Manually add Training Load to activities for Fitness & Freshness graph

It would be very helpful to be able to add manual TSS estimates to rides. I live in a pretty brutal winter climate and don't risk bringing my crank-mounted power meter on some of the more snow-ridden, submerged, occasionally airborne training rides I do in the winter, so when I return from a 5 hour frostbitten epic I don't really have a good assessment of what the effect on my fatigue/fitness would be. It'd be handy to be able to punch in some kind of guess so I can better keep track of my fitness curves. Just a thought.

Thanks!

  • Yes me as well, just completed a 108 mile ride, and my heart rate monitor battery had run out, I knew from my mates power data that my tss would be about 300.  It should be easy enough to add this in, otherwise my fitness/freshness is not correct and defeats the object of having the premium function

  • It's daft people are having to do workaround by editing fit files. Other sites like TodaysPlan allow me to enter the TSS manually. How hard can it be?

  • Agreed, this seems so simple. It makes one of the featured premium features totally useless. I did a ride with my PM Friday and a spin class Saturday where Strava failed me on two levels: can't record indoor ride/HR on mobile app, and then can't manually enter TSS - there goes any somewhat accurate charting.. Love Strava but getting frustrated how many of the features I think are no brainers for premium members have been up here for years and almost all have "not on the list" responses.. What premium features ARE you working on would be my question...

  • +1 would like to add for cross training/rowing when garmin doesn't sync correctly, even if the HR data is captured.

  • Please please add this functionality!!! Make it not worth my time or money to keep using TrainingPeaks

  • How hard is it to add functionality like this? I can manually estimate a TSS from one of my other activities if I forget my heart rate monitor. If I can’t add this in then my fitness and freshness data becomes inaccurate.

This is the main feature which drives me to be premium. What are you doing with our fees? I have just downgraded as so frustrated with the attitude to user’s needs.

  • Should be basic stuff to add this feature and as said previously would make the fitness data more accurate.

  • A simple manual entry for 'suffer score' in activities (&/or the ability to edit it after being calculated) would suffice for the graph to interpret it & not let it become inaccurate, otherwise it is useless. A lot of the time with running the HR monitor doesn't work for some (or all) of the run but we know roughly how hard we're working so could at least have a go at correcting it after. It's our graph so would be up to us to maintain then. Please add this simple feature!

  • Yes, I don't understand, why I cannot see my manual added activities in the fitness overview! For Premium Users this is mandatory (even if it is already requested since 3+ years without Straka taking any action :-(  ).

  • Just canceled my Strava Premium membership (that has been active for 5 years give or take) because obviously, Strava doesn't care about the input of myself and these many, many other customers. A competitor is getting my monthly payment as of now.

  • One should be able to add TSS/TrainingLoad/Power etc for a ride/activity not (able) to record with Strava. Without it no way to keep the Fitness and Freshness card accurate. FTP changes can't be linked to a date as well.  As mentioned above this should be included in the premium feature! Looking into Xert, Golden Cheetah and Trainingpeaks to spent my Strava-premium money after 4,5 years...

  • I have found a small "work-around" (but unfortunately not helpful for all cases mentioned here): I realized that I used in the past my Apple Watch to document my visits to the gym where I usually do 1h riding on a bike. The events are synced automatelly with Apples Health App. Unfortunately I cannot upload events from "Health" to "Strava". So far so good.

Now I found another App called HealthFit which allows me to do exactly that. HealthFit syncs with Health and I can upload my trainings from HealthFit to Strava. The calculated calories seem to be reasonable and the heart rate is transferred very well from the AppleWatch to Health to HealthFit and finally to Strava.

I am aware, that this is very specific. But it helped me to bring my old trainings into Strava and my visits to the gym. I don't know if there is a comparable application like HealthFit on Android which takes inputs from other fitness tracker. But it is perhaps worth looking for it.

  • Seriously sucks.

I quit premium years ago because of this easy function is missing. Instead use Training Peaks which is perfect for planning and evaluate training, especially when doing several types; triathlon, gym, MTB, skiing....

I get notification mails of this support discussion thread and I am shocked that it has still not been fixed.

Love the rest of Strava but no need for premium when the functionality is not there.

  • Just another user amazed this feature hasn't been added yet.

Went on a 40-mile ride but forgot my hr strap, it would be nice to manually edit the training impulse score so even a 50 gets averaged in instead of a 0.

  • I'm bemused by the lack of response from Strava. Strava, any reason for not answering? Thank you.

  • me too.  Anyone found a workaround to add a second "ghost" activity in some other workout app with some basic paramters that could be uploaded alongside the one with the missing TSS info?

  • And one more person that needs this and came here to see that is not implemented after being requested so many years ago :/

  • This is embarrasing, was trying to find any easy way to manually edit an activity (so I could manually add an average HR) and stumbled across this.

4 years plus of this being asked for, and I can't even see one reply from Strava! Pretty poor effort Strava.

  • I'll add my vote to this feature request. You would think it would be a trivial project for a junior dev.

My use case is capturing the effort from a spin class. The spin bike records power, TSS/IF etc but there is no way of exporting to Strava.

  • Premium Member since 2012. Downgraded a few years back switching to Traingin Peaks for better TSS handling. Upgraded today, checked the F & F and downgraded again. Staying with Training Peaks ...

  • Agree with everyone here.

Please add this feature!! Manual TSS seems so obvious and so easy. Zwift stuffed up, I add the ride manually, but no TSS.

  • Hi

Is there an updated status on this?

I would like to enter training load for a manually created activity. I sometimes forget my computer or HR-monitor, but I still have a fairly good estimate as to the training load - and it would certainly be better than the "0" that is the option now.

  • It'd be great to have this feature. Living in the UK, the nights are dark and the weather is atrocious so I've opted to move my road bike inside and now ride it frequently on the indoor trainer. The only problem is that I see my fitness graph has plumetted. I still track my distance, speed, power etc indoors and would love to see how this fairs against my overall fitness / freshness

  • Not going to lie. I'm pissed this isn't a feature. I also subscribe to Sporttracks as their F&F variant is a little different and I like to compare the two. But tonight was the first time I had to enter this data in manually and I couldn't!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is literally worth canceling my subscription over. It's only been 4 years. Get on it or I'm done.

  • Is this being revisited?  I really don't want to buy a polar watch for my swim.  I get TRIMP scores from Golden Chetah from my swim using my Garmin Fenix 3HR and Garmin swim HRM.  I don't understand why Garmin swim HR is still not supported if it is in a free open source app like Golden Chetah.
