How to format your new idea and/or feedback:

Feedback that is actionable and constructive is most effective. When sharing, please consider the following when framing your thoughts:

  • If you have a new idea, it's helpful for us to understand why that feature is important for you and the value it will bring. For example: I want __. It will allow me to do ___. The reason that is important is because of ___. An example of when I needed that was ___.
  • Specific examples and details that illustrate the problem/confusion you are experiencing. For example: When I do ___, then ___ happens and that is not ok because ___.
  • Screenshots that help visually illustrate the problem. For example: Here is a picture illustrating my point ___ from above. See how ___ is doing ___?
  • An explanation of why this is important. For example: This is important to me because ___.
  • If you propose a solution, an explanation of how that solution would help you and why that is important. For example: I think a ___ would be great because then I could see ___. This is important to me because I have to ___.

  • Hello,

I think a nice added feature for running would be to add year Achievements for the specific year we are in. For example best 5k (10k, half) time for 2021. Some of us are past our prime so it would be nice seeing after a good run that I had my fastest time for a 5k for the year.

  • TL;DR: Omit chairlift/shuttle rides from downhill ski/snowboard/mountain bike

The Slopes app does a great job of removing chairlift rides from days out on the ski hill, but when they get imported into Strava, it looks like distance covered in your workout.

It's nitpicky, but it would be great to not get those "cheater miles" in our workouts. :)

  • I want an option to tag an activity as "Warm up/Cool down". This would then not count the activity in my "number of runs" but still include the distance and time in my overall stats.

E.g. If I do a race, with a warm up and a cool down, that currently gets classed as three runs but I only see it as one.

Over the course of a week/month/year I like to calculate the average distance of a run but this number is skewed by shorter warm ups/cool downs.

  • Can Strava break out biking options on the app? I would suggest matching the various types of biking that people do. E.g., road, MTB, and gravel as a start. The app does this already with different types of skiing. Users would be excited to see more biking types as options.

  • I am requesting an upgrade to Segment Explore that can answer many of the other requests on the Explore feature. When going into Explore if I could click on a segment result and hide it from my results, similar to hiding segment results from your activities it would be great.  I still want to be able to see these segment in my activity results but not when searching for a new ride/run. I like to go on new routes and use explorer to plan rides/runs.  If I could hide segments that I know well or I'm not interested it would allow me to see the less utilized segments.  I could zoom out and look for longer segments only.  It would give me control to really dive into finding the segments I want (length, hilly, rare, etc...) without a lot of special features being added to Strava.

  • I would love to see Strava put effort into building a full-featured cyclo-computer display on the mobile app.  My phone has a MUCH larger screen than my Garmin or my wife's Hammerhead.  I think about some of the data that I can display on those devices--like grade, altitude, heartrate, zone, average speed, max speed.  As I get older, I find myself preferring my phone as a computer--because I can read it without prescription glasses.

I would LOVE to see Strava put more effort into the realtime display during a ride on mobile.  I am not the only person getting older, and not the only person with an enormous phone screen.  I bet there are ways you could make that computer more fully featured than a lot of the aftermarket computers--while also being easier to read and one less device to carry.

  • One of the metrics I would love to see in Strava is Pw:Hr or also known as The ratio of Power and Heart Rate as a measure of decoupling. This gives you information about your performance, but also on how good your aërobe capacity is building up. It used to be available in TP basic by accident and they removed it recently, but I think it would be a great addition to the metrics in Strava too.

  • I would like to find segments for swimming to compete and challenge with other swimmers and to monitor personal improvement of achievements.

For running and cycling it is very easy to find segments nearby. For swimming this option is not (yet) available although a lot of swimmers use STRAVA and have already created segments. The only way to find them now, is the notice in the activity áfter the swim you recorded…

  • Hello,
In our area we have many Strava users with e-bikes.
I think that they don't know that they are not working properly when they save their rides as normal bike rides.
For some MTB uphill rides we found these users in the top 10.
    That's not really fair.
I asked some of them and they didn't know the difference.
If we want to change the ride to an e-bike ride, that's the last option in the list, so no one saw that.
My idea is when someone saves a ride with good segments, ask in a popup window what type of bike he/she used. (MTB, road bike, e-bikes, etc).
I think this would be a good way to filter out some of the wrong users

  • Suggestion: The ability to customize the record screen during an activity would awesome - iPhone or Apple watch.  Seeing distance, speed, heart rate, and time is not enough.  Having options for avg speed, altitude gain, splits, watts, etc. would add so much live performance tracking.

  • I would also like to be able to create an ebike segment out of a regular bike segment, with the exact location, distance and elevation. There are too little ebike segments and it would make it much easier to support the growing ebike community.

  • Inventory
    - Access from a mobile application
    - Temporary removal of a part
    - Measurement of the resource at the time of replacement / removal
    - Fast switching of some things: wheels, tires, pedals
    - Turn on notifications when passing a certain mark
    - Recommendations from Strava for care when passing resource marks
    - Entering a resource when adding a part, for example, if it is not a new part
    - Transfer of parts between users, for example, if you rent a bike or sell a spare part
    - Option for self-assembly wheels. Separately hub, spokes, rims.
    - Search for popular brands from the list. Replenishment of the list of positions. Part characteristics.
    - Integration with MyCampy

    - Statistics resource details among users

  • I have just converted my 8-year endurance horse riding history from Endomondo. Mostly Strava is very comparable but I have found it irritating that it does not offer horse riding as a sport. I have to select "ride" and pretend that my horses are mountain bikes. Please would you add horse riding as a sport and make it possible to bulk convert from "ride" to "horse ride".

  • I'm not sure if anyone has already posted this idea, but it would be nice to have a way to update local trail conditions natively within Strava for MTB riders. Apps such as MTB project have this feature, but its often out of date. I think it could be valuable to have a section in ride information to submit trail conditions when adding photos, changing gear, etc. This could be a simple as a wet/dry slider bar much like the "how did that activity feel" metric. This would allow for your followers to see much more updated trail conditions.

  • Rucking

It would be nice to see a ruck type added with a pack weight variable... I have been doing a lot of rucking lately, under hiking and trail running. But with the extra 30-40 lbs, I am moving much slower. So of course, Strava is logging it at a much lower training level causing all the stats to be much lower. Worthless for everything but distance and heart rate.

  • More realistic bike types

The list of bike types is currently Road Bike, Mountain Bike, TT Bike, and Cross Bike. This list seems antiquated and needlessly sports-centred. There are plenty of other types of bike that could be added: gravel/adventure bike, hybrid bike, cargo bike (long john), cargo bike (long tail), tandem, folding bike, utility bike, touring bike, trike, BMX...

  • Please make a separate topic for segments. Segments is, in my opinion, the most important feature of Strava. This is the feature that brought me to Strava and keeps me as a premium users. There is a lot more to discuss about segments other than segment leaderboards. For example, difficulty to discover interesting segments that aren't popular for whatever reason or issues with live segments.

Let's take this segment for example: https://www.strava.com/segments/26455567

This is a great trail running segment in local mountains that almost nobody knows about. Running this segment is like competing in a mountain running race - it would take around 2 hours or longer for most people to finish it despite the segment being only 7 miles long. But there is one problem - you will never find it. There is a number of shorter segments around - so this segment will never show up in the top ten in segment explorer no matter how much you try. Even if I zoom on the area that shows both start and finish of this segment and no other segments, Strava still won't show it. Why? Only Strava can tell. The only way to find segment is to see another person's Strava activity where they matched this segment. That is how I find the best segments, by the way.

Second, let's talk about Strava Live Segments. This segment apparently is fine and, despite having nearly 3000 ft of downhill, syncs as a live segment to my Garmin Fenix watch, which I am really happy about. Please keep it this way! But the only reason it syncs to my my watch is because it has just a tiny bit more uphill than downhill. It the owner had adjusted this segment a little bit so that the amount of downhill was just 100 ft greater, Strava would deem this segment dangerous and stop syncing it to devices. And yes, apparently, according to Strava this segment is less dangerous than a flat road where elevation drops just 13 ft over a mile. The latter won't sync to my Garmin watch. That seems just way too much arbitrary to me, especially when applied to running segments.

Please add a topic to discuss that.

  • Personal heatmaps while planning route are perfect feature. In combination of public heatmap I save a lot of time. But I still miss one imporatant feature that whould allow me to plan routes 100% in strava and not use Komoot to replan route.

I'm taking about the feature, that would allow to put pointer anywhere on the map. Not it sticks to closest know path but a lot of the are not present on the map.

Please add an option to not "Follow ways" know from Komoot.

  • I would like default gears to be managed a little bit better. To only have one shoe for all foot based activities seems incorrect ( I don't use my running shoes for my walks, hike or gym). I would rather be able to set my default gear based on the sport/activity. this would accurately measure the distance used on the shoes more and give better timing to when you should retire your equipment instead of false positive. Being able to set the defaults per activity base would solve this quite easily i think.

I would also like the ability to report some route segments, whether they are simply 'bad' (I know this is subjective) or need some adjustments. There is one in particular for one of my running route that due to the GPS , is not attainable.

  • I'm a switcher from Endomondo, as it will be down soon. I miss some basic stats in strava I often used in Endomondo. In particular: calories burned (daily/monthly/yearly-view), weight tracking, best times for particular distances (10km/50km/100km....).

  • I like the "explore segment" feature, and use it freqvently. However I think it would be much improved if it was possible to select other activities than just running or cycling. There are other activities I would love to explore segments for, for example skiing. I know a lot of people who run and cycle during the spring, summer and fall, but then go crosscountry skiing in winter, so I think a feature like this would be much used and appreciated by the same users who now are exploring the map for cycling and/or running segments.

  • Hello,

my request is simple and I think invoked by many users. As users we use different devices that record different data with GPS and barometer: many problems are present on this data. So it's okay if you as a team work to optimize the import of this data into your system to be as accurate as possible. But in the meantime it is time to provide us the possibility to edit some informations: I remember that many of us pay for your services. So, here are the requests.

    - In case of file upload it should be allowed to edit distance and elevation, leaving visible or with the possibility to revert to the original ones.
    - In case of manual upload it should be allowed to associate to the activity a map created with Strava Route Planner (although obviously there is no movement data) thus having information on distance, elevation and climate, leaving the possibility to edit the distance and elevation (consequently no intermediate times or segments can be tracked).
    - Strava Route Planner should allow you to create segments that are not necessarily related to the roads and trails on the map (so many times we go offroad, right ?)

    Thanks
    Good job

  • Training plans in Strava are very difficult to understand and to follow.

You need to give the option to export, in a easy way, the Training Plan to the Garmin (or similar) platforms.

Currently, it is extremly easy to follow a Training Plan created by Garmin in the Garmin platform. But if I want to configure the Strava Plan in the Garmin platform (or similar), it is a lot of manual work that I think nobody is doing. It is a needed step, since when you are performing the training you are using a Garmina device or similar, you are not using the cellphone/computer looking at a calendar. What the user expects is the have everything configured in their device.

Without an easy way to be able to export the training plan to other platforms, the Training Plan module of Strava is pretty useless.

  • 'My Activities' - Accessing more data

I want to be able to access and manipulate/filter more data in the 'my activities' section on the web and have the functionality to export to an excel readable format. By adding in more columns - equipment, ride type, average HR, speed, calories etc and the ability to filter these it will allow me to do have a better understanding the cumulative training over a period that can be set by the user e.g last 4 weeks, previous calendar month etc. The reason that is important is it would help ensure I wasn't over training and could better understand fatigue and performance based on previous training. An example of when I needed that was recently I spent some time in Mallorca and would have been useful / interesting to see totals of the 6 weeks of the trip. Having the option to export and take it offline would also be great when looking at more complicated analysis.

  • Automatic segment flagging

Any segment KOM performance should be flagged where:

    1. the average power is greater than the max. power.. obviously has bad/questionable GPS data
    2. the segment's grade is greater than 1%, but power is zero Watts - segment likely in a car
    3. 3% + uphill segments of greater than 200m where average speed is greater than 50km/h - segment likely in a car

What about using the person's CP (cycling) curve to predict which segments should be flagged b/c that performance would be likely impossible for that rider?

What about using machine learning to predict which segment's to flag? Can teach by feeding it manual flags.

  • iOS and Android each have a "dark mode" or "dark theme" built-in, but the app builders choose whether to enable this feature.  I ask Strava to do so.  Strava's bright white background with dark text results in unnecessary battery drain on AMOLED displays, and it's not ideal for the user's vision in low-light conditions.  I do turn the brightness of my device all the way down in low-light conditions, but Strava's legibility at a glance on my MTB rides at dawn would improve if Strava made a dark theme.  A night mode where red or orange is the dominant color would be even better.

  • Hi,

I noticed that the heatmaps are modified since yesterday. But now it's not very clear where you ran during your timeframe. I loved to check new roads and then see the map fill up. Everytime I was able to run a new road and go further then I was ever go before, it gave me a happy feeling!

Now with the new design, it is gone! I have now the walks and the runs combined. But I don't like that. I want a different filter for the run, walk & bycle. Now it's all mixed together.

Please bring it back. Also the color blue-red is not the same as before! It is not good visible.

This was the reason why I subscribed, because i loved the heatmaps!

    Kind regards.
