How to format your new idea and/or feedback:

Feedback that is actionable and constructive is most effective. When sharing, please consider the following when framing your thoughts:

  • If you have a new idea, it's helpful for us to understand why that feature is important for you and the value it will bring. For example: I want __. It will allow me to do ___. The reason that is important is because of ___. An example of when I needed that was ___.
  • Specific examples and details that illustrate the problem/confusion you are experiencing. For example: When I do ___, then ___ happens and that is not ok because ___.
  • Screenshots that help visually illustrate the problem. For example: Here is a picture illustrating my point ___ from above. See how ___ is doing ___?
  • An explanation of why this is important. For example: This is important to me because ___.
  • If you propose a solution, an explanation of how that solution would help you and why that is important. For example: I think a ___ would be great because then I could see ___. This is important to me because I have to ___.

If someone has already suggested the same idea as you, you can help us quantify the demand for the feature or improvement by upvoting the original comment. To upvote, click the up arrow on the right-hand side of the comment.

  • I want the Strava Routes to display the initial map around my recent routes instead of Washington D.C., if the user has location services turned off. I will allow me to quickly plan a new route. Its important to me because I don’t have to zoom out all the way from DC pan over to europe and zoom into Frankfurt again.

  • I think it would be usefull if you could improve the way to access all the photos uploaded with the activities. A good idea could be to create a web page where the photo are grouped by year / month, with a link to the related activity. At the moment, if I'm not wrong, we only have the possibility to browse the photos  through a "presentation".

    Thank you for your attention.

  • De-clutter feed please.

Being a NICA Coach, we require (our team, not NICA) our student athletes to have Strava for several reasons including having Beacon. Strava is an awesome tool to keep track of their riding.

Please consider giving us a 'switch' to hide and de clutter our feeds from the tons of junk you currently include-Challenges, who signed up for a challenge, and various clutter.

    Thanks!

  • It was a while since i asked for a simple feature like adding speed in running workouts - https://support.strava.com/hc/en-us/community/posts/360073654892/comments/360014807351 and half a years later still no answer. Its not a difficult thing to add. i was realy hoping that strava can be better than endomondo was. Or at least as good as endomondo. Not happening this year i believe. Not to mention that strava is by default displaying moving time and not elapsed time even though i turned off autopause.... If i want full time of my workout then i turn off autopause. if i want moving time i will turn it on. That is why this feature exists....

A good idea would be to add TRAIL RUNNING to the sports modality. We have hiking, and running that would be more flat.

The TRAIL RUNNING, or Mountain Trail, more accumulated slope is done in a positive way. These TRAILS, usually accumulate 1500 meters minimum in competition, and the times of a 21k, are usually 2h minimum.

  • I'd love to be able to set a default map type (e.g. elevation or speed)… and be able to hide heart rate by default on my recorded activities… it is tedious to scrub heart rate visibility from activities where I forget before I hit save, but I enjoy sharing the extra information about where I've been in my posts, and automating both those things would reduce the amount of time I spend fiddling with activity posts.

  • this isnt really a new idea - simply making people aware that Zwift now supports Apple Watch as a HR monitor. kinda cool as i was sick of wearing a chest strap when i have my apple watch on all the time anyway and i know i am not alone there.

  • Hi,

I have set up a Yara International Health and Wellbeing Club and we are doing a fund raising effort. The fund raising effort is based on the weekly time recorded by all the member athletes. The Total Club Hours is the number we are using. Can you help explain how this is calculated - I am ssuming it is using moving time as opposed to elapsed time? Can this Total Club Hours be changed to elapsed time? Thanks

  • Really like the iPhone app, except for this UI issue: Every new iPhone now doesn't have a home button, meaning you have to swipe up from the bottom of the screen if you need to change to another app (at least when running). That makes it *far* too easy to accidentally stop or finish a run. And sadly, my 14.3 mile run was considered finished at 12.6.

Would love to see the placement of those buttons to each corner, instead of immediately above the iPhone "bar", or other solutions I'm sure the UI people can come up with. Thanks.

  • Making segments available for hiking/paddling/etc would be great. This is important to me because I don't run. I use biking segments frequently which I love.

It should be the same chunk of coding for your programmers, so implementation would be cheap on your end, and very beneficial for large chunks of the community. No more need for All Trails!

  • Luke Carter we do have segments enabled for all GPS-based activities, including hikes, rollerskating and watersports. What we don't have (yet) is the option to search for segments besides cycling and running sport types.

Isa Johnson we already have a system in place that detects and prevents the upload of duplicate activities. Unfortunately, this isn't bulletproof and there are still ways to upload duplicate activities. However, it shouldn't be possible to record 2 activities with one device, and it's likely that your friends are recording their activities with the mobile app plus another device. Sometimes athletes do this as a way to have a backup if something happens to one device, other times athletes do it because they want to keep the upload that has faster segment times... Whatever the reason, we don't condone the uploading of duplicate activities because this can cause inflation on local legends, challenge leaderboards, and clubs, among other negative repercussions. Feel free to send us an email directly to support@strava.zendesk.com so we can investigate and take further action. Thank you

  • Back in June this year, Le Col x Strava had an Everesting challenge that I participated and enjoyed doing. Instead of the usual monthly 2,000m Climb challenge, I would love to see Strava introduce a Climb challenge for duathletes ie Run+Bike just like the Le Col x Strava one. Elevation can incrementally increase till end of the year.

  • Done a search but cannot seem to find any where to post ideas.  Sorry if this has been posted before, but I would like to suggest two types of category of Bikes.  There is no option for tandems when choosing bike gear.  - at least I cannot find it.  But in addition to this I would like it broken into two categories - there are tandems where there are two able riders who will share the weight load and potentially have twice the power output, but there are also those tandems where there is a child or disabled ( apologies if that is not the politically correct term these days)  person.  I have worked out for example that with the disable child and the weight of the bike and my weight I am pushing 140kg uphill.  I have therefore made the bike weight 70kg to allow for this.   This must be the same for anyone carrying a child on a backseat or "tagalong".   Any other suggestions  or solutions would be greatfully received.

(Edited - I think this might have gone in the wrong section of the forum - not very intuitive so apologies - please move it to a more appropriate section)

  • I would like to plan my tile hunting routes with Strava Route Planner.

    - For example - allow me to quickly draw a route, that most efficiently covers the tiles I have not yet visited.

There are two ways how Strava could help in this.

#1 - show at least the tile hunting grids in the Strava maps (could be an option you could turn on/off, like in Veloviewer).

    - This would be the "MVP" or minimum feature set for this support.

#2 - show already visited tiles with some highlight-color (could be an option you could turn on/off, like in Veloviewer).

    - This could be considered "should have".

  • I would like to have the leaderboards extended to include activities such as walking / hiking. My current group has quite some people that hike/walk instead of run or ride and not being able to show their efforts in the leaderboard makes Strava the less inclusive in that regard.

In addition, adding hiking/walking will allow use of Strava for events such as Walk for Good, which will make Strava look good :-)

  • Strava recently enabled the feature to see my run power from the Styd foot pod. I would like to be able to define individual power zones, the same as with bike power, to see analysis of Time In Zone, in addition to Pace and HR analysis. It will allow me to do increase training effectiveness. The reason that is important is because of the more accurate information than HR (dependent on all kinds of environmental factors), or Pacing (dependent on profile, wind, etc). An example of when I need that is on every day run analysis, using Strava as my main/one-stop-shop app, not having to rely on different apps to analyze my run effort.

  • More info presented on "My Gear"

I bought a new bike this year. The page for it lists the miles it has covered, but I'd really like to see many of the other fields that are captured for each activity presented as totals, or overall averages as applicable.

So it would be good to see the average and maximum speeds, time ridden, total height climbed and so on.

It is possible to find all this information if I trawl back through my activities, but sorting and presenting it should be simple for a computer!

Thanks in advance for your consideration :)

  • I would like the ability to view my average heart rate (or heart rate zone) and pace (or pace zone) in the Training Log view (or some other dedicated area). The idea here is that I want to see how well I have been following my efforts to run in a particular zone a percentage of the time over a number of months. Many people want to do the 80/20 running or some variant of training within a certain zone targeted and currently there is no good way to track this. Right now, you show Time, Distance, Elevation and Relative effort but other stats like I have described will help people training see clear trends and how well they are following their plan. (If you could give the main zone of a period or percentages all the better!)

  • Hi, when removing a component from the bicycle it would be good idea if Strava asked for the date it is removed and not assume the date of the day. If it cannot be removed on the same day, it is wrong for life, overlapping days (and kilometers), since it is not modifiable as if it can be done when adding a new component.
It would give an added value to Strava, being able to analyze the durations of the components more exactly.
    Thank you for your time.

  • Hi, I would like to propose a new function for segment rankings. I propose to add a ranking also called "chrono" (or something like that), so including ONLY bikers that did that segment ALONE, without aerodynamic advantage of the wake, especially for segment in the plain.

This can be possible simply including/sorting only bikers that has executed those activities without anyone else recording same track in same time.

I think this function is important to make understand real progress of athletes. Someone takes too much advantage to go with others, saving own energies but making good performance (not real).

    Thank you

  • A post about routes

Has the route planner be subtly updated? When planning a route now for the bike it will not allow me to snap to any "footpaths" lots of these in your underlying maps are not "footpaths" and can be bridleways, large paths, cycle paths etc.... By removing this feature it renders the route planning for Gravel Biking and Mountain Biking completely useless.

I understand the need for this change but maybe give a toggle or highlight parts of the route which the route planner deems are footpaths. Then it is down to the rider to not trespass on footpaths with their bike but allows local knowledge to correctly plan routes.

I love using strava to plan my routes usually but with this change it is now impossible to plan properly and I have to use different software.

  • Hi Ben Ashley,

We have indeed recently made some changes to how footpaths are routed upon. See my post in https://support.strava.com/hc/en-us/community/posts/360073377511/comments/4409664867085.

The team is considering ways similar to what you mention here for providing more context about what athletes will encounter on routes and why they may or may not be able to draw a route there.

highlight parts of the route which the route planner deems are footpaths. Then it is down to the rider to not trespass on footpaths with their bike but allows local knowledge to correctly plan routes.

We do already use our own data to override data that may be improperly tagged in OpenStreetMap, but are looking at ways where we could do that more broadly, especially in cases like this. That said, we'd appreciate any changes you'd make to footpaths that you think should be accessible to bikes by following the instructions here - https://support.strava.com/hc/en-us/articles/216917827-Strava-s-Maps-How-to-send-Feedback. We've been working to bring in changes made there in a more timely manner (the latest OSM tags refresh will go out this week) and hopefully that will at least improve in the short-term the routing experience you're having!

  • I don’t see this idea anywhere. It would be helpful to be able to delete activity types that I never use, especially those that show up on my Applewatch, ot at least to have the ones I use sort to the top of the list. I am not an athlete. I am moderately disabled. The only activity types i use are Nordic skiing, which seems to work with my walking bike; indoor bike, and workout. Everything else is just clutter. Having th option to choose the ones I want as part of my profile might be a good way to do this, or a simple DELETE option, i like Strava much bette than the native Apple fitness because Strava doesn’t seem to depend on an unrealistic walking pace or heart rate to move the exercise ring.

  • Hi @varun,

Thanks for getting back to me. The problem is is that I make routes without knowing and check them when I get there.

I don't mind having the option to submit feedback on route type but it is very hard to do this with lots of routes.

I think I will just route on running instead. The most annoying thing is that this means I cant use my heatmap.

A warning (unfortunately the same as komoot does it) would be best I think.

I will say though that I appreciate all the changes you lot have been making recently. But this one I cannot get onboard with

  • Ben Ashley do you have coordinates or screenshots of the specific footpaths that are no longer being routed on? We should be able to get them changed in OpenStreetMap to designate bike access as allowed.

By doing this you could compare covered distance for a year!

  • Hi Jason Lamoreaux,

first of all thank you for the accurate and fast explanaination.

    I understand the point.

I thought that could be possible indeed: when I check times of other athletes for segments in plain I always wonder if they were alone.... then I go inside the related activity and I see that this person has recorded the activity "together with athletes A, B, C etc...", so this was the reason of my request. Anyway you are right, I cannot be sure if they were taking advantage of the draft; they could even cycling not in line or distant enough to not have draft effect without any difference in their times

Thank you again Jason. Have a nice day and work!

  • Hello,

I've been looking through "My Activities" listing ... everything with date, time, distance, vertical meters and relative effort...

I'ld like to see other or optional measures of ordering like average velocity, max velocity, average wattage, average vertical meters/ kilometer and maybe filters for my activities... by year, distance slider (e.g. between 30 and 50 km), time slider (e.g. 1 - 2h) used bike... maybe marking different years with different colours

This would allow us to find e.g. our fastest ~1hour-ride. Since not everybody has powermeters and many do untracked sport, this would allow for a rough estimation of our fitness and makes finding the hardcore-rides or races faster.

    Greetings!
