  • +1 - Zero traction from the Strava team. I've turned off the sync.

  • +1 - To Jeff Sagal: actually at first I also turned the sync off.. after some time I realised, that I want to keep stats, so I managed to set that all newly imported activities will appear as private and I keep them like this not to spam my feed :)
Strava: come on do something about it finally 👏👏

  • As much as I hate to be a Debbie Downer - if you sort this forum by votes, there are numerous issues with thousands of votes, which are 5-6 years old, which have never been fixed or even responded to.

Hate to say it, but we're never going to see this fixed.  Maybe someone could develop a third party Garmin app that did it?

  • Thia is a bit pants... my friends dont care that i did 20 kettlebell swings. Maybe a third party app would work - a bit like the commute marker app that can set commutes to private....
Or maybe it could be sorted out an garmins end?

  • Same issue with Vivosport, I enjoy using Strava, but I'd only like to sync Bike and Run activities, not Strength or others. I think this really should be something Garmin fixes on their side, but part of the problem seems to be their forum software is bad, I had trouble even getting logged in, and then I'm logged in now but I don't see a way to post on their forum. Here is a similar thread. I'll try emailing them as well. https://forums.garmin.com/forum/into-sports/garmin-connect/127459-?view=thread

  • I agree with a lot of the postings. I want my runs or bicycle rides automatically posted to Strava, but I don't want my walking or hiking posted there. Each activity type should have it's own settings in Garmin connect for syncing with Strava.

  • I think ideally, (and maybe there is a way to do this now), there should be a button for each activity that you do that says "Send to Strava". If I recorded a 100 mile bicycle ride, I want to send that to Strava. If I recorded a separate 5 mile slow warm up before hand, I would like the activity and mileage recorded in Garmin Connect, but I don't need other people to see it on Strava.

  • Pretty sure this sync is triggered from the Garmin side. Too bad they don't have a clear way of submitting feature requests.

  • My vote is that this is needed too. I only want to share some activities from my Forerunner.

  • Please add this filtering functionality Strava. Crazy you don't have it already. Please and thank you :)

  • I have the same problem. I want an option to choose whether or not an activity is pushed to Strava. Other apps allow that but not Garmin Connect. I am not sure what the big deal is for Garmin to add this.

  • Would be great, I only want my outdoor bike workouts in Strava, nothing else.

  • I would love to use the auto activity feature on my Garmin watch but I don't want walks with my wife etc. automatically uploading to Strava. That would be an annoyance to those following me (who might then un-follow me) and the corresponding embarrassment to me that my followers might think I wanted kudos for those. As it is, I need to delete off Strava one or two activities a week that I specifically recorded on my Garmin because they are not cycling or running related (i.e. yoga). So, I am either having to manually delete or manually add activities on Strava given no filter. The Garmin watch is about recording all relevant physiological metrics where Strava (for me at least) is about supporting and analyzing the training activities of myself and followers/teammates.

  • I had a miband 2 and I wanted to link with strava, they never did anything. Now I have the garmin vivoactive and it syncs all activities, even my elliptical... Can you do a filter or checkboxes of what we want to send?

  • Also made a suggestion to Garmin for the same. I remember years ago using my Nokia mobile and Sports Tracker that this feature was there, I don't know why sometimes people don't think out the use case properly satisfying nobody but a product functionality tickbox *sad panda*

  • How about establishing whether an activity type should be private or public by type? All activities types should be included in metrics like fitness and freshness, but we just don't want every activity type public... am I right?

Would love to see this options instead of having to delete my strength workouts...

I would love to build something myself to only sync certain activities from Garmin to Strava, but the Garmin Connect API (which is needed to get the activity data from Garmin in an easy way) has a license fee of $5000. Innovation has a price...

  • +1  with the watches and activity trackers that record all kinds of data (like walks) I don't really want that data in Strava.  Just my rides and runs.  Hopefully your team can make this happen
