How to format your new idea and/or feedback:

Feedback that is actionable and constructive is most effective. When sharing, please consider the following when framing your thoughts:

  • If you have a new idea, it's helpful for us to understand why that feature is important for you and the value it will bring. For example: I want __. It will allow me to do ___. The reason that is important is because of ___. An example of when I needed that was ___.
  • Specific examples and details that illustrate the problem/confusion you are experiencing. For example: When I do ___, then ___ happens and that is not ok because ___.
  • Screenshots that help visually illustrate the problem. For example: Here is a picture illustrating my point ___ from above. See how ___ is doing ___?
  • An explanation of why this is important. For example: This is important to me because ___.
  • If you propose a solution, an explanation of how that solution would help you and why that is important. For example: I think a ___ would be great because then I could see ___. This is important to me because I have to ___.

If someone has already suggested the same idea as you, you can help us quantify the demand for the feature or improvement by upvoting the original comment. To upvote, click the up arrow on the right-hand side of the comment.

  • I only want to sync some activities from my Garmin to Strava. So I want to be able to choose what is uploaded and what is not.
This is very important for me, and would be a reason to pay for premium.
I have a speed sensor on my bike which syncs with Garmin, but if I have the auto sync with Strava, every little ride gets sent to Strava (i.e. taking my bike to buy bread) and I end up with an activity feed full of useless information. To avoid that I would like to be able to choose what to upload

  • Add Paddling options alongside run/swim/ride. This would bring new users to the platform to make use of the excellent sharing and challenge options your app has. Currently paddlers are moving to app like Paddlelogger that support their activity.

  • I'd like to see a breakdown of my run in standard distances 1k, 5k, 10k, 20k, 1mile, Half-Marthon, Marathon etc, for every run. You currently only see those breakdowns if you get a new PB or 2nd/3rd fastest.

I'm also gutted that Flyby seems to have vanished this past week, I used to love watching it...

  • Emma Alex - They did not get rid of the flyby feature, they just decided on their own to disable it for EVERYONE without telling them.  Each person now has to go into their privacy settings and "enable" it.  Unfortunately, most people such as yourself haven't learned this, so only a few of us have it turned back on. It is mostly useless because Strava made a unilateral decision to change things without telling anyone.

  • Is it possible to put your routes into folders. I have rides for MTB and road bike, plus rides for my local club which all get mixed up together. I t would be easier to have a single folder for each category and open that up instead of going through page after page of rides.

  • Suggest that FlyBy privacy settings be refined so that Virtual rides can be visible in FlyBy whilst still preventing Real rides from being visible.

The privacy concerns about FlyBy are much less significant for a virtual event.

Enabling FlyBy for Zwift events lets MeetUp organisers and riders review their event/race and provide a more accurate finish order than Zwift meet-ups do (because of the start line ordering and distance issue)

  • I would like you to add extra sport - kick scooter as there is many of us who would love to use Strava and do some “challenges” but unfortunately scooting is not as fast as cycling and is faster than running. Basically scooting is half running and half cycling. Other apps like Adidas Running, also previously Endomondo use included scooting and it was awesome. .

  • Feature Request: I have 4 bikes with electronic shifting. It's difficult remembering when I last charged the batteries with this many bikes. Three times now I've gone out on a ride only to have the battery die halfway through. Strava has a great feature with running shoes that let you put in an end of life mileage. When this number is hit, you are notified. Could we please add a similar feature to bikes - a 'Battery' component with a mileage field that reminds you to recharge the battery after the number is hit. Pretty pretty please:)

  • I would like to suggest an enhancement/fix. I notice that when walking very slowly with my old dog, my iPhone shows a meandering route:

But if I use a watch (in this case, a few days earlier), it's less meandering and the distance is far more accurate:

Notice the distance captured using my iPhone is 20% longer than was recorded by my Apple Watch. My Apple watch is much closer to what my car says when I drive the route.

It looks like the iPhone is either capturing too many data points for this very slow dog walk or is failing to correctly consider the horizontal accuracy of the coordinates returned by the GPS. The walking distance, when captured by the phone, is just not accurate.

  • When I record my dirt bike rides in Trail Forks when they save and upload to Strava it saves the activity as "Stand Up Paddle".  It would be great if you guys supported "Dirt Bikes".  All the bike features would be useful for this sport as well.

  • I am quite disappointed that I am no longer able to set a custom specific date range for Heatmaps. Since moving to a new city, I have been planning on creating my own personal week by week recreation of my exploration of the city during my runs, but now I am only able to select yearly date ranges. Heatmaps is my favourite new feature, and I use it regularly. I personally don't care about being able to save the heatmap since it is easy enough to screenshot them, but I would really love to be able to go back week by week, or month by month even, to visualize my progress. This small change would make a huge difference to me!

  • I would really like to have Strava allow me to set up a start date and end date for a new component or time between tune ups on my bike.  It would automatically calculate total miles ridden or total hours ridden for that item.  This feature would save having to manually calculate that information.  This might even be a fee based item that a bike shop could pay for to help their customers keep track of regular maintenance times.

  • Detect if GPS is ready on Apple Watch

I have experienced issues with my watch not having a strong GPS signal when starting a run which results in Strava falling back to the pedometer and providing inaccurate metrics. Having a message when starting a new activity that warns of the GPS signal is not adequate and giving the option to continue with the workout or wait for a stronger signal would be nice.  Something like this

  • A simple feature that's missing on Strava (Desktop version and Mobile App):

In Post-Activity View, ability to sort the list of segments by the column type by clicking the grey header bar containing the column names

i.e. Sort by Time for longest/shortest segments, Sort by Achievement level Gold/Silver/Bronze etc.

Benefit to user: After a long ride/run with hundreds of segments, find the ones that "matter" quickly

  • It would be great to have a skitouring- or winter-activity in the route planer including the heatmap that only includes winter activity.

This would help a lot with planning skitours, as you would be able to see where other strava users were moving.

Currently it is not easy to distinguish between 'summer' activities like hiking or trailrunning and the 'winter activities'. Therefore, the route planner used easily for ski touring activities, as the heatmap could always mix it up with summer activities.

  • Can you separate units of measurement rather than just say everything is in Kilometres and Kilograms, or everything is in miles and pounds.

When I run I like my activities to show my distance in miles but my elevation gain in metres.

Also to be able to set the units of measurement for different disciplines would be helpful. My son uses miles when he cycles but when he runs and does athletics interval sessions on the track, he would prefer to view these activities on Strava in metres.

  • What I’d like to be able to do is apply some sort of filter to people I’m following. I know I can just mute them, but I’d like some more granular control over what I see and don’t see.

For example, I’d like to be able to filter out the following as I have no interest in seeing some activities

    - Walking the dog type rubbish.
    - Non-Cycling/Running/Swimming activities
    - Activities under a certain duration and/or length
    - Activities flagged as a ‘commute’

Ideally, I could define some filters and then selectively apply them to one or more people who I’m following.

Are there any plans to enable this sort of functionality?

  • Idea is to allow user to create pop up notifications for bikes based on either hours and/or kilometers ridden to make it easier to remind and track maintenance intervals. Kind of similar as for running shoes.

  • Why "treadmill" and "spinning" are not available to be inserted as manual activities? I can record HR and time directly on Strava app, and could insert additional data, as distance later...

As we already have "workout", "stair-stepper" as on, I don´t know why such this popular activities are not in the list.

  • Private Notes on a Public Activity:

I would love to have a "Private Notes" field available on activities that are otherwise public. This would be just one field that allows users to enter notes viewable only to themselves when looking back on activities that they don't care to have others see on otherwise public activities. This would allow me to enter private notes for things such as such as my nutrition intake on a long ride...or notes about aches/pains...or even journal types of notes about other experiences during the activity that I don't want public..."saw a blue heron perched on the post at Ol' Mac's farm...reminded me of Dad...miss you, Dad."

Following is a screenshot example of what I'm picturing that I came across while searching for any information about such a feature (credit to "DanDawson" from a different forum altogether).

  • E-bike filter for Segment Explorer.

I hope Starva adds an option to filter E-bike segments for Segment Explorer. It would be nice to know where other E-Bikers ride.

  • I'd like to see all of the rides I've done over a set time period on one map perhaps with the ride line being a different colour for each ride. That would be amazing.

  • Where I run has quite a number of short steep hills. When I run there, Strava is not reflecting these hills especially when the hill is within a single km travelled. So I have a hills that is 25M of climb and it is within 1 km of travel, so Strava reflects this km as -6m of climb, which is of course incorrect. It should be reporting both the climb and descent within that km.

I would like Strava to make two changes to allow a true reflection of effort (climbing and steep descending are much harder and slower than flat running)..

    1. In the Splits section Please replace the ELEV column with two columns reflecting the true terrain traversed, one recording descent and one recording ascent. This data will probably need to be collected and stored at a frequency of around every 10 seconds to be meaningful.
    2. Please report, on the run summary screen, at a minimum, the total climb recorded from the first change in the Elevation Gain field. A nice to have would be the descent too, but it is much less important.

  • Skateboarding as an activity type. It is already listed under the valid ActivityTypes, so why is this not reflected to the end-user?

  • I want to be able to set a default sport e.g. E-Bike Ride. It will allow me to do import my activities and be sure that they are tagged as the correct sport. Currently I have to import the activity then go into the activity and edit it to change the sport.

The reason that is important is because I sometimes forget and end up getting mixed up in normal bike segments which probably annoys others if I steal a KOM accidentally.

  • Gear management – need option to un-retire components

For bikes/cycling we need an option to un-retire or pause gear components, i.e., for correct accounting in the standard approach of changing bike gear such as wheels, cassette, etc.

For me ist seems that this could be easily achieved by either

    • - providing an option to un-retire components
    • - adding a third status "paused" which can be undone

Of course, only one component of the same type must be active at any given time, all others retired (or paused).

This looks like a very simple change and I would hope that this could be implemented in due course.

In the longer run, it would even be very attractive to be able to reuse components on multiple gears and track that correctly – i.e., they (wheels, etc.) could be in "paused" status on one bike and active on a different bike – handling overall usage of the component correctly across the different bikes.

  • Is it possible to split outdoor runs into road run and trail run, or have a separate activity for both.

My times are different depending on terrain, but as a 5k run for example is just that, my best effort will always be road, but I would like to see when I have beaten that on my trail runs as well.

  • Hi, I suggest the altitude graph on the app should be interactive. It is already interactive on the web site, but not in the app.

On a trekking activity this would be very important as it would give precisely the idea on how long did it take to reach a particular altitude point / place on the map.

I am referring to this post here https://support.strava.com/hc/it/requests/2025516

  • There is only one category for Cross country skiing which is listed as Nordic skiing. However, Nordic skiing consists of Classic XC, Skate XC and Back country skiing which have very different performance profiles. E.g. With Classic XC most people can hit a max of 20 km/h on flat ground whereas in Skate XC it can be as high as 40kmh. This results in skewed results in segments and it becomes hard to compare performances against others. If you could separate Nordic Skiing in to Classic and Skate it would help in more logical comparisons with others.

  • I want rowing added as an activity on apple watch app. It will allow me to row without my telephone in the boat. The reason that is important is because the phone has no safe place in a boat and the watch is attached to me, records heart rate and will not sink to the bottom of the bay if the boat is flipped. An example of when I needed this feature is as we are recording training pieces for an upcoming race that now will be entered virtually rather than in person.
