How to format your new idea and/or feedback:

Feedback that is actionable and constructive is most effective. When sharing, please consider the following when framing your thoughts:

  • If you have a new idea, it's helpful for us to understand why that feature is important for you and the value it will bring. For example: I want __. It will allow me to do ___. The reason that is important is because of ___. An example of when I needed that was ___.
  • Specific examples and details that illustrate the problem/confusion you are experiencing. For example: When I do ___, then ___ happens and that is not ok because ___.
  • Screenshots that help visually illustrate the problem. For example: Here is a picture illustrating my point ___ from above. See how ___ is doing ___?
  • An explanation of why this is important. For example: This is important to me because ___.
  • If you propose a solution, an explanation of how that solution would help you and why that is important. For example: I think a ___ would be great because then I could see ___. This is important to me because I have to ___.

If someone has already suggested the same idea as you, you can help us quantify the demand for the feature or improvement by upvoting the original comment. To upvote, click the up arrow on the right-hand side of the comment.

  • English (German below):

I'd like to add an activity for stuff/games that is taking place in virtual space (but has real effects, of course). Another possibility would be to add an activity that represents games in VR that needs actual fitness.

This morning for example as a warm up for my run I played the campain from "Pistol Whip: 2089", a game for the VR headset Oculus Quest. After 30min my legs burned:-D

There are a number of VR headsets out there where you can buy and play fitness games. Other games are fitness games even if it is probably not their first intention. (Another example is "Beat Saber". There are others.)

    ---

  • Many of the segments I ride are flat. In these instances, all of my top times/results are due to drafting in fast group ride. After I upload a ride, is it possible for Strava to show a top 10 personal best trophy based on average power? This would be a nice acknowledgment of a hard ride (either riding solo or pulling more in group setting).

  • Suggest to add dark mode. This would allow battery savings on devices with OLED screens, and well "dark mode" offerings are the norm. Looking at bright-white Strava in the evening is rather annoying.

  • Support heart rate recording from watch and phone app at the same time. Currently if I want watch HR recording, and ability to use the phone app, I have to record simultaneously on both devices and then delete 1 recording. E.g. if I start an activity on my watch, I should see that activity running on my phone.

  • New feature: route planning exclude roads

In the route planning I'd be good to have a feature where I can exclude certain roads/paths, I live near a popular cycle path which I'd rather avoid and it always plots me on there as it is so popular. Or just plot more to your own heatmap would suffice.

  • Walking Splits

So far you only show splits for running but there are a lot of power or race walkers who want to keep their walking and running data separate. I have to log everything as running then workout manually my annual totals for each which is not ideal.  It has been asked for before but its something that is really essential for athletes like myself who do multiple disciplines

  • I'd like to address that we can't change to the activities in our profile page (run/ride/swim).

Being stuck with zero activities for swim, now, during this covid era, is just disappointing. It's a constant reminder of how long it's been since I was able to swim.

Also, my company just opened a club on Strava. All they can see of me (without following me) are these 3 pre-defines activities which don't represent me as an individual. Nor can they see all of the inline Skating that I've done.

This topic had comes up every year for several years now. I don't understand why it hasn't yet been addressed.

  • Hello,

I think a nice added feature for running would be to add year Achievements for the specific year we are in. For example best 5k (10k, half) time for 2021. Some of us are past our prime so it would be nice seeing after a good run that I had my fastest time for a 5k for the year.

  • Can you add your 'Training Calendar' (which is on the web version) to IOS?  'Training Calendar' is great.  'Training Log' isn’t what I want because it doesn’t tally up my monthly or yearly miles.

  • I have two teammates that were killed by drivers whilst riding, who used Strava.  It would be nice if Strava would place a black ribbon across their page/name.  What do you guys think?  Other cyclists have died, from natural causes as well, that could be memorialized.  Thoughts?

  • I would like to have a separate FTP for different bikes. This is because the power reading from my road bike is significantly different than my Peloton bike. This means my power zone stats are incorrect for all rides with one of my bikes. This makes it not possible to track progress during seasons when riding both bikes.
I would also like to see my Peloton bike automatically selected when a Peloton ride is uploaded.

  • I thought it would be good to add a combined distance (running, swimming, cycling, walking etc) for the week on the profile page of the app.

The combined distance could always be there even when you switch between running cycling etc.

So it would add your running distance to cycling, walking etc.

  • Search activities by type / date on the app.

At the moment you have to scroll through every activity to find the one you are looking for.

  • For ebikes - when users enter an ebike into their Gear collection, include a setting that tags it as an ebike and automatically changes their Activity to Ebike Ride whenever a new activity is recorded using that piece of gear.  If it's their default bike then they never need to worry about changing it on every single ride they do (current situation) and won't be accidentally taking up KOM's / QOM's.  I'm not sure why you haven't already done this to be honest.

  • TL;DR: Omit chairlift/shuttle rides from downhill ski/snowboard/mountain bike

The Slopes app does a great job of removing chairlift rides from days out on the ski hill, but when they get imported into Strava, it looks like distance covered in your workout.

It's nitpicky, but it would be great to not get those "cheater miles" in our workouts. :)

  • Trail Condition Reports

It would be incredibly helpful to both users and trail stewards if Strava offered some means to rate/review the current condition of different trails/segments.

This would get tons of use in our MTB/fat bike community all year, but also hiking/XC skiing here in Minnesota.

  • Hi, Could you add a couple of new types of sport? You have loads, but I would really like to use Strava for Paramotoring and Paragliding to log my flights.

There is nothing really like strava for these sports. Theres a couple of sites for paragliding but nothing for paramotoring and is getting to be very popuplar, and paragliding is already very popular.

As well as the stats, we're missing the social element to share flights and give kudos etc. I think that there is a big opportunity to enter the airsports community.

  • I would like to have the possibility to display the times for the most relevant distances within a running activity. This option is technically already possible, namely when you run within your three personal best times. Let's say I run a 13 km race and it automatically shows me that I ran my personal-best 10 km.
As a hobby runner I like to run a good time on my favorite distances from time to time, when my legs spontaneously feel good. In doing so, I don't like to do an extra activity for each run-in and run-out kilometer (cumbersome, thread-spam) to then track the desired fast-run distance cleanly. In addition, one does not always run a personal best time. Nevertheless, a good time is motivating and well useful for training determination.
In these cases I have to calculate the time laboriously.
It would be wonderful to get the relevant time directly displayed.
For a 23 kilometer run automatically the fastest 5 kilometers, the fastest 10 kilometers and the fastest HM.

Optionally, you could then consider which times are displayed in the thread. It would be nice to have a selection option here.

Additionally, I would like to see something similar for the 5/10/HM monthly challenges. The current version, that simply each run over 5 km with the total run times per kilometer is evaluated simply makes no sense at all, or do I only see that so?
It would be so much better to calculate and score the fastest 5k from each run.

  • I would like to be able to use the flyby feature for a segment against myself on a previous attempt, so I can compare where I was losing time and making up time vs. previous segment PR attempts.

  • Have different default bikes for virtual vs. non-virtual rides so I don't have to manually edit every virtual ride to not be my road bike.

  • Will Miller we recently released the ability to search through past activities in the mobile app - https://www.strava.com/clubs/231407/posts/14507542. No more scrolling!

  • Varun 🥐 P. Great thanks, was this already there in the app or was my request to search through activities the reason? Nice to be able to search but it’s only on the profile activities. Can you get the search function on the feed page (you) as well please?

  • Tag you activity

I want to be able to tag any activity after my own purpose.

It would allow me to add a tag for my favorite course, a vacation trip, my rides to my mother-in-law, or whatever. Then adding a tag search to that and a calendar to the search feature I could see how many times I did my favorite course during the last month or months, how much I biked during my vacation trip or visited my mother-in-law and so on. It’s important to have the possibility to add multiple tags so that I can have one tag for “vacation” and another one “vacation location” just as one example.

The reason why it’s important is because it would be so much easier to find any properly tagged activity to find that epic ride, compare how you preformed during a specific trip and so on.

  • I would really appreciate it if dancing was added as an activity that you can record.
At the moment I use Strava for tracking my cycling and walking but my main sport is dancing so it would be great if I could track it to. I do more dancing than cycling and walking so more than half of my exercise isn’t logged. For these reasons I would love to have dancing as one of the activities.

  • I have several suggestions about activities.

The first is to have your common ones, ones you've recorded an activity in the last 6 or 12 months, listed first.  Maybe even ones that you'd used multiple times.  This makes it easier to select an activity you are most likely to use.

The second might be to put your non-used activities into a "more activities" or ellipsis button.  For the times that you want to record an esoteric activity that you do infrequently, like zip lining, you can find it.

And the third is to allow a few user defined settings.  Different people want to record different workouts or activities.  We see several addition suggestions in these 8 pages, but really it could be anything that you want to record as a workout or activity.  A friend of mine has an e-foil, and when she records it she puts it as a ride, and then I bug her about it when I see she was riding on the lake again.  Not too many people have an e-foil, so making it one of many activities that everyone sees when trying to record a new workout, especially when in alphabetical order, doesn't make sense.  But if you could let a user define an activity for themselves, that would let everyone record their own important activities.  Ideally you also let people define what attributes of the workout are important, and even a calorie calculator.  But really, the first thing is just time, a map, and editable details the user puts in.

These options would make Strava even more useful to a wider audience, but also improve the user experience and keep things simple for the core users.  Thanks!

  • I've been pointed to here by Bryant (Help Center)as he is saying this is the best way to ask for new features to Starva Devs.

Is there a way to have avg speed displayed in workout page?

In Ride I have: avg speed, distnace, moving time, elevation (no calories? why?_

In Walk I have Distance time pace elevation calories

InHike I have Distance Time Pace Elevation calories

In Run I have Distance Moving time pace Elevation calories

Why not just display all those in the workout sheet (You have all the data and calculations are not some diffcult math problems)? It wold be nice to define those laso to be displayed during workout on mobile app (but i understand it may take a while).

It would also be nice to have some stats like km done during a day a week a month a year etc.

Fitness Syncer has a lot of nice stats but why use another product and connect it to Strava instead of using Strava itself?

  • I have been mostly rucking lately so it would be nice to have that as an exercise option along with the weight carried to properly calculate the effort. It is not running, walking, or hiking, even though you do all of those things, just with a weighted vest or pack so the stats are always way off. Most of the time, I've got 30-60-pounds on my back, and sometimes I take it up to 110 pounds with no way to properly track it.

  • Request for a very simple Metric for ride: Ride Score

    Easy to calculate.
Can be used for further goals or challenges.

Ride Score= ride in Km. X elevation gain in Km

Many riders are riding in area full of mountains. So for them elevation gain is rather approachable target then KM covered.
As we can see that many targets/challenges in strava are primarily focused on KM.

Ride score can create a rather interesting metric.

E.g. Rider 1 does 100 km and elevation gain of 200 m, this will create a ride score of 100x0.2=20
E.g. Rider 2 does 20 Km and elevation gain of 1000 m, this creates a ride score of 20x1.0= 20

Now create challenges or goals based on ride score.
