How to format your new idea and/or feedback:

Feedback that is actionable and constructive is most effective. When sharing, please consider the following when framing your thoughts:

  • If you have a new idea, it's helpful for us to understand why that feature is important for you and the value it will bring. For example: I want __. It will allow me to do ___. The reason that is important is because of ___. An example of when I needed that was ___.
  • Specific examples and details that illustrate the problem/confusion you are experiencing. For example: When I do ___, then ___ happens and that is not ok because ___.
  • Screenshots that help visually illustrate the problem. For example: Here is a picture illustrating my point ___ from above. See how ___ is doing ___?
  • An explanation of why this is important. For example: This is important to me because ___.
  • If you propose a solution, an explanation of how that solution would help you and why that is important. For example: I think a ___ would be great because then I could see ___. This is important to me because I have to ___.

If someone has already suggested the same idea as you, you can help us quantify the demand for the feature or improvement by upvoting the original comment. To upvote, click the up arrow on the right-hand side of the comment.

  • Private Notes on a Public Activity:

I would love to have a "Private Notes" field available on activities that are otherwise public. This would be just one field that allows users to enter notes viewable only to themselves when looking back on activities that they don't care to have others see on otherwise public activities. This would allow me to enter private notes for things such as such as my nutrition intake on a long ride...or notes about aches/pains...or even journal types of notes about other experiences during the activity that I don't want public..."saw a blue heron perched on the post at Ol' Mac's farm...reminded me of Dad...miss you, Dad."

Following is a screenshot example of what I'm picturing that I came across while searching for any information about such a feature (credit to "DanDawson" from a different forum altogether).

  • Hello,

I think a nice added feature for running would be to add year Achievements for the specific year we are in. For example best 5k (10k, half) time for 2021. Some of us are past our prime so it would be nice seeing after a good run that I had my fastest time for a 5k for the year.

  • I want an option to tag an activity as "Warm up/Cool down". This would then not count the activity in my "number of runs" but still include the distance and time in my overall stats.

E.g. If I do a race, with a warm up and a cool down, that currently gets classed as three runs but I only see it as one.

Over the course of a week/month/year I like to calculate the average distance of a run but this number is skewed by shorter warm ups/cool downs.

  • Can Strava break out biking options on the app? I would suggest matching the various types of biking that people do. E.g., road, MTB, and gravel as a start. The app does this already with different types of skiing. Users would be excited to see more biking types as options.

  • When will you add new sports in the list? Now we can only choose Ride, but there is a big difference between Cycling and Mountainbike. So you can choose between Walk or Hike; Alpine ski, Nordic ski or snowboard. With Garmin you have a lot more choice, maybe to much.
I'm a mountainbiker, so it would be nice I could select Mountainbike instead Cycling when I go off-road.

  • MTB and chairlift/vehicle uplifts! Come on Strava, sorting out how to record/interpret imported data for this so that the obvious portions made in a vehicle should be possible by now. Even only having a 'Ride' option that could be a road or mountain bike is quite frankly pathetic in this day and age.

  • I am requesting an upgrade to Segment Explore that can answer many of the other requests on the Explore feature. When going into Explore if I could click on a segment result and hide it from my results, similar to hiding segment results from your activities it would be great.  I still want to be able to see these segment in my activity results but not when searching for a new ride/run. I like to go on new routes and use explorer to plan rides/runs.  If I could hide segments that I know well or I'm not interested it would allow me to see the less utilized segments.  I could zoom out and look for longer segments only.  It would give me control to really dive into finding the segments I want (length, hilly, rare, etc...) without a lot of special features being added to Strava.

  • Hello, would you please consider adding "Wing Foil" to your supported "Activity" types? You already have "Windsurf" and "Kitesurf", which I really appreciate, but now there's another wind+water sport gaining popularity. There are a lot of folks who "wing foil" in addition to "windsurf" and/or "kitesurf", and there's need to be able to distinguish them, since they really are different sport. Being able to distinguish them will better serve people trying to judge the wind condition from the activity feeds from windsurfers/kiteboarders/wingfoilers, because wingfoilers tend to move slower than windsurfers/kiteboarders and if they just look at the average/max speed of wingfoilers thinking they are windsurfers, then the condition may seem worse than it actually was. I hope this makes sense. Thank you.

  • I would love to see Strava put effort into building a full-featured cyclo-computer display on the mobile app.  My phone has a MUCH larger screen than my Garmin or my wife's Hammerhead.  I think about some of the data that I can display on those devices--like grade, altitude, heartrate, zone, average speed, max speed.  As I get older, I find myself preferring my phone as a computer--because I can read it without prescription glasses.

I would LOVE to see Strava put more effort into the realtime display during a ride on mobile.  I am not the only person getting older, and not the only person with an enormous phone screen.  I bet there are ways you could make that computer more fully featured than a lot of the aftermarket computers--while also being easier to read and one less device to carry.

  • One of the metrics I would love to see in Strava is Pw:Hr or also known as The ratio of Power and Heart Rate as a measure of decoupling. This gives you information about your performance, but also on how good your aërobe capacity is building up. It used to be available in TP basic by accident and they removed it recently, but I think it would be a great addition to the metrics in Strava too.

  • I would like to find segments for swimming to compete and challenge with other swimmers and to monitor personal improvement of achievements.

For running and cycling it is very easy to find segments nearby. For swimming this option is not (yet) available although a lot of swimmers use STRAVA and have already created segments. The only way to find them now, is the notice in the activity áfter the swim you recorded…

  • Hello,
In our area we have many Strava users with e-bikes.
I think that they don't know that they are not working properly when they save their rides as normal bike rides.
For some MTB uphill rides we found these users in the top 10.
    That's not really fair.
I asked some of them and they didn't know the difference.
If we want to change the ride to an e-bike ride, that's the last option in the list, so no one saw that.
My idea is when someone saves a ride with good segments, ask in a popup window what type of bike he/she used. (MTB, road bike, e-bikes, etc).
I think this would be a good way to filter out some of the wrong users

  • I would love to see Strava add a comments/dialogue section to each segment page. This would allow users to discuss road conditions, safety, water stops, road closures and other key items about the segment. Would make it interactive to be able to see and plan for a segment before you go tackle it.

  • Could you please create a post or topic for "Sport Types". The purpose for this will be for feedback and features for a specific sport type. It will also be the place to suggest new sport types not yet supported on Strava.

  • I'd like to be able to publish on Strava the workout that I create with Garmin Connect, so they have the title of the workout instead of the general title that Strava gives to the activity like "Evening run" or "Afternoon activity".

If I do a workout called "Deadlifts Week 3 Day 1", I would like this title to be published on Strava, not "Afternoon activity".

  • I'd like a way to move components from one bike to another in the Gear section.

Specifically, I have a pair of power meter pedals as a component on one bike, and I’d like to transfer them to a different bike, as a component under that bike, and keep the distance the pedals have done as a total between the two bikes, so that I know when the pedals would need maintenance.

  • It would be great to be able to organise all my routes - so for example to alphabetise them so I can find a route quickly without have to trawl through them all. Or perhaps be able to put them in folders.

    Thanks

  • Live Segments: choose with whom to compare.

I just started to use live segments and I find it interesting, but a work in process. Here is my issue: I am 60 years old and when a live segment comes up where I am being compared to the KOM who is a 20 / 30 something-year-old chap this is absolutely useless, for me. Actually, it is more depressing than anything else. Also comparing to my PR will be soon useless too, I am still holding up but it won't last many years.

The bottom line is I would like to be able to choose with whom to compare: I would love to be able to compare to my last ride on that same segment or to my PR  over the last couple of years or so.

Generally speaking, you might have to think about people getting older and perhaps find a way to split PRs on running period, say the last x years, rather than from the beginning. My first recorded workouts are from 10 years ago, it is not that much when you're young and improving but it starts to get complicated when getting older and your physical ability is deteriorating.

  • Turning off certain activity types (Similar to Simon P) to IMPROVE CUSTOMER EXPERIENCE

Many of my friends and I would like to be able to TURN OFF the activities that we are not interested in seeing (or SELECT THOSE THAT WE WANT TO SEE), BUT we still want to follow and support our friends is cycling adventures!

For example, with smart watches becoming popular, many people are now recording walks in the park, yoga, gym etc - which may be automatic or just opportunitistic, or they are the type of person to want to record 'everything'. These activities are of no interest to me, like my zwift activities are probably of no interest to others. I'd therefore like to be able to select the sports that I am interested in, like cycling, running, swimming and hiking. This would make my customer experience more pleasing.

I am a subscriber to Strava, and have been for a long time, but am extremely frustrated by the seemingly endless number of these activities which are in my feed.

  • I know this doesn't fit in Strava, but motor riders are unfortunately using Strava as well to record/document their rides. They are using the 'ride' activity and this is messing up the leadership boards. Is it an option to add moto ride as a separate activity (only show them some basic data e.g. map, total kms, total elevation) or else build some algorithm that can identify unusual speed. Especially on ascents you will see that moto bikes go faster than humanly possible on a bike. Also the average speed of the entire ride is most of the time much higher than possible on a bicycle. There are plenty of indicators that can be used to identify them and ban their segment results from the leadership boards. Thanks

  • Segments times more reliable

Recently, I don't even care about the best times for a segment or KOM's.

It is becoming very common to have GPS bugs or erratic activities registering a KOM or Best of the day for a segment.

There are segments with 18 s/km pace for a running !!! Other ones, the activity is clearly a Cycling but the person selected Run and the app do nothing to avoid those situations.

I would suggest to the app automatically filter those things like GPS bugs that make possible a 18 s/km run, or to detect an "abnormal speed" for a run/walk and confirm with the user if the Run is really a Run before register his/her time into segment ranking. Register the activity, but not at the segment rank until the confirmation if the activity is a Run/Walk or a Cycling instead.

  • Redline a road

I want be able to redline a section of road that has a bad surface ie:  pot holes, high traffic, under construction etc. It will allow me to look at my mapped routes quickly and figure out if I need to change it up for a safer ride. The reason that is important is because I have some routes that are up to 120 miles and if I can label a road then I can quickly and easily see that it needs to be tweaked in order to improve rider safety and enjoyment.

  • I would also like to be able to create an ebike segment out of a regular bike segment, with the exact location, distance and elevation. There are too little ebike segments and it would make it much easier to support the growing ebike community.

  • If an ebike segment and a bike segment are identical, it would be interesting to see the comparison of those times in a personal view (this should only be a personal view for my own reference, not something that is visible to everyone because it may ruin the experience for some bikers)

  • Dave Logie - You can crop out the portion of the activity that was in a vehicle or otherwise needs to be removed.  In the mobile app, just open the activity, then click on the three dots in the upper right corner and select "crop".

  • To assign different default gear to recording devices

For example, I using my Suunto to record a MTB rides, whereas mobile for Road bike. I would be nice if I could set these different default device to type of the device that was used for recording.

    Thanks!

  • As a runner who follows a Low Heart Rate training schedule, I would like to replace the "Relative Effort" data column on the Activities and Matched runs screens with "Average Heart Rate". This would greatly improve my ability to evaluate fitness progress.

Enable user selection of data columns displayed on the Activities screen.

Enable sorting the listed Activities by clicking on a given column header.

Enable exporting of listed Activities in simple ASCII delimited format.

  • Automatic recording of laps

I am missing the possibility to get an activity divided into laps. For running I get automatic splits in km, but I would like to have a laps split as well for the relevant activities like running, nordic ski, ice skating. Some of the functionality seems to be there as I was doing outdoor ice skating and there were segments like fastest lap, time over 10 laps etc.

  • Personal heatmaps while planning route are perfect feature. In combination of public heatmap I save a lot of time. But I still miss one imporatant feature that whould allow me to plan routes 100% in strava and not use Komoot to replan route.

I'm taking about the feature, that would allow to put pointer anywhere on the map. Not it sticks to closest know path but a lot of the are not present on the map.

Please add an option to not "Follow ways" know from Komoot.
