    Hello all,

Yes, our engineering team has been working hard to fix Strava's file uploader to resolve issues like the ones reported here. We now have a new file uploader and processor which should get your swim activity stats correctly.

Please send us a swim activity link and your device/model if you notice any persisting issues, and thanks for your patience.

  • I actullay noticed that although Strava records my swiming time say 59 min, when I look at the list of all my activities, the swim time doesn't show on the main Dashboard. As the time of movement is showing 0, the leaderboard does not update properly either.

    Please help.

    I have a Fenix 2.

  • Same here ... I've been in touch with Strava and it's due to updates for the 9-series, the swimrecording/syncing with the Fenix 2 is broken.

Actually, from the moment i've pushed the "lap/pause-button" on my watch, everything after that hasn't been synced to Strava.

Still waiting for a solution ... allready a few weeks.

It frustrates me that i'm paying for something that worked perfect and suddenly it isn't anymore and buying a "new supported device" isn't an option.

    So, Strava, fix it !

    Thx

  • I have the same issue with my Fenix 2. Moving time is derived from first interval time not the total swimming time.

  • Same issue with swim activities from my Fenix 2. I'm looking real quick over the distance listed !!

  • I am also experiencing the same sync problem as described with my Fenix 2.  Strava only recognizes the first interval and then averages incorrectly based on the entire activity duration.  Although that 26sec/100yd swim time today looks pretty impressive.  Would love to see something that used to work just fine resolved quickly Strava!

  • Same problem here with my Fenix 2 and swimming.  Used to work fine.  Any news about a workaround or fix?

When I contacted support they quickly corrected my one workout.  That's nice but I'd like to figure out a real solution.

  • I tried https://tapiriik.com/ for syncing and it work better for the one swim activity I synced with it.

I'm curious if anyone else has better luck with this route.

  • Same here with a Fenix 2. It syncs the activity and total distance but averages lap time based on first lap.

I do use tapiriik to sync activities and best to my knowledge, that is the software that is syncing Strava and Garmin Connect (along with Garmin to other software/sites like MapMyRun, MapMyFitness, Endomondo, Dropbox, etc.)

  • Workaround:

For what it's worth, I was able to export a TCX file from Garmin Connect (click gear icon in top-right of screen > export TCX) and import it into Strava (orange '+' icon > Upload Activity), but it converted distance to miles instead of yards.

It's a temporary fix, but frustrating it's not automatic and still not quite right...

  • Same problem here, also Fenix 2.  Is this really unique to the watch?  I thought surely any garmin swim-capable watch would produce identical data, interpret the same way by strava - no?

  • I have stopped using Strava's sync and switched to https://tapiriik.com/ for syncing from Garmin Connect to Strava.

All my swims are fine now using this syncing mechanism.  That implies the issue is likely with Strava's sync rather than Fenix 2.

  • Exactly the same issue with my fenix 2 and auto sync.
Very frustrating as it ruins my total hours trained for the week, which i like to recorded through strava.  Subsequently, I also lose out on the leaderboard :(
I never used to have this problem.  It all worked fine for the first 6months that I had this watch and for the last 6months its been playing up. Very keen to hear of a fix soon.

Also, is it possible that will be restrospectively fix the files or are they old ones stuffed for good (without lots of manual toying around)?

  • Marcus, I am having luck with deleting the swim from Strava, downloading the TCX file, manually uploading it to Strava, specifying the uploaded workout is a swim and it seems to work.

It's a total pain and something I have to do as soon as my swim first loads in to Strava or I lose comments, kudos, etc. when I have to delete the workout and upload the TCX file.

A pain fo sho! I wish I knew how to increase visibility of the bug to Strava's tech team. I may have to resort to Twitter...

  • Hello everyone -

Seems like as of May 2016, we have at least 2 open bugs filed for Fenix 2 swim data on Strava. The main issues stem from unique file formatting from the Fenix 2 which is unexpected by Strava.

Thanks for your patience, and we'll keep everyone updated. For now, the workaround of exporting the TCX from Garmin Connect before uploading to Strava should help.

  • Is this the same issue with the Fenix 3?  My swim sync'd today, but Strava has only the basics.  No laps, moving time = total time, etc.  Would love to see all of the data that the Garmin is collecting (and connect is showing) in Strava.

  • I am having the same issue. The work around, which is manual upload TCX file, loads all the laps, but doesn't show the right pace on the summary. It is using accumulated time, not the moving time. The lap data looks fine, but pace is faster than Connect data. One possible reason is the <DistanceMeters> data in TCX / xml file is interpenetrated differently by Strava.

  • Why is this STILL a problem? It's hugely frustrating for athletes and a big problem for me to continue using strava.

Please bloody fix it, it's been at least 3 months now!

  • I noticed this error and attempted the fix, exporting the .tcx file from Garmin Connect. The times came out super weird for all of the intervals: roughly equivalent to half the time I spent resting at the wall? It didn't make a lot of sense, so I deleted the workout. The yardage for the intervals was correct.

Any word on a fix? We last got an update three months ago...
