  • Activity selection: I’d really like to be able to select ‘MTB ride’ if I’m setting off on my mountain bike, or ‘road ride’ if I’m setting off on my road bike. I appreciate that the requests for different bike types could go on, but it’s kind of annoying that all cycling stats get lumped together for completely different bikes/terrain/events. Also using the ‘gear’ feature doesn’t really help.

Hi Valerio - I was actually looking for the same thing which let me to write my own light-weight app that connects via Strava API. I am using duration/time on the y-axis as that compares better than distance for different sports. You can try here: https://tools.orico.cz/strava-app

Not sure if this is the right place to post this link but since it solves your problem, and maybe for others, I will give it a try :-)

  • Hi all, my running cadence vs distance graph on Strava fluctuate a lot like seesaw graph (refer photo below), my average running cadence is 193rpm, low is 175, high is 196.

Only a handful time my running cadence appears straight line on Strava graph.

The cadence graph on COROS app appears straight line as picture below.

What's the possible issue on the Strava's cadence vs time/distance graph ?

  • Great post, Christina...I've been asking for this "simplicity" for months...even TomTom's "Sport Connect" has these features!
Strava ALREADY has the data we want....just allow us to create our run list with the "data columns" we want!!!!!!

  • the odometer is not updating after each ride. why is that? my chosen bike has X km, i added Y km but the total shown is still X. i remember there was an option to "force refresh odo/distance" but that is gone. can't find it anywhere.

  • David Rochford this option already exists on the pc version of strava. go to training->training log, select your sport from drop down menu, in the next menu time/distance/elevation and then you can select totals by year and month on the right side - you still have to add up weekly numbers manually but that shouldn't be a problem. not all apps have the filter functionality.

  • Eric Peters I gave up on the swim feature and just use swim.com app for lap / structured swimming, and the apple watch "native" workout app for open water swimming. Far more reliable, more features. And it all syncs back to Strava if you want to have it in one bucket to analyse later.

  • +1 for the ability to switch chart x-axes from distance to elapsed time. Especially useful for observing HR during walked recoveries on interval runs, for example.

Another commenter suggests this feature is already available in the web app but I don’t see it. Was it removed?

  • I would like to have private notes on activities.  I like the description field, but I cannot put in personal information etc because it is visible to everyone if the activity is not set as private.

Private notes would allow athletes to add personal notes to an activity in order to track GI issues, aches and pains, athletes that were also on the activity but don't want to be identified, and various other private and personal details that help with training and motivation - but are not something we want to share with our amazing community of followers.

I keep notes in a spreadsheet that I am not comfortable including in the description field of my strava activity and have to refer to Strava and Excel in order to get a full picture of how my workouts are going.

If this feature was implemented, I would then be able to transfer my notes to my workouts in Strava and have a full picture of my progress in 1 place.  I use Strava as my training log and social communications platform for all things exercise related, and having to have information about a bike ride or run in excel as well makes it very difficult to keep a full picture of my progress.

Thank you for the great service!

  • Right now, to manually add an activity you have to be on the main Home activities page. I am forgetful so I have to review my history on the You page, and then return to the Home page to add an activity for my treadmill workouts. It would be nice if there was an add button on the “You” page.

  • Manually enter in Interval Workouts for sprinters/speed workouts

I'm a runner and I like to do speed workout (400m intervals, mile intervals, staircase workouts) and there is no current way to easily log speed workouts.  Right now, I would have to create each interval as a different entry.

I would like to be able to log all of the intervals with one entry where you can add each interval and time below each other like:

    400 meters, 1m30s
    400 meters, 1m33s
    800 meters, 3m20s

    and so on.
this would definitely help everyone that is doing some sort of speed workout or interval training

  • Many people perform martial arts (grappling, BJJ, muay Thai, boxing, etc) as their primary sport, cross-training, or hobby. Martial Arts brings unique demands onto the body that shouldn't be clumped with other forms of exercise activities. The stresses on the body are different, and I think there's value to differentiating a martial arts session from another form of activity on an athlete's training log.

First, let me say thank you for adding the Commute filter to "My Activities" AND for tallying the total number of activities. Superb!

I would now like to ask for another filter feature to be added.

    I want a date filter for example:(mm-dd-yy - mm-dd-yy).

Such a feature will allow me to compare different times of year and keep track of YoY performance.

Like many athletes on Strava, this is crucial for annual goal tracking and monitoring progression. An example of when I personally needed this was to compare how many times/year I commute or opt to ride my bicycle instead of driving a car. This is important to me because I challenge myself each year to increase the frequency and distance. It would also be helpful to compare how well I stick to this challenge during the winter vs the summer when it's easier.

When I do a YoY comparison now, then I have to navigate through multiple pages and scroll for the 'landmark' ride that starts the time period. A simple time period filter would make a tremendous difference and save a lot of time.

    Thanks

  • Feature request: add to ability to create a "Flag" that shows the start and end date of a training block.

I would like to be able to look back and see what workouts I completed for a given training cycle so I can follow it again or make changes.

  • This forum is kind of bust...

I race track. I use track bikee. All my gear says i ride road bike (bikes for babies) but I can only add gear for every other race bike.

Please add track bikes to the drop down list where  you add a new bike..

Sorry if this in the wrong spot but you "help" forum I was direct to be support to ask this question and cant add a fresh topic.

  • I want to be able to compare my current year to date mileage to previous years.

I'm trying to figure out if i've ridden more, less or similar miles to this exact date on previous years, to see if i'm tracking on my goals to improve mileage year after year.  This year, I want to beat last year's mileage by 500 miles, but I have no idea if i'm tracking to do that or not.  I also want to track the current year against my best/worst years, to see how I compare currently.

You should be able to click on any date, and see a year to date comparison of mileage, elevation, etc for all past years.  Similar to what you can already do at each year's end.

  • when viewing the monthly training calendar, it would be super helpful if it would show the distance of the activity and to color code each activity similar to MapMyRide. I am finding i am having to go to MapMyRide monthly calendar. for the rest I use Strava. I like to compare how I am doing to the same month for previous years.

I now simply add the distance to my ride title, although my followers may find it strange I have the distance in my title, so i wish it were just added to the training log.

this is the monthly training log on my MapMyRide.... love the highlighted activities. the orange is rides, purple walks. when i Stand Up Paddle it is blue. Yoga is green and so forth. makes it really nice to see your activities at a glance. also, these are untitled rides and it show the distance.

this is the Strava monthly log. i added the distance to my title so i could see the distance without opening each activity:

  • Jared DiMartine Velo Viewer does this. You can use the free version and manually sync your strava data (literally just hit a button to update), or pay 10pounds / year. It does exactly what you're after.

  • Jared DiMartine => This app also does it but at the month not day-level. Check the YoY Summary section or Charts section. It allows to compare years for distance, time, paces, elev gain including per km, HR, cadence, avg. distance, most active day etc. I realized over time that what I am checking the most is the exactly the YoY summary to see how I progress, improve or end up at the end of the year. The same can be done at month or week level and copy pasted to excel for further processing if needed.

Average Speed and Top Speed would be great to have there :) Thanks!

  • This is another request to Strava to add "orienteering" as a sport. It's not adequately covered by the other sports on the list. I've seen that there have been many requests already to add orienteering; can Strava please give some feedback about this? Is there a plan to add it?

  • Christine K. I achieve this by using different bikes (under gear). It's not perfect, but it works. For example:

training = "My Road Machine", Weight 8Kg
commute = "My Road Machine and pannier", Weight 11Kg

It's pretty easy switching the gear that you used on a particular ride once it's saved - I do this pretty much every time I record as I switch so much.

One "gotcha" is that it will take a few minutes for the updated estimated calories to take effect. For example, assume your default bike is "commute", and you log a training ride. Based upon the speed / total weight / HR etc it estimates that you burned 1000 calories. If you then switch to the "training" bike, your actual calories might be 800 - but this will take a few minutes to update and show. This also applies to estimated power.

If you have a power meter then it shouldn't make so much of a difference as the power you're putting out and HR will reflect the actual effort (and therefore calories consumed).

  • @ Christine K. Why not just list another bike under "my gear" ? Call it your commuting bike or whatever, and include the weight of your panniers etc, then strava will calculate the estimated power differently. All you have to do is remember to select which bike you are using, which surely is easier than some of the things that people expect strava to impliment. It would be no different to choosing between road bike and MTB, for example.

  • Thank you both for the suggestion, that could work but it's nice to have it all logged with one bike so I can keep track of how many kms I've ridden on the tires, chain, and other wear items. Also this feature could be useful for others that ride with different configurations, bike packing and the like.

  • Pilates as an activity

Given that the last reference for Pilates was Sept 2020 as part of the training log contribution, I would like to suggest it has equal status to Yoga.

I now have a growing dislike towards Yoga, given that any of my Pilates activity need to recorded as either Yoga or 'Other'.

There is also the suggestion that a Pilates activity option, could increase the popularity as well as finding clubs?

  • Feature Request

When importing runs from Apple Health (e.g. Apple Watch) as described at https://support.strava.com/hc/en-us/articles/216917527-Health-App-and-Strava, please also import the cadence (SPM). The data is there, but the Strava app does not import it. When syncing runs with the app RunGap, the cadence is included. So there should be no excuse to leave it out ;-).

  • Whats the point, they won't even add simple filtering to the My Activities page, so we could do date ranges etc.

  • The most valuable weekly metric for me to see in the Training Log section is weekly hours. How many hours did I ride each week over the last four weeks?  I need to be able to see the trend as expressed in hours per week. Look at any training plan or hear the pros talk. They all talk about how many hours they will ride each week during a season. HEre's an example in a video by former World Tour Pro Phil Gaimon https://youtu.be/oVMBFw-kLzg?t=185 starting at 3min mark of video. Other weekly metrics (ATL, CTL, TSS) would be nice, but the most important element for me is time, even more than distance.
