  • An explanation of why this is important. For example: This is important to me because ___.

  • Please add personal heatmaps to the mobile app (Android)! Would be great to have easy access to it in the same way that the global heatmap is now integrated to mobile, particularly for when I'm out on a run and want to figure out a route with streets I've never been to.

  • Hi there!

I like most of the changes and improvements you've made to the new Heatmaps feature, but one thing that used to exist that doesn't anymore is the ability to set a date range for the heatmap. It seems like you all chose to just have "All-Time" and by year, but I'd really like to set a specific Start Date and End Date for my heatmaps.

I'm working on a specific running project, and I want to track my progress from a specific date when I started the project up until a specific month. I have about 18 months of screenshots, that show my progress over time, but now I can't do that. :(

Please add the ability to set a start date and end date back!

    Thanks!

  • Please integrate the personal heatmap in the Recording map of the strava app (iOS is preferred) so if you are out with bike you could see where you never been.

    Thanks

  • I'd like the ability to share heatmaps with other Strava users if I grant permission. When doing running / MTB groups, it's helpful to be able to see how familiar athletes are familiar with specific areas. It makes planning less arduous. Honestly, it also makes it less likely someone will exaggerate their experience and try something over their head, which can be dangerous for mountain biking.

  • I suggest adding total stats (distance, hours, elevation gain) to the heatmap, maybe as an option. I share the link to my heatmap, and I'd like to have this information shown.

  • Allow user to overlay personal and global heatmaps.

I want to be able to overlay my personal heatmap with the global heatmap. It will allow me to determine where I want to do an activity next and how much of a certain terrain I have explored. The reason that is important is because I use strava to find new places to go and this would allow me to do this easily. An example of when I needed that was when I was looking at the global heatmap and wasn't sure if I had explored an area - I had to toggle back and forth between my personal heatmap and the global and align the views to determine the answer.  The global and personal heatmaps would be overlayed with the global beneath the personal using different coloring heat.  Allow method to change color option for both personal and global heatmap would be a nice to have.

TLDR: Add toggle for "Show Global Heatmap" on personal heatmap page under map settings.

  • Why there is no 2021 activities in my Heatmap? And why there is no option for seeing this year's activities? Anyone else with the same problem?

  • Hi Alex Stephens and Efrem Spataro! Thank you for your feedback on personal heatmaps and for your suggestions on adding this feature to Android and iOS. I will pass along your suggestions to our Product Team for future consideration. For reference, you can read more about our personal heatmaps here: https://support.strava.com/hc/en-us/articles/216918467-Personal-Heatmaps

Also, have you checked out our newest update to the Maps tab on mobile? We've added a few great new features including "Discover New Places", which can be found under "Segments" of the Maps tab. You can read more about our update here: https://support.strava.com/hc/en-us/articles/360061773291-Segment-Suggestions. I hope that helps!

  • I would like there to be a feature (similar to flyby) where you can pick multiple activities (of the same route) and view them on a dynamic map - thereby allowing you to view (live) the multiple times you (or your followers) have done the route and thus compare your performance and see a virtual race when played as an animation.

This would have the benefit of allowing you to visually compare your (or your friends) historic activities and see how your/their performance is along the route. You could see where you need to improve your performance on a route this way.

it would be amazing to have playback of virtual races along an identical route.

  • I suggest adding a timeline feature that allows athletes to see the progression of their heatmap over a selected time period. An animation like FlyBy's would be a good starting point.

Also, a feature that could calculate the percentage of public roads traveled within a city's limits would also be awesome. This is a project I am currently working on.

  • Please make the personal heatmaps experience better on mobile web. Currently the sidebar and header take up a very large proportion of the screen, so the heatmap gets very little space.

  • I doubt anything will change but I just want to throw this out there. I absolutely love the heatmaps portion of Strava, and for me it is the only paid feature I want to use. I was more than happy to pay the $20/year back when that was an option but now for $60/year I just can't justify it. I am probably not the only one in this boat and it looks to me like you are missing out on more revenue by using the new model. Just a suggestion.

  • Hi cosma verra! Thanks for your feedback on including more activities in your Personal Heatmaps. At this time, almost all activities are included in your heatmap data, however, just combined into different categories. The following sport types will be included in each grouping:

    • Ride: Ride, Handcycle, Wheelchair, Velomobile, E-Bike Ride
    • Run: Run, Walk, Hike, Rock Climbing
    • Water: Swim, Kitesurf, Windsurf, Kayaking, Rowing, Stand Up Paddling, Surfing, Canoeing
    • Winter: Alpine Ski, Ice Skate, Backcountry Ski, Nordic Ski, Snowboard, Snowshoe, Winter Sport

You can check out more about these categories here: https://support.strava.com/hc/en-us/articles/216918467-Personal-Heatmaps.

Hey Will Slocum! Thanks for taking the time to share your thoughts about the Strava subscription with us! We will definitely pass your feedback along to our Product Team for consideration.

  • I would like to see options for modifying the width and intensity of the activity lines on the heat map. I have a desire to show all the routes I have run in a city when I've visited it and share this image. I think other's who try to "run every street" would love to show this too. However, the width of the line is too thin to differentiate from most of the city road detail, even with the multiple map options. Also, if you've run frequently in one area like a track, but only once in another location, the track will be a bright color and the rest of the relative gradient of the heat line will just be one color. I'm imagining integrating some basic line modifications on the "My Heatmap" screen that you might see on a word document such as line width/thickness. Also, the option to turn off the "heat" function and just show a non-gradient line would be helpful.

  • Hi Strava, you're awesome, but since a few days my activities (both running and cycling) no longer get added to my personal heatmap. I have not changed any of my settings. What could possibly be the issue?

  • Hi Dan Tsai and Herman H.! Sorry for the trouble you're experiencing with this feature. We've opened support tickets for each of your requests so that we can help troubleshoot the issues you're running into and help with finding a fix.

Colin M. Thank you for your suggestion! Please keep in mind that the heat map line will become more bright and visible the more you utilize a specific route. The visibility of your personal heatmap lines is a direct result of how consistently active you are in a specific area. In regard to creating other options such as a non-heat visual that appears as a gradient and the option to share the map with friends, I will definitely pass this along to our product team for future consideration! It seems that a few others on the forum like Richard Close and Gary Mansell have some overlap with you on the ability to share, thank you all for your feedback on this!

  • I'm in the same boat as Herman H.  Ever since last Tuesday (8/17) my personal heat map has not been picking up my runs.

Without races I've decided to run every street in my town as a challenege, so this is borderline heartbreaking since my heatmap is my tracker.   :-(    Can you look into it / tell me if I need to do something?

    Thanks!

  • My last 4 activities from 8/15 to 8/22 did not get incorporated into my personal heat map. I have not changed any settings. Any idea why this would be happening and what could be done about it?

  • I just updated to two different, new versions of Strava on iOS today and for the life of me cannot find where the personal heatmap is. The release notes said to head over to the Map tab, but I can’t find the personal heatmap there. What am I doing wrong?
