Leaderboard Change Notification when Friend beats you

Strava has changed the way I run and ride.  I love it.  Very little incites the same level of emotional response from me than a notification informing me that I have lost a CR, or a KOM.  I'm getting older and slower though, and I'm seeing fewer of these notifications.  What I would like, is to be notified when someone that I follow bumps me in any leaderboard regardless of position.  It's those little competitive aspects of the leaderboard that help me create and embrace new challenges.  I would love to know when a friend completes a segment faster than I had been able to do it previously.  In turn, it would be great to have the opportunity to return the gesture.  I know you can already see a leaderboard on any segment for just those that you follow, but the notifications are key.  I think it would be a fun feature, but I'd likely be inundated with notifications:-(  Hahaha!

Sounds like this post is related to the discussion Segment notification when your PR is beaten by followers/friends.

  • I just got an email notification for a kom I lost (& was then notified of) back in Jan. Somethings messed up with their notification emails, so will turning it off.

  • Your idea is actually great and I'd love to see it implemented. I think we all have a bunch of competitive friends that we follow and bump in the leaderboards section but never have the chance to 'trigger' in this way, if you know what I mean.

  • I no longer seem to get the "you lost your KOM" notifications, which I miss!

I like the idea of the OP, it is things like this that keep you going.  Sadly the (similar) request to see which segments you have in common with your friends has been made long ago..., but has never been implemented. So I don't hold out much hope.

  • Thanks Elle Anderson.  I did search for a similar post before submitting mine; I don't mean to clog up the forums.  It's sad to see the discussion you referenced is from 2014.  I figured it would be highly unlikely that it would happen.
