How to format your new idea and/or feedback:

Feedback that is actionable and constructive is most effective. When sharing, please consider the following when framing your thoughts:

  • If you have a new idea, it's helpful for us to understand why that feature is important for you and the value it will bring. For example: I want __. It will allow me to do ___. The reason that is important is because of ___. An example of when I needed that was ___.
  • Specific examples and details that illustrate the problem/confusion you are experiencing. For example: When I do ___, then ___ happens and that is not ok because ___.
  • Screenshots that help visually illustrate the problem. For example: Here is a picture illustrating my point ___ from above. See how ___ is doing ___?
  • An explanation of why this is important. For example: This is important to me because ___.
  • If you propose a solution, an explanation of how that solution would help you and why that is important. For example: I think a ___ would be great because then I could see ___. This is important to me because I have to ___.

If someone has already suggested the same idea as you, you can help us quantify the demand for the feature or improvement by upvoting the original comment. To upvote, click the up arrow on the right-hand side of the comment.

  • Its pretty frustrating that every segment is flagged when you do shuttles and get a really fast time on the uphill. Why can't you just flag that segment? If we do heaps of shuttles runs you have to try split the ride up and delete a whole lot of bits. It should be much similar, especially now that we are paying for leaderboards.

  • Hello,

    I have a few suggestions/questions.

I have just received my 2020 resume, great !

Would it be (or is it) possible to add a feature that we could enter our goals for 2021?

I forecast xx days, xx kms, xx elevation...
Then, I would receive messages, xx days until you reach your 2021 goal...
Another way to find the motivation !

Another thing I would find interesting as a MTB riders, would be to split biking between sub-categories (MTB, Road, Gravelbike...).

Finally, as a person that loves maths and %...is there a possibility to know your percentile in a segment?

My position is 224 out of 4530 people in a segment, I am in the top 5%.

Thanks for the feedback and congrats for the app !

    Fred

  • I absolutely endorse Mike Robinson's request to implement filters on activity feeds (https://support.strava.com/hc/en-us/community/posts/360073654892/comments/360013422611).  I have some great friends who I wouldn't want to mute, but when they start posting half mile dog walks 3 times a day or separate warm-up/cool-down in addition to their main activities, which flood my activity feed, I do despair!  Like Mike, I think it would be a good draw to have this for paid members only.  I know of loads of people that would use this ... and pay for it.

  • It's pointless to have a filter for "this year" when the year began just 3 days ago. How about a filter for "past 12 months", or "last year"?

  • Could you guys please, please improve the Heatmap!  Your individual ride map is far superior to the heatmap map because you cannot zoom into the detail enough on the heatmap to make it very usable.  I am doing a major ride-every-road project in a big city and I need detail on what I have and have not ridden.  Your heatmap is too difficult to see that detail.  For one thing, you "speckle" the route with the first time it is ridden.  That speckling, combined with a lack of adequate zoom in on the heatmap make it very difficult for me to identify small roads I haven't ridden.  Third Party applications do a much better job but they are getting so popular to use instead of your heatmap that now the API max is getting exceeded every single day and so they aren't usable.  That's an indication that your feature (which we are all paying for) is far less useful.  I'd like to see some improvement effort since this is a paid feature!

  • I want to be able to see mileage splits when choosing the activity "Nordic Ski." Currently the activity only shows the overall average pace, unlike the "Run" activity which shows each mile's pace. It will allow me to have a better understanding of my progress as a cross country skier, and to analyze my activities more effectively.

  • Feature Idea: Ability to Record Indoor Spin Class Data from Cyclebar, Soul Cycle, etc.

I currently enter my indoor group spin class data as a manual virtual ride.  However, the spin class provides more data, including average watts, calories, etc.  A manual virtual ride entry only allows total mileage and time to be entered.

I'd like to see a new manual exercise category called something like "Spin Class" that would allow me to not only enter mileage, but average/max wattage, average/max RPM, and calories burned.  Strava should then be able to use this data to calculate a relative effort, rather then me trying to subjectively assign an effort level.  This would also allow me to track over time in Strava my progress and more accurately fitness and freshness levels.

  • Feature Suggestion: add ability to track hours and mileage for gear with grand total and something like a trip reset.

This would be useful to track for mountain bike maintenance intervals.  For example, every 40 hours of riding your supposed to do an upper suspension fork service.  Every 100 hours a full rebuild.

May also be useful for tracking use of running shoes and knowing when to replace or maintenance intervals for other gear.

  • Having Strava download "starred" routes automatically to Garmin devices is great but I've found turn-by-turn not working on my Garmin Edge 530 as it needs the .TCX file downloaded instead of the .gpx that strava does automatically download for me.   I'd like the ability to pick the type of file to download automatically.   Otherwise I end up manually exporting the route in .tcx format and manually putting it on my Garmin Edge.

  • I noticed something today while skiing and snowboarding with a group. While there is the option available for these activities, it doesn’t record appropriately. I wish there was a feature similar to the auto pause that works so well for cycling and other activities. If the activity could pause when it senses steady elevation gain, it would stop adding false data to the day. This afternoon, for example, strava says I had an average of 8mph and a distance of over 18 miles. Running another app parallel, that accounts for lift and pause time, showed an average of 22.3mph and distance of just 10 miles. Any data collected while skiing or snowboarding is not reliable, except for top speed. I wish this was fixed, so I could just use one app for all activities.

  • Hello,

my request is simple and I think invoked by many users. As users we use different devices that record different data with GPS and barometer: many problems are present on this data. So it's okay if you as a team work to optimize the import of this data into your system to be as accurate as possible. But in the meantime it is time to provide us the possibility to edit some informations: I remember that many of us pay for your services. So, here are the requests.

    - In case of file upload it should be allowed to edit distance and elevation, leaving visible or with the possibility to revert to the original ones.
    - In case of manual upload it should be allowed to associate to the activity a map created with Strava Route Planner (although obviously there is no movement data) thus having information on distance, elevation and climate, leaving the possibility to edit the distance and elevation (consequently no intermediate times or segments can be tracked).
    - Strava Route Planner should allow you to create segments that are not necessarily related to the roads and trails on the map (so many times we go offroad, right ?)

    Thanks
    Good job

  • Strava, please don't add any of the new activity types that are being requested, horse riding, skateboarding, basket weaving, etc. until you provide a filter in activity feed so that we can decide and select the activity types we want to see. My activity feed gets swamped with weight training, yoga, walking etc. and I'm only interested in seeing cycling.

  • I would like to be able to have default gear for virtual rides and default gear for outdoor rides. Since the pandemic a lot of people have permanent indoor training setups. It’s a little bit annoying having to edit every indoor ride i do in order to track the use of my gear.

  • Under stats, there's no option to view total miles for WALKS or HIKES. This is not tracked any way besides a post in the newsfeed. Walking/Hiking miles don't even contribute/appear in your overall activity stats which is ridiculous. Why is swimming a stat but walking and hiking isn't? I'm sure more people walk/hike than swim.

For clubs/challenges, there's no way to have a TOTAL miles all time view, only a weekly view of total miles which is ridiculous.

    Feature Request:

    1. Add Walks and Hiking Stats under your Activities
    2. Allow Total miles view for clubs and challenges

  • Apple Watch New Feature.

As a runner that regularly does speed work on a track or threshold repeats during longer runs, I’d like a lap button added to Apple Watch. Ideally this new lap would be comparable to a split where I could see my avg split pace for it.
In example, on a run where I am alternating between 1k fast and two minutes of jogging, I’d push the lap button at the beginning and end of each transition so that in both real-time on my watch, and later reviewing my data would be more insightful because it would separate these laps.

  • In the current My Activities section, I would like to suggest to add a column to show which shoe was tagged to the corresponding activity.  Adding this column will allow users with multiple shoes for specific workouts to see whether they are properly going through their shoe rotation. In the current setup, users are able to filter shoe-by-shoe in the drop down.  However, it would be nice to see it as a current header

The reason that it may be important is that it was recommended that runners should often rotate shoes to prevent injury.

    Much appreciated

  • What about assigning a regional moderator to a specific trail region or location?  There are more and more garbage segments popping up or segments that are duplicates of ones already in existence.  The moderator could act like the moderator currently in place in trailforks.  If someone creates a new segment the moderator would need to approve it.  Moderator could also delete duplicate segments or garbage mid run segments.  Obviously this would apply more to MTB than to road riding...

  • Manual activities allow for time, and distance. But what about elevation? Sometimes I forget to strava but I still know how many ft of elevation I gained, why isn't there a way to add elevation to manual activities, like cycling?

  • Aggregate view of time spent in different HR zones over a week/month etc

I used polarized training method for my running and it is very important for me to know time spent in HR bands over multiple sessions.

Is it possible to add a screen with a viz like a stacked bar graph breaking down time spent in various HR bands over. “Period of time?

    Thanks

  • Training plans in Strava are very difficult to understand and to follow.

You need to give the option to export, in a easy way, the Training Plan to the Garmin (or similar) platforms.

Currently, it is extremly easy to follow a Training Plan created by Garmin in the Garmin platform. But if I want to configure the Strava Plan in the Garmin platform (or similar), it is a lot of manual work that I think nobody is doing. It is a needed step, since when you are performing the training you are using a Garmina device or similar, you are not using the cellphone/computer looking at a calendar. What the user expects is the have everything configured in their device.

Without an easy way to be able to export the training plan to other platforms, the Training Plan module of Strava is pretty useless.

  • 'My Activities' - Accessing more data

I want to be able to access and manipulate/filter more data in the 'my activities' section on the web and have the functionality to export to an excel readable format. By adding in more columns - equipment, ride type, average HR, speed, calories etc and the ability to filter these it will allow me to do have a better understanding the cumulative training over a period that can be set by the user e.g last 4 weeks, previous calendar month etc. The reason that is important is it would help ensure I wasn't over training and could better understand fatigue and performance based on previous training. An example of when I needed that was recently I spent some time in Mallorca and would have been useful / interesting to see totals of the 6 weeks of the trip. Having the option to export and take it offline would also be great when looking at more complicated analysis.

  • Hazardous Virtual Segments?

Can we remove the ability for users to flag VIRTUAL ride segments (e.g. those for Zwift, Bkool, RGT, etc.) as hazardous? By their very definition they can't be hazardous - there's no traffic, no pedestrians, no stop signs - but still people are flagging segments they just "don't like" as hazardous, which then removes them from everyone's rides, not just their own (they should be hiding them if they don't like them).

  • I’m still amazed Strava doesn’t provide basic filtering on the feed page. Why do you make us scroll past every dog walk, warm up/cool down, 2 mile commute both ways, accidental start/stops, and every other type of activity people don’t care about? I’ve been a paying member for years but am seriously consoling not renewing because my feed is littered with junk. At a minimum, a filter by type. I’m a cyclist. I don’t care to see runs/walks/weights/yoga/swimming. I have a background in computer programming. This can’t take more than a day or two. This has to be a conscious decision not to provide a filtering feature. Why???

  • Segment leaderboard suggestions

    1. Would it be possible to have an all time top 10 leaderboard that showed the top 10 fastest performances (not the top 10 fastest athletes). I think this would be an interesting way to see consistent performance.
    2. An all time local legend top 10 would also be another possible enhancement.

I run in different shoes than I walk and those are not listed.
Please add "Unspecified/Unknown" option for not displaying such information.

  • Folders for routes!
I do have a club, with club-ride routes, I do also have commute-routes, training-routes etc.
The route section on Strava as of today is just messy.

  • Automatic segment flagging

Any segment KOM performance should be flagged where:

    1. the average power is greater than the max. power.. obviously has bad/questionable GPS data
    2. the segment's grade is greater than 1%, but power is zero Watts - segment likely in a car
    3. 3% + uphill segments of greater than 200m where average speed is greater than 50km/h - segment likely in a car

What about using the person's CP (cycling) curve to predict which segments should be flagged b/c that performance would be likely impossible for that rider?

What about using machine learning to predict which segment's to flag? Can teach by feeding it manual flags.

  • Labels for routes to be able to filter.

When opening the routes page I would like to be able to create labels to sort the routes. I want to be able to create labels for MTB, Gravel and Road for instance, but also for areas where I go biking. The next obvious step would be to filter the routes by label so that I don't have to sort throught tens of routes to find the right one.
