Manually add Training Load to activities for Fitness & Freshness graph

It would be very helpful to be able to add manual TSS estimates to rides. I live in a pretty brutal winter climate and don't risk bringing my crank-mounted power meter on some of the more snow-ridden, submerged, occasionally airborne training rides I do in the winter, so when I return from a 5 hour frostbitten epic I don't really have a good assessment of what the effect on my fatigue/fitness would be. It'd be handy to be able to punch in some kind of guess so I can better keep track of my fitness curves. Just a thought.

Thanks!

Strava has now released two new features, Fitness and Perceived Exertion. With Perceived Exertion, you can rate the effort of an activity that does not have heart rate or power meter data and have that effort count towards both Fitness (mobile) and Fitness & Freshness (web). You can also set Perceived Exertion on an activity to override heart rate/power meter data.

  • Yes please!!!  I travel a lot and work out in hotel gyms and would LOVE to be able to manually enter a TSS estimate for purposes of the Fitness & Freshness tracker.  Please add!  Thanks!

  • That's a good idea.  I was thinking the same thing but only because I have two bikes and one power meter.  However, I have a pretty good idea what my TSS is based on previous rides and HR data.

  • People - Please be sure to "click me too" to increase the vote for this feature.  Also, if you want this you probable want https://strava.zendesk.com/entries/25549064-Fitness-Freshness-graph-improve-input-options so vote for both so that this feature gets some momentum.

  • Same here!  Especially in the winter, I sometimes do not have the opportunity to ride with my power meter.  But a very good estimate of TSS can be made, cause the loops resemble a lot to powermeter ridden rides.

  • Add me to the list for this. I just did a 115 mile ride this past weekend, but I forgot my HR sensor, so it looks like a "rest day" on my fitness/freshness graph. There should be a way to manually put in an estimate for this value, which would be better than nothing at all.

Also, let me also say (again) that fitness/freshness really needs to have run activities included as well, not just cycling.

  • Agreed, this seems so simple. It makes one of the featured premium features totally useless. I did a ride with my PM Friday and a spin class Saturday where Strava failed me on two levels: can't record indoor ride/HR on mobile app, and then can't manually enter TSS - there goes any somewhat accurate charting.. Love Strava but getting frustrated how many of the features I think are no brainers for premium members have been up here for years and almost all have "not on the list" responses.. What premium features ARE you working on would be my question...

  • This is embarrasing, was trying to find any easy way to manually edit an activity (so I could manually add an average HR) and stumbled across this.

4 years plus of this being asked for, and I can't even see one reply from Strava! Pretty poor effort Strava.

  • I'll add my vote to this feature request. You would think it would be a trivial project for a junior dev.

My use case is capturing the effort from a spin class. The spin bike records power, TSS/IF etc but there is no way of exporting to Strava.

  • Cancelled my Strava Summit/Premium. Strava was nice years ago but no updates of any meaning anymore. For training tracking the basics aren’t there. Bye Strava, keep on sleeping 😴

  • Soooo....  going on 3 years and this simple feature hasn't been added yet? I haven't needed it until now, stage race with a dead power meter battery and couldn't find a replacement. But this lack of response to overwhelming community demand will see me cancelling my premium membership.

  • Please please add this functionality!!! Make it not worth my time or money to keep using TrainingPeaks

  • How hard is it to add functionality like this? I can manually estimate a TSS from one of my other activities if I forget my heart rate monitor. If I can’t add this in then my fitness and freshness data becomes inaccurate.

This is the main feature which drives me to be premium. What are you doing with our fees? I have just downgraded as so frustrated with the attitude to user’s needs.

  • A simple manual entry for 'suffer score' in activities (&/or the ability to edit it after being calculated) would suffice for the graph to interpret it & not let it become inaccurate, otherwise it is useless. A lot of the time with running the HR monitor doesn't work for some (or all) of the run but we know roughly how hard we're working so could at least have a go at correcting it after. It's our graph so would be up to us to maintain then. Please add this simple feature!

  • Yes, I don't understand, why I cannot see my manual added activities in the fitness overview! For Premium Users this is mandatory (even if it is already requested since 3+ years without Straka taking any action :-(  ).

  • pretty unbelievable actually how unresponsive they have been to this.

  • Just canceled my Strava Premium membership (that has been active for 5 years give or take) because obviously, Strava doesn't care about the input of myself and these many, many other customers. A competitor is getting my monthly payment as of now.

  • Yep been premium since 2013, just cancelled as well, will renew when they add this feature.

  • Seriously sucks.

I quit premium years ago because of this easy function is missing. Instead use Training Peaks which is perfect for planning and evaluate training, especially when doing several types; triathlon, gym, MTB, skiing....

I get notification mails of this support discussion thread and I am shocked that it has still not been fixed.

Love the rest of Strava but no need for premium when the functionality is not there.

  • Just another user amazed this feature hasn't been added yet.

Went on a 40-mile ride but forgot my hr strap, it would be nice to manually edit the training impulse score so even a 50 gets averaged in instead of a 0.

  • I'm bemused by the lack of response from Strava. Strava, any reason for not answering? Thank you.

  • me too.  Anyone found a workaround to add a second "ghost" activity in some other workout app with some basic paramters that could be uploaded alongside the one with the missing TSS info?

  • i can't believe I have read 6 years of requesting this ability to add manual input into F&F on this strava feedback site and no response or upgrade from strava .. yet the site talks about how great F&F is and how the heart rate tracking has improved so much in recent years  .... and it seems the competition provide it from reading the posts

    what are you thinking strava?

  • Hi,

Would love to be able to enter it manually not to mess up the performance graph....

  • Yes please. If you can do this I can abandon WKO+ as one can estimate it there, for their similar fitness/freshness graph. However - I hate that interface! It's 'designed' by non HCI literate sports beings!

  • I do about a third of my training on a spinning bike at a gym - without the ability to manually add training load I'm going to have to start using WKO+, Training Peaks or Golden Cheetah. Therefore when my Premium Strava subscription is due I won't be able to justify it.

Please Strava - give Premium Users who own a power meter the ability to manually add training load!
