  • I would like to filter in > Explore > Segment Search in more detail by steepness (%), length, and maybe average speed. It will allow me to find certain types of Segments much easier.

The reason that is important: by this, the App will be more attractive and the competitive part will only be greater (as you could find Segments which are doable or at least worth trying it)!

  • Strava - why are you not adding a Top 10 tab beside KOM (or just replace Local Legends tab - NO ONE CARES!). The most upvoted post up here (currently 119 upvotes) from 2020 - nearly 2 years ago - states clearly that a Top 10 tab beside KOM would be hugely appreciated, but Strava has not done anything to make that happen that we can tell. This would be simple - currently athletes have to save segments we think we have Top 10'd on which is absurd & cumbersome since Strava has all the data & could easily set this up.

    Does anyone work here?

  • Hi - I run the strava club CphVertical and would like to change the order of the metrics in the leaderboard, making elevation gain, not distance, the primary metric. How can I do that?

    Thanks,

I totally agree with you Steph Durocher in regards to 'tying' a crown time. I understand the crown functionnalities are meant to be this way, but I think this is totally inconsistent from a user perspective. Either one has a crown or one doesn't. If I see a crown on an activity and I get an email from Strava congratulating me for it, yet it's not valuable enough to appear under the segment or KOM/QOM/CR page, then this crown is a fake crown, or has a lesser value than other crowns. This is not uniform across the platform. I think Strava should either remove such tying crowns at the activity level/emails, or show them uniformly across all app/site features. I understand there would be some complexity do achieve this from an IT perspective, but it would only be logical. If you give me a crown/medal in real life, I get to wear it where and when I want, it is my crown. Why would virtual crowns be any different?

  • I agree w the guy who calls each of his horses a bike, stats by "bike" would be a good filter. I ride the same roads on my aero road bike in the summer as I do my gravel bike in the winter. My gravel bike numbers are terrible

Additionally the always needed checkbox of solo vs group ride. I have ruined my Strava by riding local roads hanging on to the back of large fast groups. My PRs are numbers I will never come close to solo. Be nice if you could filter that

  • It sure would be nice if any "runs" with a pace faster than 4min/mile would prompt the user to confirm it was a run, not a ride, or a run, and not the drive home. I'm seeing tons of run segments with impossibly fast CRs and it really waters down the run and brilliance of Strava to flag all that. It would be so simple. Any segment in excess of .25 miles, at a pace faster than 4:00min/mile, just a confirmation screen.... Thanks!

  • Why can we not filter leaderboards with a start date / end date feature ? This would be much better than current settings of today/ this week /this month/ this year / all time. Would be able to do selective search for example tracking a performance/event eg last summer in June.

  • I'm coming back from a long absence from running, and it will take ages for me to get even close to my previous PBs / achievements. And I may never be that fast again.

To stay motivated, I would like to be able to be able to set a time frame and get achievements within that, for example be notified of a best time within the last 12 months.

Otherwise I will never get a PB / achievement again, which I admit is a bit demotivating.

    Thanks!

  • Improvements to Strava KOM/QOM segment competition.

I would like to propose there be some form of competition before a user can achieve KOM/QOM status. Something like a minimum of 3-5 users competing on a segment BEFORE a crown is awarded to the fastest time. This will enhance the user experience with riders knowing they have to compete to get their crown, and will weed out the sandbaggers creating frivolous segments.

Currently in Strava a rider can simply create a segment and become the KOM/QOM champion.

This is not ideal: it cheapens the KOM/QOM experience with users knowing they can simply create a segment that no one has ridden and instantly become the champ with no competition.

This is also leading to users creating circuitous segments to increase their own KOM/QOM numbers, further eroding the spirit of the KOM/QOM challenge.

Let’s agree, it’s kinda bogus for people to be racking up KOM/QOM’s without any competition.

This simple change will elevate the Strava experience, and bring the friendly competition of the KOM/QOM challenge to a higher, more prestigious level for all Strava users.

  • It will be great to add to My Segments table a column with your Rank.

This would allow users to quickly identify their rank on segments and is a nice way to motivate them to keep improving to make it to the top 10. I want to challenge myself on all my segments at least make it to the top 10 but I have to go one by one to find my rank. On My Segments table will be just right to have that information.

  • Tim Dick - There already is a separate category and leaderboards for e-bikes.  The e-bike users just need to select is just like others select "ride" or "run", they need to select "e-bike".  They have their own set of segments and leaderboards.  If you can, remind those people that they should be labeling their rides as e-bike rides.  You can also "flag" their ride and mark it as "wrong activity type".

  • My default activity is cycling, but I have also started recording walks on Strava. I have found that on my profile info, the mileage from my walks is being included in my cycling stats. I want to be able to keep the two separate, but currently only Cycling, Running and Swimming are separated out? My weekly cycling data appears correctly on the left hand side of my activity feed, but no walking stats are available there.

  • I want the activity page to always display that activity's best estimated efforts on a set of standard distances. It will allow me to understand how that particular activity compares to other activities, even if they were different distances. An example of when I need this is when I want to use my best 5K estimate as a constant comparison between runs that are 6, 7, 8 or whatever K.

Here is a picture illustrating my point. I recently converted from Endomondo, and there I would get what I have described above as a graphic. This particular picture shows my best efforts on a set of standard distances from a 12K run. In addition to the times, the bars also show on what stretch of the run each best effort was achieved (which I personally think is a nice-to-have, rather than a need-to-have)

When I complete an activity on Strava today, I am shown my "top results". Sometimes they focus on segments, sometimes on best estimated efforts and sometimes they are missing. This is a problem to me, since it does not provide me with the constant, comparable data points that I need to see my progression on whatever distances I am interested in (5K and 10K for me).

  • Better support for walkers please

Strava has introduced segments for walks alongside runs and cycling. This is a very welcome additional feature (thanks!).

However when exploring an area to find existing segments, there seems to be no way to display walk segments and only walk segments. However a user can easily filter on cycling or running.

Also in the profile, I can set my default sport to Runs or Cycling, but not Walks..

Can we please have parity between support for walkers, cyclists and runners.

A lack of walk segments search facilities reduces the advantages of the walk category for segments. All of my 650 activities are walks (indoor and outdoor).

  • Before i pay for subscription, i'd be glad to hear that you solve some problems and you think 'about quality' (as you mentioned it somehere).

so, have problems about poor GPS data been solved?  like for example accepting segment achievement 50-100m before it ends (thus, shortening time by 50-10 seconds...)

do you still accept poor data? or demand from user to use PROPER accurate device ...

  • I thought I was missing something in settings or something in regards to 'Walks'. But am seeing from other comments that is not the case.

As others have mentioned, I will also echo -> please add 'walk' to leaderboards, goal track and default sport options. I had a knee injury and no longer able to run but want to do all the same activity tracking, goal tracking and leaderboard participation as runners.

  • 8k needs to be added as a PR distance. It's one of the most common collegiate level running distances, and is popular at road races as well. I suggested this on the previous forums at least 5 years ago where it got some support, and it still hasn't been added.

  • As mentioned above, seasonal or yearly PB's would be great.  Currently on the slow slog back to fitness after a long injury enforced break.  I've got no chance of either segment or distance PR's for the foreseeable future so it would be great to have it at least have something pop up saying "Best time this year" or "Fastest 5km of 2021" etc.

  • I would like to be able to see stats for my walking activities as well as my cycling. I have recorded my cycling activities for several years now and found Strava to be excellent for this. As a result I recently transferred my walking/hiking activities from another app, and was disappointed to find that Strava only seems to show stats for the 3 triathalon activities of cycling, running and swimming (see screenshot below).Walking/hiking is my other main activity apart from cycling, and I would like to be able to see my stats for the same reason as I do for cycling. This would help me because I find it motivating and I am able to plan my activities better, as well as reflecting back on what I have achieved, and compare my efforts with others. I realize there are a lot of activities that people might like to record, but walking is very popular, and would not be so different to running in terms of recording stats. Some people have suggested recording walks as runs, but this seems unsatisfactory, unless the category was changed to 'running/walking'

  • Hi, I would like to pass on a suggestion. It would be great if each person had a total number of current top 10 cups shown in profile. No need to have as much detail as KOM, just a current total.
Reason I say this is for the majority of people KOM's are not achievable. I personally have a couple but that is only because they are obscure. The problem I have in my area is we have one person with 3000+ KOM's because 1) they are very good and 2) they literally go out every day and get the KOM they lost that day or day before. Good for them but makes the KOM's pointless for everyone else. Please consider, would really give the average person something to aim at.
    Thanks

  • Melissa Thomson - E-bikes DO have segments with leaderboards.  You just need someone like yourself to make the segments.  Personally, I would be excited to be able to start from scratch and create new segments rather than have to deal with all of the terrible ones made by regular cyclists.  Segments are really easy to make and you can make then for exactly the sections of road/trail you want.  When you are looking the screen where it would show the segments, just click on the button "Create a New Segment" and make one or ten.

  • Feature Request: Disavow Segment Result

    Background
A known bug (in Zwift) caused an error in data uploaded to Strava.  On one particular virtual ride I am shown going 28+mph on a virtual category 4 climb.  That put me in twelfth position out of 119337.  That is clearly bogus data.

I want the ability to mark a segment result as invalid.
This will allow me to mark just the two bogus segments of that one ride as being bogus, removing the bad data from the leaderboards.

The reason that is important is that I want to keep the ride data overall, but I do not want to take any credit for achievements I did not actually achieve.  I want to disavow any PRs based upon bad data.  The only way I can do this now is to flag my own ride, or make the ride private.  The ride, overall, was actually a nice ride.  There was just this one glitch (you can see it in the speed data) where my (virtual) speed is temporarily pegged.

An example of when I needed that was:  https://www.strava.com/activities/5134547039/segments/2817974374393545098

  • I'd like to follow up on what a few other people have posted and suggest that Strava create an actual Trophy Case that includes all top ten finishes on segments. It'd be nice to know what segments one performs well on and could possibly compete for a KOM on. The current "Trophy Case" is more of a badge case for those engaging in a million challenges per month, which often times aren't much of a challenge at all. On the note, a feature allowing those wishing to not see the incredible amount of challenges flooding their feed should have a settings option to hide them. The emphasis put on badges and the silly local legends features and not on top ten finishes and overall performance is off-putting for most people I know.

Also, can Strava get with the times and add a direct messaging feature so those that are friends on the app can communicate directly without having to post a comment on each others activities. I feel like this is a massively overlooked flaw.

  • I am not a high performing athlete but I like to run and I like to beat my records. Last year during lockdown I ran more than usual and smashed all my records, now it's a year later, my performance has dropped and I can't beat those records. I would really like it if there were yearly achievements, like "fastest 5K of 2021", fastest mile etc. It would just help a bit with motivation to know that although I'm not as fast as last year I am at my peak for this year.

  • Like a post i've seen on here from 2020. It'd be amazing to have a place for Top10 visibility. I personally have loads of top 10s but very few KOMs. It'd be great to have this visibility so you can target some of your best segments but also to see where you're performing inside the top10. This would sit in the segments section alongside: Starred, KOMs/CRs, Local Legends.

I've seen this request on here from a few years ago with lots of upvotes, would be an amazing feature

  • Braden Edwards - I understand what you are saying, but sourcing the user's location isn't really the issue.  Yes, that part would be easy.  The difficult, and really unrealistic part, would be creating different categories to match the varying rules for each different jurisdiction.  They would need to keep current on literally thousands of different sets of rules around the world, rules that change from time to time and technology and regulations evolve.  While it could be done, it would be very challenging to keep current.  Even if they could keep current, it would mean that past activities for leaderboards would need to be added or excluded as the rules changed.  Also, if you look at the data, it is hard enough to get people to even indicate whether or not they are using an e-bike to start with, much less know and make the selection of what class of e-bike they are using. It would be great if all of these different things could be broken out into their own categories, but it just isn't very realistic to make it happen.

  • Kevin Caldwell - that's not how placement works in a competition, which segments leaderboards are.  Although you time may only be 3 seconds back, there were 29 people who completed the segment faster than you, thus you are in 30th place among those who completed the segment.  If you do a race, you don't get the 3rd place medal for finishing 3 second behind the leader if 28 other people were between the two of you crossing the line.

  • Recently, CR - Course Record - got merged with XOM, even for flat segments. It looks like a mistake, as X 'of the mountain' is incorrect if there is no mountain. Course record is a universal term so if it has to be a single term, then take that one.

  • For Virtual sessions on Zwift it would be nice to filter out the obvious weight dopers. There are multiple climb and sprint  KOMs held by people putting out much lower wattages than everyone else along with low heart rate.

For example - https://www.strava.com/segments/16164889?filter=overall  - Current KOM is putting out 146 watts with second place looking like Chris Hoy at 1900watts

Can you put in some logic for when someone gets a KOM that it looks at the watts per kilo and makes sure it is sensible compared to the rest of the top 10 in the table. We may have outliers who can appeal the flagging of the activity but then they will be able to explain that they are a pro cyclist returning from a degenerative bowel disease which has dropped their weight to 30 kilos.
