apply to this kind of effort... what do other people choose? I assume Run since that is most of the effort. Please Strava add this option.

  • I would like to have private notes on activities.  I like the description field, but I cannot put in personal information etc because it is visible to everyone if the activity is not set as private.

Private notes would allow athletes to add personal notes to an activity in order to track GI issues, aches and pains, athletes that were also on the activity but don't want to be identified, and various other private and personal details that help with training and motivation - but are not something we want to share with our amazing community of followers.

I keep notes in a spreadsheet that I am not comfortable including in the description field of my strava activity and have to refer to Strava and Excel in order to get a full picture of how my workouts are going.

If this feature was implemented, I would then be able to transfer my notes to my workouts in Strava and have a full picture of my progress in 1 place.  I use Strava as my training log and social communications platform for all things exercise related, and having to have information about a bike ride or run in excel as well makes it very difficult to keep a full picture of my progress.

Thank you for the great service!

  • Right now, to manually add an activity you have to be on the main Home activities page. I am forgetful so I have to review my history on the You page, and then return to the Home page to add an activity for my treadmill workouts. It would be nice if there was an add button on the “You” page.

  • I would like for the training log to have improved distinction of normal activites, 'Workout', and 'Race' for Virtual Rides (& Runs) currently they are handled differently then normal Rides & Runs.
For someone who likes to use training log to look back for key workouts/races, monitor hard/easy/hard cycle of actvities...  adding this detail to indoor virtual rides is very important.  This also could be improved by adding a 'Recovery' notation for activities.  Alll actvity types should have WORKOUT, LONG RUN(RIDE!!!!?!?) and RACE group types.  See below... before I started using virtual rides you could quickly view log and find workouts vs easy days vs long runs, etc.  NOW with virtual you really have to dig/read descriptions/etc.  boo.  Can't find virtual races, can't mark an FTP Test as a Race so it shows up in orange in 'Fitness & Freshness' graph...

---------------------------now below... where are the workouts?  where was my recent FTP test?!  who knows!------------

  • Manually enter in Interval Workouts for sprinters/speed workouts

I'm a runner and I like to do speed workout (400m intervals, mile intervals, staircase workouts) and there is no current way to easily log speed workouts.  Right now, I would have to create each interval as a different entry.

I would like to be able to log all of the intervals with one entry where you can add each interval and time below each other like:

    400 meters, 1m30s
    400 meters, 1m33s
    800 meters, 3m20s

    and so on.
this would definitely help everyone that is doing some sort of speed workout or interval training

  • Many people perform martial arts (grappling, BJJ, muay Thai, boxing, etc) as their primary sport, cross-training, or hobby. Martial Arts brings unique demands onto the body that shouldn't be clumped with other forms of exercise activities. The stresses on the body are different, and I think there's value to differentiating a martial arts session from another form of activity on an athlete's training log.

  •  I want the option of both a Default Bicycle and a Default Virtual Bicycle. It will allow me to track mileage on different machines. The reason that is important is because if i forget to amend the bike choice when i do a virtual ride it adds mileage to my road bike, which i try to keep track of for servicing purposes etc.

First, let me say thank you for adding the Commute filter to "My Activities" AND for tallying the total number of activities. Superb!

I would now like to ask for another filter feature to be added.

    I want a date filter for example:(mm-dd-yy - mm-dd-yy).

Such a feature will allow me to compare different times of year and keep track of YoY performance.

Like many athletes on Strava, this is crucial for annual goal tracking and monitoring progression. An example of when I personally needed this was to compare how many times/year I commute or opt to ride my bicycle instead of driving a car. This is important to me because I challenge myself each year to increase the frequency and distance. It would also be helpful to compare how well I stick to this challenge during the winter vs the summer when it's easier.

When I do a YoY comparison now, then I have to navigate through multiple pages and scroll for the 'landmark' ride that starts the time period. A simple time period filter would make a tremendous difference and save a lot of time.

    Thanks

  • Would like to have skateboarding and/or longboarding as an activity option. Would be very timely, especially since skateboarding is finally considered an olympic sport. Currently, the closest activity is in-line skating, but this is not an accurate reflection of skateboarding. We would love to be able to see Strava represent the skateboard community on the platform.

  • I want to be able to sort my activities and my efforts on segments by which bike I rode. It will allow me to compare efforts on the same platform, because each bike is different. The reason that is important is because my fat bike will never be as fast as my full squish, or my old steel fixed gear vs my carbon road bike!

  • Feature request: add to ability to create a "Flag" that shows the start and end date of a training block.

I would like to be able to look back and see what workouts I completed for a given training cycle so I can follow it again or make changes.

  • Feature request:
add lap timer button to apple watch Strava interface.

I want to use Strava on my Apple Watch to record swims & runs. With my old Garmin Forerunner, I could record laps (running & swimming) and then see splits for each lap. For swimming and track running interval workouts, it was a way to capture accurate splits, which allows me to assess my performance and progress and compare vs goals. Now that I've switched from Garmin to Apple Watch, which I believe is a major platform for Strava users, I've lost the lap timing functionality.
