Enter Elevation data for a Manual Activity entry

I run on the treadmill and I typically run on an incline. I like to record my ascent for week, it wold be nice to add the miles on the treadmill to the total.

  • Hi Strava, what does "half done" mean anyway? Seems like it would be a pretty simple piece of code to add. The same man/woman that developed the ability to add 'Distance' and 'Duration' under "Add Manual Entry" activity conceivably should be able to add 'Elevation' in about 5 minutes.

Thanks for the efforts thus far.

  • Totally agree with Andy, this should have been added from the beginning and the cost of implementation is minimal. Please, add this little feature, will make many people happy.

  • @Elle Anderson,

As a coder myself I can say that If your developers are not able to add such a simple code change, something is wrong with your DEV team. Considering all the features they've built, I doubt this is the case.

Then, WHY this is not being implemented. I'm a premium member are seriously considering dropping to regular member if Strava doesn't have the decency to reply to it's premium members. 2 months ago, it's was HALF completed....wow! This change + testing in development should have been completed long long ago.

Please get back to your community as this type of customer service for paying members is unacceptable.

I need an ETA on deployment asap. I know you have to jungle with priorities but this one should be an easy one to cross off your "to-do" list and will make a lot of people happy.

    Thanks

    Sebastien

  • @Sebastien G

You reiterated mine, and many other users comments almost verbatim from previous posts!

@Elle Anderson can Strava be forthcoming on when this will be implemented or what more needs to be done from the user community for this minor modification? (as this is seemingly not an increase in capability of your platform)

We all look forward to the implementation in the near future :D

  • To much difference between garmin 25 and strava. For barometer based height 830m, garmin connect 790, strava 530 :(((((

  • Thanks for adding this feature. Do you plan to make it available also for past activities? I'd like to update past activities as well with manual elevation. Currently it seems to be available only for new activities,

  • Ummm thanks much BUT....

...we NEED to be able to edit existing activities with this data... I don't want to redo 8 years worth of entries competely.

...we NEED to be able to add this data to activities that also have non-manual data... for instance you have a non-GPS device that tracked distance/speed with sensors and also heart rate, but not elevation.  We want all of that data, not just to have to choose between them.

As far as I can tell you can't edit existing activities, and if you add from a file that has other data you can't add elevation.

  • Thank you for adding manual elevation data entry for new manual entries as of 10/26/2016.

HOWEVER, users also need the ability to add elevation to activities based on data files that do not have elevation data.  For instance, you have non-GPS watch that records speed, distance, cadence, heart rate... you know the estimated elevation of your route so you want to be able to add that to the activity.

Also we would like to be able to edit existing activities and not just have the chance to add the data when it is first being added.  I have years worth of data that I don't want to redo (and currently can't redo or I'll lose my measured speed/distance/cadence/HR data).

  • sometimes the Garmin does not save the ride (batterie, software crash and so on) but you know the time, distance and watts (elevation) roughly. Would be great to add this if you need to create an manual entry. It should than also be considered for fitness&freshness if possible.

  • Often ride with pals that have barometric pressure, I however do nor (Garmin 25). My altitude readings are always 30-50 % lower. Please add a manual entry for altitude

  • It appears this is partially done (thank you!), but if I go to an existing activity and click edit, there is no way to change the elevation gain. I have created several manual entries in the past (when my Garmin failed to upload) and I put in the title the elevation gain that I had. My hope was that once this feature was released, I could go back and edit those to put in the proper elevation gain. However, that does not appear to be the case.

I raised a new ticket. Please go and upvote if you agree. https://support.strava.com/hc/en-us/community/posts/205417710-Modify-elevation-data-when-editing-an-existing-activity

  • I'd like to see this feature available for manual runs entered via the iOS app. It seems to only be available through the website.
