How to format your new idea and/or feedback:

Feedback that is actionable and constructive is most effective. When sharing, please consider the following when framing your thoughts:

  • If you have a new idea, it's helpful for us to understand why that feature is important for you and the value it will bring. For example: I want __. It will allow me to do ___. The reason that is important is because of ___. An example of when I needed that was ___.
  • Specific examples and details that illustrate the problem/confusion you are experiencing. For example: When I do ___, then ___ happens and that is not ok because ___.
  • Screenshots that help visually illustrate the problem. For example: Here is a picture illustrating my point ___ from above. See how ___ is doing ___?
  • An explanation of why this is important. For example: This is important to me because ___.
  • If you propose a solution, an explanation of how that solution would help you and why that is important. For example: I think a ___ would be great because then I could see ___. This is important to me because I have to ___.

If someone has already suggested the same idea as you, you can help us quantify the demand for the feature or improvement by upvoting the original comment. To upvote, click the up arrow on the right-hand side of the comment.

  • Greetings.

    On the website.
Under Settings --> My Gear --> My Bikes --> Components - Add Component...
There is a drop down list with many common components.

Would it be possible to add a component called MISCELLANEOUS, to track odd components like replaced spokes, or any miscellaneous component the user wishes to track the date and mileage?

    Please consider adding.
    Thank you

  • I would like a strava function which works out how much co2 your are saving by commuting on your bike, walk, or run. I would like this function to have a rewards feature and associated challenges. It present in a clean and visual manner. I worked out I could be saving 750kg of co2 per annum by swapping my van for my bike on the daily commute, imagine how much the strava community is saving collectively.

  • Strava Challenges are a month long. However club leaderboards are only a week long. This makes it impossible to get a meaningful sense of accumulated distance/time etc.

I have created a group of runners and we have a go at the month long challenges. However, as the leaderboard resets after a week, the app does not allow us to see each other’s accumulated distance beyond one week, meaning the leaderboard is meaningless beyond a week. The only way around this is to set up a separate spreadsheet and add our data to that, which is clunky and isn’t a solution, just a workaround.

Solution? Provide the option in Strava to reset the leaderboard on a weekly/monthly/annual basis.

  • Will be great to add "Paragliding" and maybe other types of free flight as a separate activity. This especially helps during hike & fly when I track both segments with the same Garmin watch.

    What we need for this:

        - separate activity type;

        - separate analytics fields

             - examples:

                      https://www.paraglidingforum.com/leonardo/flight/2670682

                      http://www.dhv-xc.de/xc/modules/leonardo/index.php?name=leonardo&op=show_flight&flightID=1328708&lng=english

                      https://www.xcontest.org/world/en/flights/detail:Purzellino/27.10.2020/11:32

This will help to separate flight from other activities and avoid using multiple platforms.

I think this especially important for clubs like : https://www.strava.com/clubs/744464

  • Can Strava create segment recognition when you are at the lower end of your segment time. For example, if you have  recorded your slowest segment time you get a sloth, if you recorded your second slowest segment time you get a snail and the third slowest segment time you get a turtle. This would be like the trophies you get when you do well on a segment, but it lets you know when you are under performing on segments.

  • Add tracking of gear/components usage time.

Currently the distance for each gear/component is tracked, which is very nice to see its milage. However, I think it would be also good to track a time and the time from last service (which need an option to mark a date of the last service). This could help to determine when next service is required. Adding a recommended service period would be also good and have warning when it is met.

    Thank you for considering this.

    Cheers
    Tomasz

  • On mobile, we have the graphs with time, distance, and elevation. I love that.

I do indoor and outdoor biking a lot. When I log an indoor bike, the graph's dot on it stays at the bottom. This is frustrating because I like visualizing that I did a workout.

The solution to this is, for the bike option on the mobile graph, being able to toggle if we want to have it be indoor versus outdoor. Indoor then, would have the time [and maybe you all could add other features where the distance and elevation wouldn't be necessary (maybe perceived effort?)]. Outdoor would have all the usual features including time, distance, and elevation.

I just would love to be able to toggle being able to see the time spent doing indoor biking and have the graph go up based on that time, rather than staying at the bottom even though I biked. This is super helpful for visualizers like myself. I'm sure many people would find this useful. Everyone can appreciate a good graph

  • Hi Strava

    Regard; running mode

I would love to have the feature to get a notification after each KM where I get total KM - the time for last KM -  and total time. During listen to music, a voice will inform you after each KM. Very helpfull!!

Endomondo have it now, but closing in Denmark 31.12.20.. I use strava on the bike and endomondu when running, only because they have this feature.. Try it - to understand what I mean :-)

  • Allow components to be suspended and then reactivated - Like Alessandro, I have bikes that I swap chains, wheels and tires, depending on the season and event. I would like to be able to manage them when I load the activities and consequently how many km I do with a specific component. A simple "Reactivate Component" feature would be a bit help

  • Hi ! Back on 'progression analysis' topic, for which Eric (https://support.strava.com/hc/fr/community/posts/360073654892/comments/360013323632), Maryus (https://support.strava.com/hc/fr/community/posts/360073654892/comments/360013107491) and I (https://support.strava.com/hc/fr/community/posts/360073654892/comments/360013235312) suggested several relevant ideas.

The difficulty, at least for me, maybe I am not used enough to read it, is the 'Freshness & Fitness' diagram...
I have the perception that I have progressed since last year, but the diagram shows a clear decrease...

After several investigation, I found that the reason cuold be due to the change over the period on FC and Pace Thresholds.

If you confirm that it could impact the 'Freshness & Fitness' trend, then I would suggest ti display on this diagram any change on parameters that could impact the curve so that you are aware of which portions of the diagram are consistent for analysis.

    Cheers

  • Documentation update: "Android Wear" is now known as "Wear OS".

On current OEM Fossil, Skagen and Misfit watch faces Strava complications for Ride Time and Run Time Weekly totals images get cut off on my Fossil Sport smartwatch(see image below):

Could the data be displayed in another way? Progress dials?

An update to the Wear OS app would be appreciated. Looks like the last one was on Apr 28 2017 and there have been many new features added since then. There may be better ways to display the same or more information.

I would totally use a Strava specific watch face if one were included with the app.

  • Personal heat map layer on Route Builder

I would like to be able to be able to show a personal heat map layer on Router builder. The reason I would like this is so that I can create a route that is somewhere I have not been before. Currently I use two screens however it would be so much easlier if one of my personal heat maps could be a layer. I think this would be a great additional for those who like to explore a new city like myself.

  • I'd like to see KOMs / QOMs by age group for us age-challenged but not overly physically-challenged folks.  I'm in the 65-69 age group and it is basically impossible for me to get a KOM but not too difficult for me to get an age group KOM.  I'm competing with my age group cohorts at the national and UCI levels, why not on Strava?

  • Please implement filter options for the phone/website Strava feeds. I want more control of what I see on my feed.

There should be an option to filter a preferred subset of activity types: Ride, Run, Walk, Hike etc. Personally I want an option to filter out 'Virtual Rides' as I am primarily interested in outdoor activities -- other users will have different preferences.

A second level improvement would be the option to filter by distance or time so only significant activities can be seen.

Finally I would like the option to filter out Challenge, Join a Club, Suggested Athletes notifications.

By offering filters such as these it will provide users more bandwidth to follow more athletes, better target feedback and enhance the social experience.

These filters cannot be difficult to create. They have been requested many times in the old forums. Perhaps make it a premium feature as an incentive to sign-up.

  • A Community thread for discussion of the primary 'Activity Feed' both for the website and the phone apps.

This is the primary port of call for Strava users and knowing about feature requests/possible improvements here will have the greatest impact.

  • I would find it very cool if we could have a more detailed view of the elevation on mobile. Currently, when looking at the km splits it shows overall elevation gain/loss. I believe that the option to see elevation gain and loss simultaneously would be more insightful. This could be an easy implementation where for example one taps on the word 'elevation' at the top of the column and it could create two mini columns with the legends '+' and '-' at the top to indicate gain and loss, respectively. If this is unclear I can send a diagram of what I mean.

  • Would like to echo Simon P with the needed ability to hide virtual rides from my feed.  I'm all for virtual training, but I would rather be able to see real rides in the feed as my own preference.

I think that Whoop, also falls in this needed category to turn off.  Now we get to see how people sleep and their recovery graphs.....watching people kudos the pros with the wearable is mildly funny in my mind.

  • I want ebike live segments. It will allow me to compare performance mostly in MTB singletracks and descents The reason that is important is because of many ebikers dont set ebike ride just to have normal live segments and that cause frustration among muscolar cyclist being stolen their KOM by ebikers. Please just add Live Segments to Ebike acticity and soon more ebike segments will be created and ebike user will have their own category to stick to. Thanks

  • Suggestion: The ability to customize the record screen during an activity would awesome - iPhone or Apple watch.  Seeing distance, speed, heart rate, and time is not enough.  Having options for avg speed, altitude gain, splits, watts, etc. would add so much live performance tracking.

  • Is it possible to separate times on the cycling leaderboard to differentiate between riding as a pack or group and riding solo? Obviously faster times can be achieved when streamlining in a group than when riding solo. Both are legitimate but it would be great to be able to filter the two categories and track your individual and group times.

  • Hi, was just wondering if you could add more components in my gear section. there are numerous moving parts that can be added so we can keep track of the wear and tear.

    that's all

    Thanks

  • I would like a 'hide virtual rides' button on my activities feed from all riders please.

I am not interested in them, never look at them, don't ever want to do virtual rides or read about other's.

    Thanks.

  • Tony Croke - There is no way for Strava to accurate determine if someone is riding in a "group" or "solo".  Very few people would accurately input this data themselves.  Heck, most people don't even input what bike or type of bike they are using.  Strava's algorithm for determining a "group ride" is terrible.  I've had it say I rode with multiple other people on rides where I never once saw them, I just happened to ride somewhere near them for a while during the ride.  You are correct that group rides have the potential to be faster than solo rides, but unfortunately there is no realistic way to accurately separate them.  Also, anything you do now would not help the decade or more of historical data in the system that does not have that designation, so your leaderboards would be full of mixed up data.

  • Reinforcing the request by Abbey M to have 'Skateboarding' and/or 'Longboarding' activities.

I mostly do long distance skating (LDP - Long Distance Pushing/Pumping), and with endomondo shutting down, the community is now settling with Strava and recording activities as 'Inline Skating'. This isn't fair to inline skaters (they're can be faster than us longboarders), because our results show up in the Segments they maintain and compete.

It would simply be a "copy" on the 'Inline Skating' activity, only called Skateboarding or Longboarding, and with the capability to have Segments for this activity type.

  • Hi,
I’d like to be able to create a personal heat map of my regular bike rides, ebike rides and a combination of both (based on my selection). Thanks!

  • I would also like to be able to create an ebike segment out of a regular bike segment, with the exact location, distance and elevation. There are too little ebike segments and it would make it much easier to support the growing ebike community.

  • If an ebike segment and a bike segment are identical, it would be interesting to see the comparison of those times in a personal view (this should only be a personal view for my own reference, not something that is visible to everyone because it may ruin the experience for some bikers)

  • Lastly, it might be a good idea to split the ebike rides into two categories - those that are limited to 25 km/h (as in most of Europe) and those that are not. It’s quite a difference between someone that rides 30 km/h on a flat when the engine turns off at 25 km/h and someone that rides with the same speed but with their engine on
