Include weekly accumulated TSS on the training log

For those training with power, it would be great to see accumulated TSS on training calendar along with time and distance.

  • ...and why not hrTSS (as Trainingpeaks does) for those using just an HRM?

  • Also, include TSS as a weekly goal as I personally believe it's a better indication of my weekly training status than time or distance.

  • Please could we have:

    1. Accumulated Training Load in the Training Log

    2. Goals for Training Load (weekly, monthly, annual)

    3. Challenges for Training Load

    4. Goals for Fitness in defined period from when they are commenced - say achieve fitness level or change x in number of days y

Thanks!  Strava power features are a world ahead of where they were two years ago when I last had a premium subscription - I appreciate all the hard work you guys are putting in.

  • Great idea, especially where one is mixing normal training with work on an indoor bike, or ride different type of routes i.e. flat, mountainous as I do, because time, distance and elevation won't be good indicators of your ride efforts in the same way as TSS.

  • I think TSS per WEEK (in the http://www.strava.com/athlete/training/log view) would be the biggest quick win feature. Find a UI mockup in the attached image file. It would be pretty easy to add this feature.

  • Yeah, Training Peaks does this really well. So many more opportunities for Strava to use the TSS data.

  • Yes! I was just thinking the same thing and came here and searched because I figured I couldn't have been the first person to think of it. Putting it on the training log page would be great. It's a much more important metric than time or distance.

  • I made a Chrome extension which calculate weekly accumulated TSS in the training log page.

If you are a Chrome user you can install the extension from

    https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/strava-plus/cdjkehgklopnffaenjgmbmckkeiaengi/

I hope it will help you :)

  • Naoki

I have installed the Chome plug in, but the accumulated TSS is still not appearing in my training log.

Are there any other setting (privacy etc) that need to be activated for the Strava Plus plugin to work ?

  • Wayne, I've found an issue in ver.1.0.

Could you update the plugin to ver.1.1 and try again?

  • Yes please. I am toying with the idea of swapping over to paying for Training Peaks from Strava Premium for these types of features. I currently pay for Strava. I will not pay for both services and currently I am happy with Strava, but unless some more simple power based statistics are added I do not think I will continue. Weekly and monthly TSS (training load) and HR based TSS. These are important statistics for cyclists with training plans!

  • Why is this not added yet?? So many easy things to implement to make Strava more competitive with the likes of TrainingPeaks etc...   you could even bump the price ever so slightly and have three levels of service and roll out a more sophisticated analysis and performance management package more on par with TP... People would generally prefer to just use one software as opposed to paying for two (I think...). TP is pretty dated (as much as I like it) and has the same old dated/clunky UI... it would not be hard to do this. The Strava analysis for premium members is so limited as it stands and cannot really be used by anyone who takes their sport slightly seriously.

  • In light of the new management at Strava apparently paying attention to it's users finally, this would be an incredibly easy way to get me to pay money. TSS is one of the best metrics of training with power. Quantifying load is hugely useful.

And why not make it so that it remembers the last metric viewed (or lets you set a default) - for example I 100% do not care about distance. It's the most useless training metric to me, and I always switch it to time. If I had TSS, that'd be my default.

  • Yes, I agree with Rob Guinn and the other posters. Please Strava! I want to set a weekly or monthly TSS value instead of distance or time. You could also make it so that one can set different goals. TSS per week/month and maybe distance or time per year would be a good middle ground.
