Actually, turning on "Manual Mode" allows you to drop waypoints wherever you like. Disable it after the ferry ride and you're away!

This would be useful on the west coast of Scotland. Great cycling, but we need to leave Strava to plan routes via the numerous ferry trips.

To be fair, many people won't add their bike, and even if they did, they might then forget to update as they move their computer from bike to bike. But don't get me wrong, Strava are bizzarely laz...

I understand, but I still want the feature. It might "not work" for you, but for me it would. I may drastically reduce my search results, but I would be happy to occasionally search just for road b...

This would be a great feature. As the original questioner suggests, I'd suggest that it's based on the reported bike type.
