How to format your new idea and/or feedback:

Feedback that is actionable and constructive is most effective. When sharing, please consider the following when framing your thoughts:

  • If you have a new idea, it's helpful for us to understand why that feature is important for you and the value it will bring. For example: I want __. It will allow me to do ___. The reason that is important is because of ___. An example of when I needed that was ___.
  • Specific examples and details that illustrate the problem/confusion you are experiencing. For example: When I do ___, then ___ happens and that is not ok because ___.
  • Screenshots that help visually illustrate the problem. For example: Here is a picture illustrating my point ___ from above. See how ___ is doing ___?
  • An explanation of why this is important. For example: This is important to me because ___.
  • If you propose a solution, an explanation of how that solution would help you and why that is important. For example: I think a ___ would be great because then I could see ___. This is important to me because I have to ___.

If someone has already suggested the same idea as you, you can help us quantify the demand for the feature or improvement by upvoting the original comment. To upvote, click the up arrow on the right-hand side of the comment.

  • Lots of requests for new categories here and if all were to be implemented it would probably be a mess. Maybe a good idea is to
    1. allow users to add and name their own custom categories
    2. create an algorithm to internally aggregate custom categories by name (aggregate a bit loosely to account for spelling, capitalization etc).
    3. If category seems sufficiently popular you could consider adding it, maybe under a subcategory “user contrib” or “popular req” or something.

Below is my addition to the chaos.

Can you add a category “running with stroller”? I usually run with a stroller and depending on the weight of included children, groceries etc it’s a completely different workout compared to running without the stroller. And it would be super fancy if it was possible to specify the weight of the stroller.

    Thanks!

  • As a user of Strava I want to record my power output with the mobile app during a ride so that I don't need my Garmin/wahoo/whatever device for recording occasional rides.

Given the mobile app when recording a ride then the power output of my connected power meter is recorded.

One example where I could desperately need it is that my Garmin EDGE is broken and I am currently waiting for a new one arriving on Monday (today is Saturday). I simply cannot ride outside as there are no apps recording outdoor rides with the output of my Vector 3. It is connected via bluetooth to the Iphone (so I would need it on your IOS app here) and I can record indoor rides with TrainerRoad. So this should be an "easy" task.

  • Would like to see something like cycling dynamics (from Garmin) from cycling power meters integrated into the api and/or the app(s)

Values i am interessted in: left/right power balance, torque and torque efficiency, starting power phase, efficient power phase etc.

    Cheers!

  • Could you look at changing the default triathlon run/ride/swim data shown to something chosen by subscribers in their settings ? I don’t run or swim so those zero tabs are just a waste of electrons. But I would like to see my walking data instead. I am sure others would like to see their favourite sports too.

Before the recent update we were told it was impossible to have private or club challenges because they would be much strain on your servers, but you have introduced them, surely you should be able to let us select which sports are shown in the default settings ? That should be a lot less demand on your servers than custom challenges !

  • Feature Request.. for information..

I see that the Strava App on an Apple Watch will record a few different workout types. Is recording Swim workouts in the backlog yet? This would lead the way for eventually being able to track full Triathlons natively on the Apple Watch, using the Strava App.

As someone currently in the market for a new multi-sport training watch, the Apple Watch definitely has my attention but it's lacking the full package. This would put it over the top. It would also be a big gateway for Strava users to migrate over to using Strava 100% of the time which would also lead many of us getting a Strava Subscription.

I understand this is quite an undertaking, so I'm really curious to hear what the developers think of the idea more than a timeline (although that'd be awesome).

  • Greetings, I would like to give my opinion regarding two recent changes to the Strava APP. I have to admit that most of the changes have been to my liking and I think they simplify the use of the application, making it more intuitive and easy to use for everyone.

    Here are my two cases:

1º One of the changes has been the location of the groups, more specifically the groups / clubs that each individual belongs to, previously by going to the groups / clubs tab we already had access to them. Instead, now the user must go to the groups section, to the clubs section, slide the screen to the bottom and select "Check the activities of your clubs". This change has added three more steps to get to the same point that was previously accessed with a simple step. In my opinion, this change has not simplified or made it more intuitive to consult the activities of the groups / clubs.

2nd Graph of weekly activities in the section of the profile, until yesterday it was easy to know and have control of the distance traveled, the hours and the total accumulated unevenness that you had in the week. Now the weekly log has been segmented, Bicycle, Virtual Bicycle etc. In this way, if we want to know and keep track of the total distance, hours of training or unevenness, for example in terms of cycling, we must add it mentally: 130kms 2500m 10H (Bicycle), 75 Kms 2100m 4H (Virtual Bicycle). Again, this change does not simplify the information we obtain from the APP at all, making it much more complex and tedious to keep track of weekly distances and times. I see that there is the possibility of identifying each sport modality if the user so wishes, but whoever does not want to individualize the activities such as cycling and virtual cycling, it would be a good option for the user to choose if they want to keep track total or separate disciplines. Since today through the APP there is no way to know the totality summarized in distance, elevation and time. (I hope I have explained myself correctly).

With nothing more to add, I say goodbye with a cordial greeting and send you a hug from Spain.

    ATT. Alejandro Corrales

  • Would like to have skateboarding and/or longboarding as an activity option. Would be very timely, especially since skateboarding is finally considered an olympic sport. Currently, the closest activity is in-line skating, but this is not an accurate reflection of skateboarding. We would love to be able to see Strava represent the skateboard community on the platform.

  • I want to be able to sort my activities and my efforts on segments by which bike I rode. It will allow me to compare efforts on the same platform, because each bike is different. The reason that is important is because my fat bike will never be as fast as my full squish, or my old steel fixed gear vs my carbon road bike!

  • Feature request:
add lap timer button to apple watch Strava interface.

I want to use Strava on my Apple Watch to record swims & runs. With my old Garmin Forerunner, I could record laps (running & swimming) and then see splits for each lap. For swimming and track running interval workouts, it was a way to capture accurate splits, which allows me to assess my performance and progress and compare vs goals. Now that I've switched from Garmin to Apple Watch, which I believe is a major platform for Strava users, I've lost the lap timing functionality.

  • Feature request: Fastests 1/5/10/15/21 kms analysis that doesn't start on the km mark.

Today, when doing pace analysis, the fastest km is shown as below:

This doesn't work for most situation because we don't start running our fast sections on the KM, and there is no way to measure our fastest 1, 5, 10 or whatever KMs we've done in the run without creating segments. Strava also just flags the PBs for these distances, and not recent bests (eg best 1km in August, for example).

While it is possible to use segments to achieve this, it is rigid - you can't deviate from a segment and still get a measurement, which isn't very intuitive, and doesn't work if you're the spontaneous sort of person.

This feature of fastests 1, 5, 10, etc KMs have been available for very long in Endomondo, and is the feature I miss most after migrating to Strava.

  • I would really like to be able to tag a run as 'parkrun' as one of the options for 'Type of run'. Parkrun is huge, and it would be great to be able to filter them out into their own list.

  • Hello Strava!
I have an idea for you that I think would improve your app. I’ve been using Strava for about 2 years and my biggest problem has been that if I stop my watch for different parts of a workout, or accidentally restart it during a run, the two activities appear on different parts of the timeline. My suggestion is to give users the option to “link” their runs. It could appear similarly to when different people are running together, but it would be different parts of the same person’s run. So “warmup” “workout” and “cool down” could be different activities, but would appear together and linked on the timeline.
Again, love the app, just offering a suggestion!
    Best,
    Colleen

  • I strongly endorse Ryan's feature request - please add an option at the activity level to select whether moving time or elapsed time is the relevant duration to add to the training time totals - but for a different reason:

Strava currently uses "moving time" as the relevant training duration for rides, which is fine for real outdoor rides, but not for virtual rides, because in virtual rides the notion of "moving" is ambiguous. Specifically, many virtual rides, such as Zwift events and especially Rouvy AR rides, start with a warm-up period and/or end with a cool-down period during which I am actually pedaling (i.e. working) but the avatar is not "moving" and hence speed is recorded to be zero. Hence, the warm-up and cool-down is currently not recogenized as training time in the log. This is unfortunate, because especially the warm-up is occasionally quite long und includes some relevant efforts - it happens that the "moving time" reported Strava is less than half of the time I'm actually riding. PLEASE fix this! Thanks guys!

  • Please allow athletes to enter a separate FTP for cycling and running. It is great that running power is included now, but my running FTP and cycling FTP is so far off that strain computations are going to be way off for one or the other. The training metrics would be much more accurate for multisport athletes if this feature was added.

This is very similar to the comment about separate HR zones for running and cycling.

  • Enable power and cadence graphs for velomobile rides

Power and cadence graphs are already available for bike rides in the mobile app, but not for velomobile rides. These graphs are also very useful for velomobile rides.

  • 1) Provide a separate forum for "Fitness & Freshness"

    2) Allow users to specify a custom time range for "Fitness & Freshness". I.e. a "from date" and "to date" we can select ourselves. It is incredibly useful if you want to look at what your training looked like say a year ago for just two months. If you use the "All time" or "2 Years" it scrunches the graph too much to be useful. E.g. I want to look at some training from 2018 and the "All time" graph is useless for that. I'd like to be able to enter my own custom time range.

    3) [more advanced and harder] Implement a comparison between two custom time ranges so you can compare training periods.

    Thank you.

  • Since Strava already tracks who we ride/run with on a per activity basis (based on privacy settings), but I would love to see that expanded to create a "MilesTogether" feature that would show how many miles I have ridden/run with each of my Following/Followers lists. It would be awesome to recognize milestones by having them appear on my feed, like "Tim and Joel have ridden 10,000 miles together" or things like that.  I think it would increase user community and may even encourage more group activities.

As a user for nearly a decade, I would love to be able to see how many miles I have put on with all of the different Strava users who have been a part of my experience.

  • I would like to see weekly, yearly, and total stats for all activity types. Currently you can only see them for cycling, running and swimming. I would particularly be interested in hiking. The only work around is to go into activities and add them up manually - REALLY!

  • Add filter for Training > Activities to only list activities that meet certain criteria

I use the list for more detailed tracking of gear on my bikes (copy/paste import into a spreadsheet) and I need to know which Bike was used for each activity - it's not listed as a display column and search does seem to not look at that field.

There are a couple of solutions:

     1. Add a filter to make it easy to find matching activities
     2. Add the bike used to the display in a column, or allow display columns to be customized

I'd prefer a Filter for better control when I have so many activities and search is quite limited. This is my prioritized list of what could be included:

    1. Bike - name
    2. Activity Date - range
    3. Elevation Gain - range
    4. Mileage - range
    5. Moving Time - range
    6. Temperature - range
    7. Effort - range or drop-down-list of labels

    Thank you,
    Neil

PS: What's the point of having a text editor with formatting when the website display ignores some of it. Bullets are ignored so I made my own

  • parkrun tag or activity type

I would love to be able to tag parkruns or have it as a type. Its a free event for all and encourages people from all walks of life to exercise more. Its global and Strava would be great to be able to help promote by this simple way.

  • Please give the option to group the bubbles on the Training Log on the website. I liked the old version where you could actually see a multi-week overview of your training. Since I record warmups and cooldowns as separate runs, I can only see two weeks of training at a time on my screen.

  • Please put basic filtering and totaling on the My Activities page. You can filter by keyword and activity type now, but we need date filtering and being able to filter on other things like distance would be nice too. With totals, I could easily figure out how far I hiked this year, walked in the last 3 months etc. Right now I have to do a download request and filter the data with Excel, good grief!! Plus you really make it nice on the download that I have to convert distance to miles and you put the date and time into a single field that makes it really hard to do date filtering.  In a data export, all of the fields should be individual and in a decent format.

I have been asking for this for a long time (years), and I can't believe it wasn't there from the beginning. This is standard for most web apps that show data.

Everyone, please vote on this, thank you!

  • Can Strava add a feature for Stroller runs? I want to track my progress separate from my solo runs to see how I improve and also would be fun to compare to other stroller runners. Would be nice if this feature enabled single vs double stroller run and to add weight of each child so you can take that into account when measuring progress.

  • I have a feature request around non running/biking activities. I am a multi sport athlete. I bike and run in the summer then I do SkiMo (Racing version of Backcountry Skiing) and Nordic skiing in the winter.

I'd like to have the option of workouts and races when I am doing other sports like Skimo or Nordic. Similar to this:

Then when looking at my training log it is easy to see workouts or races from other standard training sessions. I use this feature a lot in the summer for my training but can't in the winter. I wonder if there is a standard way to make them visable. Something like dots around the edge of all workouts regardless of color.
