Strava Android App Stops Recording

Thread started in march...issue still not fixed apparently. I had a Huawei p8 5.1android and had to put strava in the 'protected apps' list, so they would still work when screen went off. This solved the issue on the P8. Now I have a P9 with android 6.0. Put it in the protected apps list, it's not on energy saving. What's the problem still Strava?
Didn't extend my premium account bc of this. Actually using my fitbit app for tracking my road rides now! THAT one works, so pretty sure it's not a GPS issue, energy settings or permissions problem.

  • Can't believe they haven't fixed this. Obviously don't care about premium customers. C'mon Strava, fix the bug.

  • Same here with Huawei P9 lite version. I can not get this fixed using tricks, either:

-Settings -> Apps and change it to “Run when screen is off”, or in Settings -> Advanced Settings add it to your “Protected Apps” list, or,

-Settings> Advanced Settings> Battery Manager> at the top right of the screen, under the timetable, we will see a symbol with a gear, enters into gear, inside we will find two entries Reminder Close and intense consumer app with heavy energy consumption and 2 and must be of Grey color

-Or I read something about google location (GPS)

    Please some HELP here??

  • Shalu S., does Endomondo work on Huawei P9? I'm not able to record more than an hour with Strava on my P9! Who has the problem? Huawei or Strava? Thanks

  • I'm still having issues regardless of what i try. Sometimes it will go for hours, and other times it will stop after an hour.
I think it's Marshmellow, certain brands (Huawei unfortunately), and strava. I haven't seen Samsung users for example complain... there are more threads on this topic.

I'm using Endomondo now, which gives me a verbal update every kilometer. And when ot's silent I know it's crashed. Endomondo syncs with Strava thx to tapariik.com. Sucks, it's a roundabout way. I'm guessing it's not all Strava's fault. I'm getting a GPS bike nav like Garmin or something. Don't see this shit getting fixed. It's been an ongoing problem since beginning of 2016.

  • Thanks you all for your answers.. I usually follow my route with an application called Oruxmaps, and I record it too in another small mobile used as a gps, and after that I sync with tapiriik.

I've just bought a Garmin today, so bye bye Strava!! Another Premium user less.

  • Hello, I have a Huawei P9 lite and have experienced the same issues with Strava and Endomondo. I have tried all kind of solutions (power manager, app manager, erase chaché and data...) None of that worked for me.

I think I have solved the problem with the help of ES File Explorer (a free app you can find on playstore). Install ES File explorer and open it. Select APP->System apps-> search for Phone manager app (the icon is a shield). Select it. On the bottom left corner you can see "Lock App" click on it (the first time you'll be prompted to download ES App Locker). And that´s it!

Once the Phone manager app is locked, Strava works perfectly (at least today for me).

I hope it will work for you all as well.

    Regards.

    Javier
