Zoom in feature for Activity altitude/elevation graph

There used to be the option to Zoom in the graphs so you can look at 1 or 2 kilometres out of a 100 kilometre total ride. and see the grade and speed etc with more detail. this was a good feature for longer rides or segments.

  • This is essential in my opinion. Just add a zoomable elevation graph alongside the already existing graphs. This would also help immensely when creating a new segment, if the option to create a new segment from a selection of a ride was to once again be implemented.

  • I was about to submit the same suggestion. For a 1 mile climb out of 60 miles, the elevation graph is useless. The Speed/ Power/ HR plots zoom nicely, but I've no idea where on the segment those data point occurred.

  • I second all the comments above. We need to be able to zoom in on the altitude graph. If the other graphs zoom, why not this one?

  • Agreed.  Between removing the ability to zoom in on a section and removing the comparison tool, the new pages are significantly less useful than the old views.

  • IIRC elevation was available previously in segment analysis - having it there would be useful.

  • Thanks for your feedback on our elevation graph for Activity pages. Definitely some good points raised here! I'll keep this thread updated if I hear any word about future developments with our zoom feature.

  • yeah - what Steven Bush said. We NEED it! (why would you have ever removed it in the first place????)

  • This is an absolute must. I'm trying to analyze my ride and the gradients taken but it's pretty much impossible to do on long rides. Unless I made a segment for every bit I want to analyze, I can't do it and that wouldn't be a very good way of doing things.

Absolute priority personally, I can't think of anything else on Strava which is so glaringly obvious to implement as an improvement.

  • This is critical. If this functionality is not re-implemented very soon - e.g. in the next week or two - I will be looking for another solution that offers this functionality. Strava is less than what I need without this functionality.

  • Agree with all of the above.  This feature is a no-brainer.  Not sure why they dropped it in the first place.  I recently rode a century and not being able to zoom into the elevation graph renders it somewhat useless.

  • All - I've found that one can click the "Analysis" button on the main screen for a given ride and they will be presented with a plot of the ride which DOES provide the zoom-in functionality that we've been asking about... It works in Chrome, anyway.....

  • Thanks.  While "analysis" lets you zoom in to a particular section, the elevation graph itself does not zoom in, at least for me (see attached picture).  I've seen this work on other sites and I think Strava used to do this.  Not sure where that feature went.  I'm using Chrome on a Mac.  Thanks again.

  • I agree as well.  Elevation change and grade data analysis is essential.  It can't be done with what we now have.  Please join me as well in another thread asking for an additional fifth line graph that plots elevation change/grade if it's easier than adding zoom to the elevation plot.  Frankly, I'd prefer to see elevation change as a separate chart.

  • Yes, I really miss this.  Ideally you want to be able to select a part of the track on either the graph OR the map.  I am sure they used to have the feature (maybe I am thinking of Endomondo)

  • Please add this functionality again! I really miss it since the redesign of the website some time ago.

If there is a new option that I missed let me know, but it makes sense to also show or zoom the elevation graph!

  • Please bring this back! It's still there for other activity types like skiing - why not running and cycling?

  • This is the one reason I use other running apps.  The lack of zooming in on elevation graph makes this useless feature in my opinion.  Both relatively flat runs look the same as extremely hilly runs...  I can't compare or know how hilly a particular course/route is using your app.

  • This zooming feature for the graph data is working for Rides....

Why are RUNS not shown with that same feature?  zooming into portions of graph or toggling graphs by time (instead of distance) is very helpful once runs get to be longer.   A handful of hills or a tempo section....quickly gets washed out and disappear on a 15 or 20mile Run.
