  • Specific examples and details that illustrate the problem/confusion you are experiencing. For example: When I do ___, then ___ happens and that is not ok because ___.
  • Screenshots that help visually illustrate the problem. For example: Here is a picture illustrating my point ___ from above. See how ___ is doing ___?
  • An explanation of why this is important. For example: This is important to me because ___.
  • If you propose a solution, an explanation of how that solution would help you and why that is important. For example: I think a ___ would be great because then I could see ___. This is important to me because I have to ___.

If someone has already suggested the same idea as you, you can help us quantify the demand for the feature or improvement by upvoting the original comment. To upvote, click the up arrow on the right-hand side of the comment.

I want the ability to filter the types of activities I see in my feed from the people I follow.

It will allow me to remove activities such as weight training, treadmill, elliptical and similar activities that I do not care about seeing.

The reason that is important is because I do not participate in any of these activities and they just clutter up the feed of the activities I do care about.

An example of when I needed that was every day.  I'm only interested in mountain biking and to a lessor degree, running.  I really don't care to see that someone did a "Morning Activity" or "Trainer" or "Offroad Dirtbike Ride".

  • As a mountain biker I want to be able to tag rides as using a shuttle or uplift so that uphills are not counted when using a vehicle to drive up or a chairlift.

This is important because rides using an uplift service are being flagged and there is no method within strava to remove the uphill segments of a ride that used an uplift. It would also stop uphill segment KOMs from being taken be riders using an uplift service.

At its most basic any uphill on a tagged ride would be nulled or simply excluded from participating in segments. Perhaps a reasonable threshold for uphills could be set so that any uphill travelled by the rider over a certain amount of vertical meters would be annulled.

  • I am getting older, no more PR's for me. A great addition for us older folks, or in training would be to see our monthly PR's for different distances. Example, I run 15, 10k distances during the month of January. At the end of January my best 10k time during the month shows up. I am sure with all the info and algorithms you have it would be a very easy thing to introduce for us paid subscribers. And not just a 10k, but best efforts for whatever distances the user uses.

This would be much better for the user experience than having to scroll back thru each run and calculate how we did for each distance.

  • New Activity Type Request - Canicross.

I've recently started running with my dog and hoping to get involved in Canicross. Canicross is the sport of cross country running with dogs, whilst being harnessed and attached together by a bungee lead.

I've only been on 1 run so far with the dog and have already smashed a load of PBs thanks to being pulled along! Is it possible to create a new activity type for this as it would be great to distinguish between Canicross and when I'm just running by myself.

  • Suggest to add dark mode. This would allow battery savings on devices with OLED screens, and well "dark mode" offerings are the norm. Looking at bright-white Strava in the evening is rather annoying.

  • Less important but on your running distance personal bests is there a way to see more than just your overall top time? On a specific run it will show 1st, 2nd or 3rd but I can never see it again.  Also, the distances for personal bests seem to be set but don't display for all distances it records, it would be nice to see all the distances that are recorded.  Finally, would be nice to see the personal bests over a given time period. As I get older I can't compete with my younger self but would like to compete with myself over the past year or several years.  Also, I was involved in an incident that took significant damage, surgeries and recovery time to my legs, I have no ability to match my pre-incident times but would like to see how I'm doing post-incident, being able to search these personal bests over a specific timeframe would help me to know I'm improving and give me something to work towards rather than chasing a former, younger version of myself I can't match.

  • For the Route Builder, I want a feature that would allow you to create "landmarks" on your user base map. These landmarks are different from segments, as they're a point and non-linear. They would exist as a layer you could toggle on and off, and edit overtime. This feature would allow users to easily create routes that connects these landmarks -- breweries, cafes, scenic vistas, parks, interesting buildings/properties, etc. This would particularly useful for the Cycling community. The landmarks would exist on a user's base map - similar to the "starred" function in Google Maps. The landmarks would be Private by default, but users could make them Public and/or share with other Strava Followers.

This would be a valuable feature as many users, such as myself, already build routes that connect landmarks - but this feature would make it easier, rather than having to remember and/or manually search for the landmark. The landmarks would just exist when you open up Route Builder.

For instance, this feature would have been helpful when I was developing a bike ride for friends connecting different breweries - or when I developed a bike ride for my club that connected  several interesting scenic vista points, resupply point, and a cafe for a mid-ride bite. This would enhance the social and community aspect of Strava.

  • Strava is extremely competitive when it comes to local riding groups.

When ever we finish a ride, we always share screenshots of the leaderboard for a particular segments that we may have done well on.

This creates hype and competitiveness in the community.

Below you will see a screenshot for a leaderboard but it doesn't tell you which segment it's from

It would be cool to have it included somewhere something like this:

  • Hi,

I want to be able to track my horseback riding activities. The reason that is important is because of Endomondo is stopping per 31 of December. There are no other good tracking apps for horseback riding. Could you make this a option for tracking?

    Kind regards.

  • More realistic bike types

The list of bike types is currently Road Bike, Mountain Bike, TT Bike, and Cross Bike. This list seems antiquated and needlessly sports-centred. There are plenty of other types of bike that could be added: gravel/adventure bike, hybrid bike, cargo bike (long john), cargo bike (long tail), tandem, folding bike, utility bike, touring bike, trike, BMX...

  • Labels for routes to be able to filter.

When opening the routes page I would like to be able to create labels to sort the routes. I want to be able to create labels for MTB, Gravel and Road for instance, but also for areas where I go biking. The next obvious step would be to filter the routes by label so that I don't have to sort throught tens of routes to find the right one.

  • TL;DR: Omit chairlift/shuttle rides from downhill ski/snowboard/mountain bike

The Slopes app does a great job of removing chairlift rides from days out on the ski hill, but when they get imported into Strava, it looks like distance covered in your workout.

It's nitpicky, but it would be great to not get those "cheater miles" in our workouts. :)

  • Please will you increase the age categories to >80 years old. There is an increasing number of active octogenarian athletes, and this age category has already been embraced  by, for example, Zwift and Park Run. At this age, a five year age gap is very significant,  and this would allow us to continue competing on an equal footing.

  • Redefine explore segments for casual runners/cyclists

As a new Strava user and a (very casual) runner, the effort comparison highlighted in the landing page of each segment is redundant me. These are often professional runners and it would be delusional to think I can ever get anywhere close to their marks.

I would find it a lot more useful if we were given the option to:

    - Find/meet people around you with similar marks
    - Have a percentile distribution of marks (i.e. Your segment run was top 50% in the X/Y age range). Perhaps, even, goal suggestions based on this data.

Likewise, the club's leaderboard for very large open groups. To me, only for small clubs where everyone knows each other a leaderboard sounds fun.

  • I have just converted my 8-year endurance horse riding history from Endomondo. Mostly Strava is very comparable but I have found it irritating that it does not offer horse riding as a sport. I have to select "ride" and pretend that my horses are mountain bikes. Please would you add horse riding as a sport and make it possible to bulk convert from "ride" to "horse ride".

  • How about default equipment for activity type? Like Bike1 for virtual ride, Bike2 for a road ride and Bike3 for a mountain bike ride.

  • Hazardous Virtual Segments?

Can we remove the ability for users to flag VIRTUAL ride segments (e.g. those for Zwift, Bkool, RGT, etc.) as hazardous? By their very definition they can't be hazardous - there's no traffic, no pedestrians, no stop signs - but still people are flagging segments they just "don't like" as hazardous, which then removes them from everyone's rides, not just their own (they should be hiding them if they don't like them).

  • Folders for routes!
I do have a club, with club-ride routes, I do also have commute-routes, training-routes etc.
The route section on Strava as of today is just messy.

  • Filter Feed by activity type PLEASE

I want to deselect swift, walking, yoga blah blah non activities from my feed.

The more you add other activities the more the need for people to deselect them from their feed. You will need this feature at some point, please make it now.

  • One thing i think would be handy is a pacer in Strava. Set before you go that you want to do a 10k run in 45 mins, then each km strava notifies you if you 20secs off the pace or ahead etc. Could even add little motivational quotes if your slowing. I know it already gives you updates on your previous km etc ao it could just be a slight tweak. I really think it could help folk challenge their pb’s !

    • It would be great to add what type of bike is one riding (gravel, road, mountain, etc.) and then filter by this type on heatmaps and route planning.

    • This could be very useful when checking some routes and route planning. Currently, you can only select paved/dirt roads, which is a lot of time not specified, and also it is not enough.

    • You have heatmaps, you have the data, just adding a type of bike could make a GREAT difference on route planning (Sometimes I want to go only on a road bike, so I select heatmaps where road bikes ride. Sometimes I want to go gravel, so I select gravel + road - but exclude mountain bikes [as they might use routes that are not ridable on gravel bikes]. Or just somebody I follow rides and interesting route, but I want to be sure that it is ridable on my type of bike)

  • Hi,

A great feature would be to track the vertical meters for your skins in the activity Backcountry Ski (SkiMo), almost similar to the running activity, where you can see the kilometers on your shoes.

This feature would be great, so you can see after how much vertical meters your skins lose grip, it would help a lot.

Guess Backcountry Ski or Ski Mountaineering is really booming right now.

    THANKS

    greetings from Austria

  • Greetings.

    On the website.
Under Settings --> My Gear --> My Bikes --> Components - Add Component...
There is a drop down list with many common components.

Would it be possible to add a component called MISCELLANEOUS, to track odd components like replaced spokes, or any miscellaneous component the user wishes to track the date and mileage?

    Please consider adding.
    Thank you

  • I want ebike live segments. It will allow me to compare performance mostly in MTB singletracks and descents The reason that is important is because of many ebikers dont set ebike ride just to have normal live segments and that cause frustration among muscolar cyclist being stolen their KOM by ebikers. Please just add Live Segments to Ebike acticity and soon more ebike segments will be created and ebike user will have their own category to stick to. Thanks

    - Access from a mobile application
    - Temporary removal of a part
    - Measurement of the resource at the time of replacement / removal
    - Fast switching of some things: wheels, tires, pedals
    - Turn on notifications when passing a certain mark
    - Recommendations from Strava for care when passing resource marks
    - Entering a resource when adding a part, for example, if it is not a new part
    - Transfer of parts between users, for example, if you rent a bike or sell a spare part
    - Option for self-assembly wheels. Separately hub, spokes, rims.
    - Search for popular brands from the list. Replenishment of the list of positions. Part characteristics.
    - Integration with MyCampy

    - Statistics resource details among users

  • Rucking

It would be nice to see a ruck type added with a pack weight variable... I have been doing a lot of rucking lately, under hiking and trail running. But with the extra 30-40 lbs, I am moving much slower. So of course, Strava is logging it at a much lower training level causing all the stats to be much lower. Worthless for everything but distance and heart rate.

  • This was on the old forum, but I will add it here too. Please have the "Cycling" heatmaps include e-bike rides! Most of my 8000 miles this year are on e-bike. I have manually converted each activity to a "Ride" then update my all-time heatmap, then re-convert activity back to e-bike so it won't affect leaderboards for conventional cyclists. Other sites like StatsHunters and Wandrer count e-bike rides with cycling. Even the new Strava "Personal Heatmap" feature in the "Routes" area includes e-bike rides, so why not include it in the main heatmap area?
