Strava used to be great, totally sucking these days...who has found something better out there? What other APP can I change to?

GPS date issue has been a pain in the butt....if only Strava would let us manually edit the date, this problem would go away, but they've said no to doing that.

Now I'm having syncing issues.  It didn't sync, even though it seem to be recording just fine and I finished and hit finish and save.

No help on the Strava page at all.  Completely useless interface with useless suggestions that don't relate at all.

  • I just signed up for Strava to see what all the fuss was about. Signed up for the 30-day free summit trial too. Needless to say, I'm going to be canceling that. I'll keep my account and whatnot, the web-based version is pretty and all, but I won't be recording rides or paying money for anything.

I use Map My Ride. I've had the app for years. It has lagged behind a little now that Under Armour owns it, but it does what it's supposed to. I connect Bluetooth sensors to it as well - something Strava has dropped - so dumb. I give a thumbs up to Map My Ride, it's not the prettiest, and it's now geared a little more towards runners, but it functions.

  • I just finished a ride. It was keeping track all the way. Been building up to this and was going for it, to beat my fastest time. Maximum effort. I finished, hit stop, finish, save. Put bike away then sat down to enjoy my results.
Nothing. All gone. No record of any ride at all.
Did a little test walking around. All good, and saving perfectly. This sucks.

  • Strava is nice for the social aspect. For logging and analysing your workouts, there are other apps just as good or better (for instance, for hiking statistics).

  • I've used Strava for 2 years and recorded about 400 activities.  I only ever had one instance of an activity not recording properly - the recording stopped after 10 seconds of a long ride.  This was very frustrating !  After some diagnosis it turned out the problem was an automatic update of the phone software which left the "battery saver" mode too severe, thus stopping the recording soon after the start.  Not the fault of the Strava app and instead the fault of the people at Samsung !

  • David - What device are you using to record your ride?  If it is something other than your phone, the file likely still exists in the device.  If it was your phone, you are probably out of luck unfortunately.  Personally, I don't like using the phone to record activities.  Too many other things can happen with a phone to corrupt the recording that really isn't the fault of the app itself.

  • I've had the same problem, but just a few times. When syncing your activity doesn't work properly, it doesn't show up, right? I don't know what's causing this problem, but I hope this answer/solution can be useful for you or anyone else reading this. It's possible that you've tried this already.

What I did was just pressing the record button again as if I want to start the activity. For some reason the activity is still there and it's recording again. I pressed stop and save to hopefully save the activity for real this time and that worked for me.

  • Now they no longer let you compare your times to people your following. That's half the fun and motivation of the app. I will be canceling them

  • Strava  have proven to be completely useless in support.  The responses are automated and not relevant to problems - they take the money and give nothing back

  • It's terrible. I have put it up against my signa bike computer and Samsung Health, and I think maybe 2 times it was close to the other platforms. Strava always adds distance, cuts my mph by .5 every time, and lways calculates my cal burn at half of what it really is. With the same phone I use Samsung Health and the readings are very close to the bike computer. Whats funny is that if I export the Samsubg Health data to Strava.... Strava takes it and recalculates it to its own bad, subpar data. Crap. Definitely not paying for the subscription

  • I hate the new updates that srava made to the Free Accounts... Why can't I see my spot in the leaderboards? They have removed Strava from being Strava... I am 17 and won't be able to pay the subscription... This sucks... honestly!

  • The downgraded free account now sucks bad. They are not happy only with ALL your data, now they need money too....C’mon Garmin! Stop being greedy! I guess it is time for somebody to open a competing service....

  • Just want to vent a bit but strava has been glitching like crazy for me lately.  I took a trip to Montana this month, stopped in Dickinson and rode around town and it glitched all over the place giving me ridiculous stats.  I figured small town deal, no biggie.  Then I get to Montana into the mountains and the auto-pause kept stopping and going while I was riding and it glitched and gave me terrible results again.  It did the same thing on other rides too.  Then on way back I stop in Medora and bike Maah Daah Hey and the autopause was glitching over and over again and then on the TRNP loop I rode 25 miles to end of washed out road and checked results and it didn't record 21 of the 25 miles up so I reset and prayed it would track my route down and I think it did because I turned autopause off.  Then I get back to Minneapolis and it's good for a few rides but then spazzed out again.   then tonight I rode in small town Minnesota and it glitched again.  So sick of paying for it and getting these terrible results.  It used to be great before I started paying for it.  So disappointed, going to shop around.
