Put the feed in chronological order!

This is maddening!

In a nutshell the activities are in some random order that Strava things I want to view them in... I don't!

I want to view them in chronological order, both my activities and those of others.

Bonkers!

  • Yes, my Strava use has diminished to basically the only reason I log in anymore is out of guilt for not giving Kudos to all the people who give them to me.     It hasn't matured as a useful planning or analysis tool (despite having some basic analysis).   I had some fun getting badges for a while, but lost interest after a while.    The social aspects aren't that compelling and haven't matured much (For some reason there's no real ride organizing tool - people still tend to use Facebook Events or Messenger to organize rides).

  • From a user experience point of view it is very inconvenient. I thought some of my friends were not biking anymore, but it seems they are way down in my feed. My son's activities seem not to appear in my feed at all. When he comes back from his ride I need to go to my profile, then select the list of people I'm following, find him in the list, select him and then go to his last activities. For me my sons activities are very important, but the algorithm thinks otherwise. Not having the feed chronologically does not make sense at all.

  • I've simply given up on Strava altogether since they changed the feed order.  I was formerly a regular user, but I haven't even looked at Strava for the past 8 months or so.  I don't plan to return.

I suspect that the answer is for all of us to simply boycott Strava.

  • I've recently moved all my data across from Nike plus and I have to say I'm pretty disappointed that the feed isn't in chronological order. Support can you please advise when this will be addressed given that you state your are the

The #1 app for runners and cyclists

    Doesn't feel like a #1..........

  • Hey Strava, you have said that you are keeping the feed as it is and have no intention reverting back to a chronological feed. I read somewhere that you're basing this on customer feedback from polls you've conducted. Please could you direct me to the results of the polls? I've been a user for a long time and was never made aware of a survey. Perhaps you need to consider conducting another one that is publicised repeatedly through the Strava feed over a period of at least two weeks. The results need to be transparent, so when someone completes the survey they get to see the results once the survey has closed.

  • Ej ., if you select the drop-down from the top of the Strava feed (I'm using the Web version while describing this, but assume the app has something similar), and select "Your Activities" instead of "Following" then you'll get your activities in chronological order.   You just won't get any activities anyone else did (except those counted as part of your activities, e.g. ride partners).  I'm not advocating for Strava here.  I'm not a fan of the new feed, just pointing out that does do you what you ask, as long as you don't care about also seeing others' activities in that same chronological order.

  • Thank youCrispin.   That's great news.  I hate to make one small complaint, but I think it would make more sense to order by the time the activity actually took place, then the time it was uploaded.   Because right now if I look at the times of the activities in my feed, they're still all over the place, chronologically.   But I'll live with it.

  • Crispin - The chronological order should be based on the time of the activity, not by when it was uploaded!  A lot of people I know do bulk uploads, meaning they upload a week or more of activities all at once.  This means that I will have a whole list of one person's activities to scroll through even though they may be a week or more out of date.  Just allow it to be sorted by the most recent date and time OF THE ACTIVITY.

  • Great Strava finally changed the feed and gives us the option of chronology. One problem: IT DOESNT WORK! It's been even worse last days although I have the right box checked. Please fix.. Thanks

  • Its not working in my app, secondly I would want to order by time of start activity, not time of upload. Time of upload sounds better then the rubbish it is showing otherwise though.

  • Hmmm, as one of the earlier ‘critique offerers’ (/complainers), it is great to finally see some action...but, I have to agree with comments since - to prioritise upload time over activity time kind of misses the point. I just experienced one of my mates bulk uploading rides from the last few days and he has even pushed out my activity loaded all of half an hour ago! Time of activity priority please Strava - nearly got it, just the one more tweak needed please (quickly would be fantastic this time - a good chance to prove you have turned over a new leaf and are putting users first)!

  • Well that's good news.  The random feed was most annoying and certainly made me use Strava less.    I hope management are starting to understand that the Strava community don't want another Facebook.   Please listen to us !   ...if you do I I'll start paying again 👍

  • I'm almost ready to re-subscribe now that Strava finally listened to users on this topic....(I cancelled precisely because of this issue) but +1 for actual chronological order please and not time of upload.  It's better now, that's for sure.... but proper chronological order is what people want.

  • Unfortunately the chronological feed ordering is not working for me. I've got new activities appearing out of order even after I changed my setting. Is the chronological sort using upload datetime rather than activity start or end time perhaps? if it is, it's useless!

  • agreed - this is amazingly frustrating! The default should be chronological.

  • In the Android app it doesn't work all the time.
As Frank already mentioned, I have to close the app and restart it and than it works. But also not every time.

Great to see this implemented, but it is still buggy.

  • Android app user here. Is it just me or does the order still not default to chronological (even though I have set that in the settings)? I typically have to refresh the page to get it to show stuff in chronological order?

  • Android app user toi and i confirm it doesnt really work.
By default the orser is not chronological. When i refresh it is... barely.. start hour of activity is not used, so it is a bit of a mess.
I have sometimes an activiy @8am first then an activity @10pm after.

Is it a bug ? Or a choice ? Can strave let us know ?

  • Here same problem. Still no chronological order yet. Have tried several times to put it on chronological, even re-installed. But no difference. Still see activities from beginning of the month at top. Also my statistics are messed up and certain PRs do not show anymore in my profile. Since last update they also start sending mails to Gmail about every kudo. Unsubscribing makes no difference. The feed order has already cost them my paid subscription some years ago, but now they 'force' it by hiding segments. Also the little arrow in the corner for paid subscription I hate, I don't want to show I am paying, only having the benefits. This way Strava is frustrating paid subscribers again!
