  • Bonjour,

  • We would like the group challenge to have a cumulative total. We set our target as a group not as individuals. No objection to the leaderboard but would also like the running total. 🏃🏻🏃‍♀️😀

  • I want the possibility to invite people to my challenge via a link. It will allow me to share it with my club easily, without invitating everyone one by one. But I just read that it's limite to 24 people, so the feature is unfortunately useless. 100 would be the minimum to make interesting. Also, not being able to access my challenge on my browser is surprisingly annoying.

Thanks for the efforts, but as mentionned in a previous comment, that can't be your final product.

I hope it'll be improved very soon.

  • I would also like to have cumulative challenge. I would like to team up with my family and have us go to a goal together. It feels like every social/community feature is competitive. I think competition is fine but a few cooperative features would be nice.

  • Hello

I have a club profile of which I'm the admin. It would be great if I could create challenges within my club for my clubmates and I to compete on, rather than just inviting people I'm friends with. Some of the challenges are also not accessible for cycling, just running.

    Thanks

  • No clue how to create a public "challenge" or can only a Strava admin do that?  There is a big group on Facebook for "Stop Soldier Suicide" 250 miles in July.  Would love to get this on Strava, 10.8K members in the group in FB.

Thank you for your interest in hosting a Strava Challenge. As of now, Challenges are only run in conjunction with Strava and are done in partnership with endemic and global brands in running or cycling.

However, we have released Group Challenges where athletes can challenge their friends. You can find more information here.

  •  I want to be able to find group challenges on the desktop version of the website. It will allow me to share a direct link on my website and social media. The reason that is important is because I want to grow my group. An example of when I needed that was today when I created a challenge in the app, but can't find it on the website.

  • I would like the challenges leaderboards (not just group challenges but also Strava challenges) for running challenges to be based on elapsed pace, not moving pace. It used to be this way, but I see it now shows moving pace, which is not as much of a challenge.

  • How do I edit a group challenge I've created?

  • Darryl Perry Group Challenges are currently only available on the Mobile App, but we appreciate your feedback. I'll pass this along to our Product Team.

Chris Russell currently you can only edit the Title, Description, and users invited. As well as delete the challenge. Please follow these steps to edit:

    Using our mobile app:

    1. Go to the Group tab
    2. Select the Group Challenge you would like to edit
    3. Click on the 3 dots in the upper right-hand corner of the screen ...
    4. Challenge Settings Screen

This will take allow you to:

    • Update the participants
    • View the challenge guidelines as well as the qualifying activities
    • Edit the Name and Description of the challenge
    • Delete Challenge

Stay tuned for future updates to this feature!

  • love the new concept and normally max of 15 participants would be enough, however if you are admin for a club it would be great to automatically add all your club members to a challenge, have a digital badge. hope you can build on this.

  • I'd like to start a club that promotes the use of local cycle paths.  It seems to me that a non-competitive slant on any challenges would work better.  It would be nice if we could have challenges that don't encourage very fast cycling along lanes that are shared with families, dog walkers and horse riders.

I'm lucky to have a political administration that's committed to cycle paths - but we have elections due in September, so any activity that would increase support for continued investment seems to me to be a worthwhile effort

So, my ideas for different types of challenges are -

    • Ride at least one of these (selected) segments.  This could be used to promote the use of a new cycle path - we've had two opened in the last two months alone.
    • Ride at least x of these (selected) segments.  This type of challenge might be used to encourage the use of existing cycle paths.
    • Ride at least x of these (selected) segments with another rider.  This type of challenge might persuade riders to team up with other riders they meet on the path.
    • Ride this segment in no less than x minutes.  This type of challenge is intended to promote a leisurely pace and hopefully result in more cyclists chatting to other users and possibly making friends.
    • Ride at least x of these (selected) segments that you haven't ridden on before.  This type of challenge might be used to encourage the use of existing cycle paths.
    • Spend at least x minutes in this area.  We're lucky to have a few repair stations (picnic benches, track pumps and tools) along some of the paths.

  • I would like to know how to make the group challenge have a cumulative total?

  • As per comments above can you amend the group challenges to total the distances completed by individuals as a total. Other issues I've found is when editing prior to the start of a challenge, you can't change a distance. Also only having 25 maximum isn't great if trying to do a large challenge involving lots of people. Why have a limit at all?

  • Thank you to everybody for your suggestions. As of now, we don't have the option to create a cumulative challenge, although when a group challenge ends, you will see the cumulative statistics for all participants if you opt for the "Most Activity" challenge type. I shall pass this onto our product team.
In regards to having a 25 maximum participant number, this was decided because our intention with this feature is to help athletes find connections and motivation with their friends on Strava, and we believe that a more intimate environment was best for our feature launch. There are more exciting updates coming soon, we appreciate your input.

  • There should be 3 free or 2 free always. not just 3 to try out and then having to pay.

  • Thanks for letting us know that updates are coming soon. Any information about when "soon" would be? Would like to use the groups functionality for a charity challenge but current functionality is too limited. Ability to use groups and see the leader board in the web UI (not just the app) and more data in the leader board (similar to Clubs) would be on top of our wish list. Thanks!

  • The newest updates will be released later this month, however, I cannot disclose more specific details at this moment.

Hans van Drie can you please elaborate what additional kind of data you would like to be displayed in the leaderboard?

  • Soren Thanks for responding to my post so quickly. Looking forward to the updates later this month. Regarding the Leaderboard, these are some features that would be nice:

    - ability to display the leaderboard in the Web GUI, not just the app
    - leaderboard for longest time, although ranked by time, showing distance as well
    - leaderboard for longest distance, although ranked by distance, showing time as well
    - not just a leaderboard for total duration of the challenge, but also weekly leaderboard, and maybe last weeks' leaders, similar to the club leaderboard. That makes it more fun to watch progress and award people during a group challenge which lasts several weeks

thanks for considering these or similar enhancements.

  • Soren and I also agree with others that a cumulative total would be great, since our charity challenge will be to achieve a total distance or time for the group. The limitation of 25 group members may be an issue, but my understanding from previous posts is that you do not intend to increase that number (yet).

  • Soren  I'm not sure I follow the logic in limiting the challenge participants in order to promote finding connections.  The running club I currently manage has over 200 members, but only 25 of those would be allowed at any one time, which is counter productive considering I often organize meet-ups in support of run challenges.

  • Totally agree with Matt. My work are trying to promote active lifestyles and our department is greater than 25, so we have to create multiple challenges and manually calculate totals etc

  • I agree with Matt and Jamie as well. We used a Strava Club for our charity challenge last year, but it has several limitations that I had hoped would be solved by now, either within Clubs or within the new Groups. The limitation to 25 participants is a potential road block for us, since we are trying to get as many participants as possible and in case we get more than 25 we won't be able to use a Group....

  • I'm trying to create a challenge for some friends, but on my mobile app (android), It won't show my my friends past the letter "E".  It just stops scrolling, and doesn't let me see more than 1/4 of my friends to choose from!
