  • The update certainly looks better and is more user friendly (readable) while riding, but it is disappointing that the current speed and current heart-rate have been replaced by averages. As mentioned above, it's not the best when it was available on the previous revision. Also the back light is very bright, maybe toning it down/having bight colours may be a better option. Apart from those I'm pretty happy with it.

  • Really don't like the new update.  I find the 'play' button interface difficult to start/stop for activities (compared to the previous 'target' button which was easy to see and press).  When you are exercising you need something really simple in the middle of the screen which is easy to quickly hit.  The play button is too small and it's all too easy to press the link in the middle which takes you to the Strava website and away from record activity.

Thought the previous interface was intuitive and simple to use.  First reaction with the new interface, is "Ok what do I press and what do those options mean?". This reaction implies that the interface is not as intuitive as it used to be. After experimentation, some of the new buttons to access settings from the record screen appear good additions, overall I think the interface has gone backwards.

  • It looks cool when you're not trying to actually do anything. Strongly recommend for the next update that @strava add someone to the UI team who exercises without their reading glasses. Opened the app on this morning's bike ride expecting to record it only to find that the app update I did this week included a complete refresh to @strava. For what it's worth, I COULD NOT figure out how to record. Totally unintuitive. Ended up giving up and riding without recording.

  • I think it is a fantastic app! I have had no problems at all with it, never lost data, never lost a connection and always works fine on my rides.
I could see it being a bit to much lite at a nite ride though, can't you use your phone dimmer to control that?

  • I wish I did but I don't. I am a huge Strava fan and I didn't realize how important it was until I started using this update. Recording is stopping during rides, my bluetooth heart rate monitor is no longer recognized even after reinstalling. The design adds so much more complexity, which I can wade through and ignore, but the lack of consistent function is what caused me to track down this page.

I know you can't simply go back to the way it was, but reading everyone's feedback indicates that there is some serious design/functionality that has been lost with the new look. I am looking forward to an update that clears up a lot of this, even if it never goes back to the intuitive recording screen you previously had.

  • God, do you guys have the same update that I have? I can honestly say that I haven't had a problem with mine at all! Always records my rides, never stops recording in the middle of a ride and always downloads my rides with no problem at all. I think some of you guys may be suffering from a bad connection to 3 or 4 G while you are riding.

  • I think some problems described here result in bad hardware implementation (eg bluetooth problems). On iPhones there no change in that way.

But nevertheless there are some flaws in the new UI

    • Live segments are cool, but we want them the same way like on garmin devices: Notifications before the segment starts an live position. Also a display of the current position an segment on the map. And to see exactly when the segment ends.
    • Virtual leaderboards. I want to see where I am standing after completing a segment. Why can't I just press on the segment an look at the leaderboard? With a virtual position (knowing that my real position is valid after uploading my ride).
    • I want to look at passed segments during the ride, not only when I paused the recording. I know that this might be dangerous not to watch the road, but during slow uphill rides it would be no problem. This was possible in the old version of the app.

  • The record screen in the previous version was more intuitive and required less waiting time to get going on my bike ride.

  • I know this is not the right thread but can't find anything about the new Feed->Ride screen. I do not like that half the screen is now segments leaving only another half for the distance-heart rate-speed chart. The thing we would most want to see as big as possible Strava made it smaller to make room for placement In segments. Forcing segments at the expense of the graph may appeal to the uber-competitive folks but at least give an option to make graph large

  • I find it hard to distinguish between the dot or the square in the record button. I never remember which one is record or which one is stop or pause. There are standard symbols available for these functions. Just go and take a look at any recording device.

  • I don't like it at all, and I have lost several ride recording in the past couple weeks. First, I'd like the option to switch back to the old screen. I never use the map, my ride are often in no network zone, and in fact I always record on airplane mode to save battery and only use the GPS.

Now, I've been losing recordings too. They start fine, then check my phone mid way and still looks OK. I get home and the phone is asking to turn on location services, which are on by the way. Strava usually has stopped and lost part of my ride. Very frustrating. This has never happened before that update. And I have lost of recordings.

The location services dropping has been mentioned earlier in these posts, so I'm not alone. I hope this gets fixed, racing season starts soon, and I can't afford to lose recordings. Strava is still the best, :), don't get me wrong.

  • please bring back the auto-lock feature. or a manual lock would work too.

we've lost quite a few recordings due to this (lack of) feature.

    otherwise, it looks great.

    Thanks,

  • Don't like the white.....I'm anti change really.  But it would be nice to have the option of black or white.  I just don't care for the feel of it.

  • I was extremely disappointed with the white screen. It's hard to look at. The contrast before was much more asthetically pleasing to the eyes & I could look at it for long periods of time. Now, I feel like I'm in a room of terrible fluorescent overhead lights & I wish I could remove the update. 1st problem I've had with strava🙁. Next time consult with intuitive, creative, conceptual people who know what looks right. The white is bad.👎🏼

  • Not good. The Strava User Interface has always been counter-intuitive to me. Now it is even more so. My issue has always been the start/stop indicators. I've missed logging many recent runs do to the fact that I can't tell whether it is recording or not. You have more than 16 million colors available in the RGB color space. Please use them. How does an orange circle with a square inside (stop) indicate "it's going"? Use colors people are used to in daily life. Green means 'go' or 'going'. Red means 'stop' or 'paused'. I use another popular app for running and it has a large button that says "start workout" in the middle of the button (not at far end of screen in small print) and "pause workout". This makes it easy to know at a glance whether it is actually recording or not. Can't comment on any other elements yet as I can't get past the record issue. Thanks for listening.

  • rubbish. old black version was better and more intuitive and easier to understand. new version too mininalist and the change fom red to blue for the route is hopeless. cant differentiate it from rivers and motorways as they are in blue also. why change when it worked fine...suppose you have to give the developers something to do !
