Add Additional Age Groups Such As: 65 -70, 70 - 75, 75 - 80, Possibly More or Less, as Appropriate
As an old fogey, I believe that the current 65 & over age group does not fairly represent the diminishing physical abilities of a significant and increasing number of older Strava members.
I suggest, therefore, that extending the age groups, using a maximum of 5 year gaps, for the first few new groups and, possibly, 3 & 2 year gaps for older groups, or whatever is appropriate for the loss in physical abilities and cycling attributes in relation to increasing age.
Such a range might be: 65 -70, 70 - 75, 75 - 80 and after 80, or perhaps before if considered appropriate. The age range for the older groups could, perhaps should, be reduced to 3 year, or 2 year gaps. Clearly, though, the extent of the new age groups ought both fairly represent the possible physical abilities of the older cyclist and fairly cater for the Strava membership profile.
