Upload Training Plans and future workouts to Strava

It'd be great if we could upload a training plan and have the log check off our planned activities, send us alerts of what today's run/bike will be, or shame us if we skip a day.

  • So the training plans are here for premium members. See: "Training -> Training Plans".

My only feedback at the moment (signed up to 6 minute climb to test it out) is that when you cancel or stop a plan; the prior notification on the dashboard remains (I cancelled the 3 min climb).

So currently looks like I'm doing both / bit of spam / small bug. Otherwise interesting to see how this goes.

    Regards

Yup - but not for runners :)

    Happy New year all.

  • Happy new year!

Yes, it is indeed true that this feature request has been partially implemented. Training plans by CTS are now available to cyclists on Strava Premium. Documentation can be found here: https://strava.zendesk.com/forums/21787790-Training-Plans-for-Cyclists

We hope to see Training Plans for runners coming early in 2015.

    Thanks!

  • Hello Elle,

Is there a chance we will ever be able to use the calendar to make our own schedules?

    Thanks

  • @Mark - yes indeed there is a chance, but we don't have plans for such a feature this year!

  • Why use Carmichael Training Systems?

Chris Carmichael rode Lance Armstrong to fame and fortune - acting as coaching "cover" while Lance was really doping and training with Dr Ferrari.  And - settlements aside to avoid court cases - it is pretty clear Carmichael has no qualms with doping athletes, even lying about the "vitamins" he is drugging them with.  See http://gazette.com/doping-questions-remain-of-springs-based-armstrong-coach/article/149946

Strava's "Stand With Us"prioritizes (1) following rules and laws, (3) sportsmanship, and (5) watching out for each other.  Associating with a man unrepentant for drugging junior athletes without their knowledge or consent flies in the face of those principles.  Strava associating with and promoting CTS tarnishes Strava in my eyes.

  • Add another vote for being able to create your own training plan. My issue with the training plans on runkeeper and other platforms is that they tend to be geared towards beginners (couch to 5k, Sub 2:30 half marathon, etc.). Would be great to have either or both of 1) training plans for a wider variety of ability/experience levels 2) the ability to create personal training plans. Definitely something I'd go premium for. Thanks!

  • yeah, TP and GC both allow this - for strava to do it too would be great. I suspect strava would do it quite a lot better ;)

  • To add to the party here, I think having the ability to add your own custom training plan within Strava should be functionality provided in Premium. Clearly, right now, it is not. When? Or at least some clarity of intent from Strava would be welcome.

  • Lach Spot on, I have stopped my premium sub simply because there is not enough benefit. Now if I could plan all my training in strava and then measure my performance against the plan, that would be worth the sub. Also, frustrated by the total lack of comms or response on this issue from strava. I don't understand why these forums exist if they just totally ignore the suggestions that are made. Totally understand that many suggestions are not practical or too expensive to code. But could they simply not provide some indication of intentions? Cheers Alec

  • Running Ahead offers this capability - create your own plan rather than just canned offerings.  I realize it's not strava but it very nice to compare planned to actual.  It will also email you the workouts you have entered.  Doesn't seem they are interested in this ability given no responses to this.

  • C'mon Strava you can do it!

Please add a feature for premium members where you can create a custom training calendar. You have all the data in different sections already, surely you have seen what others are doing.....

People have stated it repeatedly already -  this addition would be another feather in the cap for Strava.

  • Totally agree with others. I found the provided plan currently is very limited. i.e. I cannot even change the long run from sunday to saturday nor can I have a custom 16 week plan. I am premium user mostly because I want to support you guys but haven't seen much useful features coming out of it :(

  • Just signed-up for Strava Premium assuming a pretty basic function like creating my own training schedule would be included. Surprised and disappointed it's not. I need to keep a schedule on a separate service or manual document. So I've discovered Strava only provides half what I need.  Not happy.

  • Me too - allowing any Strava member to add their "planned" activity and/or training programme should be added to the standard features.

A lot of people will know what works for them, or want to keep themselves on track with their own plan.

    Can't be that hard...

  • The ability to properly upload my own trainingsplan and track activities against plan would easily make me become premium member. As many of us I do different sports, so this feature would need to be multisport-aware. No exclusive binding to pre-build plans, please. I have my own.

  • PLEASE add this feature soon.  It would make Strava that much better to have this very basic feature.

  • Seriously annoying that this is not a feature.. It was the reason I bothered checking out premiums trail. If this isn't a feature I'll most likely come off premium at the end of the month as the only benefit to me is the HRM Suffer monitor.

As a developer I can see this being a few sprints of work and surprised you haven't built it.

  • Agreed. You need the ability to add training plans. It's a gap in the service today.

Better yet would be to integrate plans that already exist in other platforms as a running start (bad pun).

While training for a race, I typically create a calendar of runs in Garmin Connect. It would be great if you integrated them. I think of it as two layers.

Nice to have: Update my weekly training goal with the total distance of runs planned in my Garmin calendar for the week

Even nicer: Embed the runs into a training plan in Strava

Alternative: Push the training plan from Strava to Garmin (so I can use the activities on my Forerunner)

    Thanks for your consideration.

  • This would be great! Garmin Connect has a relatively (surprisingly?) nice interface for developing workouts on the web page on a calendar view and then having them come across to the watch. It would be great to also have this sync to my actual calendar as well to help plan my day/week.

  • Cmon Strava. When are you going to at least reply to this ongoing thread. Custom training plans for premium members is s value add service which will encourage ongoing payment and new premium members. Why wouldn't you provide this as a feature
