Display distances to two decimal places

Strava - please display distance measurements to 0.01 of a km/mile, instead of the current limitation of one tenth.

The existing granularity of just one tenth of a mile makes it very difficult to meaningfully compare activities, especially for runners where it takes some time to cover that distance.  I'm sure cyclists would also appreciate the change.

This limitation has been identified in a number of threads as the reason people use other apps so should be of concern to Strava.

  • Best way to let Strava know how you feel is to ditch their app altogether. I did and started using Runkeeper. I like it a lot. Way better than Strava, who obviously could care less about their user base and the usability of their app!

  • I’ve ditched Strava too and gone back to MapMyRun. Loving those 2 decimal places!

  • Strava, as a newer user and after a couple months of finding this behavior of not showing to the .01 while I run, I took the time to google this. Wow...this post dated pack 4 years.

It is completely mindnumbing that you ignore passionate enthusiasts and athletes who are using your product for nearly half a decade...and the thing is Strava ALREADY REPORTS TO THE HUNDRETH, just not on the display as we run. I’ve started using Strava concurrently with MMR and recently started using Runtastic...and realize how awesome and less aggravating they are. For all the good Strava does, if this display issue doesn’t change soon, I’m ditching it forever, let alone even considering premium.

  • I use the Strava app on my iPhone when I walk every day. It would be very useful to have the distance shown in two decimal places (hundredths). Today when I walked it said 2.9 miles when I got back to my car. I really wanted to do 3 miles but without that extra digit I didn’t know how close I was. Later when I checked on the website it said 2.97 — if I knew that then I would have walked a little further to reach my 3 mile goal. Thank you. Hope we see two decimal points on the app soon!!

  • For the love of all that is holy, you provide and incredible service and your entire platform is amazing........ BUT you don't have 2 decimal places on your app for AppleWatch that tons of people use to track their runs. It is such an incredible oversight that I keep thinking I'm doing something wrong or I've missed a preference somewhere. Nike has this on their app and they suck, come on Strava, you guys are the best, and this is all that is holding you back from being darn near perfect.

  • I think it took them 5 years to add the second decimal on their website, then another year to add it to their phone apps. Just be patient and I’m sure in another year or two they’ll find time to add it to their watch apps as well.

  • I thought I had seen recently that you changed the decimal showing to the hundreth.  Eager to FINALLY get this, SO HAPPY that Strava listened to us (going back to 2015 on this thread!), I updated my iPhone and...alas...still just to the tenth.

What is the matter?  Is your GPS software so inferior that it's not accurate to the hundreth?  Did you hire programmers who failed math?  Have you been aquired by Adidas and this is just a cynical ploy to get us all to switch to Runtastic? Did your R&D department forget their login password?  I agree with Derek above: FOR THE LOVE OF ALL THAT IS HOLY....THIS IS HOLDING YOU (and your loyal fitness enthusiasts) BACK!!!

  • Mine shows hundredths on iPhone XS Max. Maybe they only found time to add the extra digit on iOS or on larger screen sizes (because a single digit takes up so much space).

  • I have given up waiting for Strava to update to two decimal places so I am going to try Runkeeper which does offer two decimal places in distance.

  • Thank you Strava! I now get 2 decimal places on my app, hurray! Saves me running just a bit past my house and back to get the distance up to the next 10th! A great change, thank you!

  • Hey everyone. With the latest app update, and the website, Strava now shows two decimal places (hundredths place). Let's call this a win! I've attached a screenshot.

My only additional complaint is that when you "View Workout" the *Laps* are still shown to 0.1. I would definitely want to laps to 0.01 as well.

  • False dawn for me. I can see the 2 decimal places on my app  in my history & when I have saved my current activity.

But while I'm active I still only see 1 decimal place, using a sony xperia phone. Anyone see the 2 places  when they are active??

  • I’m with Kevin. Only 1 decimal point during use. I’ve upgraded to the latest. THAT is where I want to see it. As for size of phone: I’m using iPhone 8 Plus. Plenty of real estate, but they ought be easily able to scale to smaller phones.

  • Note at beginning of thread says they’ve fixed this and “completed” this request...over a year ago. And here we are still posting...

  • Sorry, but the issue has NOT been resolved.   I downloaded the latest Strava app update just yesterday (April 4, 2019) and it’s still only one decimal place in the app!!!!

  • I agree that distance should be reported to 0.01 miles on the Apple Watch.  Also, it would be great if the font for distance and heart rate were a little larger so that they're easier to see while running.  The font for the pace could be shrunk a bit to make more room.

  • This is so annoying. I love Strava but this is my only gripe. Is this just an Apple Watch thing? Or do other people use Garmins etc with the same problem?
