How to format your new idea and/or feedback:

Feedback that is actionable and constructive is most effective. When sharing, please consider the following when framing your thoughts:

  • If you have a new idea, it's helpful for us to understand why that feature is important for you and the value it will bring. For example: I want __. It will allow me to do ___. The reason that is important is because of ___. An example of when I needed that was ___.
  • Specific examples and details that illustrate the problem/confusion you are experiencing. For example: When I do ___, then ___ happens and that is not ok because ___.
  • Screenshots that help visually illustrate the problem. For example: Here is a picture illustrating my point ___ from above. See how ___ is doing ___?
  • An explanation of why this is important. For example: This is important to me because ___.
  • If you propose a solution, an explanation of how that solution would help you and why that is important. For example: I think a ___ would be great because then I could see ___. This is important to me because I have to ___.

  • Rowing QOM/KOMs and leaderboards are useless without a boat category. Rowing boat sizes range from 8 person to a single, so if you get a fast race time in a single it’s meaningless if someone else goes for a paddle in an 8. And on segment leaderboards there is no way to tell what size boat. If there was a way to designate boat categories on activities this would solve the problem.

  • TL;DR: I would like to have a button to re-estimate (and correct) the elevation of a ride.

I noticed that some of my (older) rides heavily over-estimate the elevation. The interesting bit is that if I download the .gpx file, delete the ride and upload the identical track again, the elevation is shown correctly. This tells me that 1) the .gpx file created by my device was correct and 2) there was a change in your backend code on how the elevation is computed. This change is certainly for the better, I also observed that the elevation for my recent activities seems very accurate.

I would like to be able to trigger the re-estimation of the elevation without deleting and re-uploading the activity. In that case, all meta-information (kudos, pictures etc) are lost and it involves a lot of manual work. It would be great if there would be a small button "re-estimate elevation" or so.

I am aware of the FAQ answer about this (https://support.strava.com/hc/en-us/articles/115001294564-Elevation-on-Strava-FAQs#:~:text=Click%20on%20the%20%22Elevation?%22,previous%20automatic%20elevation%20correction%20failed.), however, in all my cases there is no "Elevation (?)" button shown. From the FAQ this tells me that the elevation *should* be correct, but unfortunately, it is not.

For an example, see this ride: https://www.strava.com/activities/1415783911
The ostensible elevation is 3200, the real one is about 2000.

Is this a known issue? Have you experienced similar mismatches?

  • please add a way to quickly view all of my top 10's. why bother showing the trophy in the achievement section of each ride and no way to view all of them? i only have a hand full of koms, but im on a lot of the  top ten lists in my area, but the only way i can share that is to screen shot each segment page. at my age and weight making it onto top 10 lists IS a kom for me...

maybe add it to the kom list tab, or give it its own tab like the local legend tab...

  • Last week I posted the idea of counting the total number of KOMs (QOMs or CRs) per person. Additionally, I think it can be a great step forward if the KOMs are enriched with flags referring to the country in which the Segment is located. In other words:

In the KOMs overview, I would like to see a flag of the country in which the Segment is located, and ideally the option to filter by country. It will allow me to see in which countries the KOMs are located at a glance.

The reason that is important: by this, the App will be more attractive and the competitive part will only be greater, as there will become a new challenge regarding the KOMs: take as much as unique flags as possible!

  • There seems to be a problem with top 10 places today. I don't think they are being displayed on the information for a ride. I got a new second place overall and it is displayed just as a PR. I wouldn't mind, but I don't get many of these!

  • I would like to have an option to only see my stats against a time period. On 9/7/19 I was hit riding and nearly died. I am back riding but due to the amount of trauma my body suffered (14 fractures including back and pelvis, now have arthritis) I will likely never accomplish what I had. But I would like to see how I am progressing as the “new me”. I don’t want to lose my historical data (or QOMs) but at this time my only option appears to create a new profile.

  • Hi.  I wish to suggest that, when invoked, the Refresh Activity Achievements tool only consider data older than the date and time of the activity being refreshed.  I used this tool today on an activity that was a few days old and the refresh stripped the activity of previously flagged PRs and even of a top ten placing (very frustrating).  This would be useful for preserving achievements history.

  • Estimated Best Efforts often end up showing trash data because of bad GPS recordings.

If you contact support to get an activity removed from this calculation, they will remove it and reply saying that they won't remove another one. This is poor process and bad customer experience.

Really you need to build this in as a feature to your platform. EBEs are an important part of the user’s profile and runs do not always happen where there is good GPS reception (in my case I had over a mile running through a tunnel under a river – and this is on a race course, so there is no way to choose another route). Therefore the issue needs to be solved on your side.

It sounds to me like the issue you have is that it uses up man-time for your customer support team. Personally I pay £50 per year and this is basically the only reason I need to contact you.

There are three solutions to this issue:

    1. Customer Support removes the offending activity
    2. Give the user a way to do it themselves
    3. Solve it with an algorithm

Currently you're doing option 1 - that's not good for you, for data quality or for the customer.

If the problem is one of the resources required to manually remove these activities from the EBE calculation then just use option 2 – built out some functionality which enables the Strava user to remove them. Clearly there is a process for this already because CS can do it, you just need to expose it to the user - problem gone.

Frankly this could even be done algorithmically because the GPS issues are clear on the map (this is option 3)– they appear as dead straight lines, or show as very short segments, etc. Even now for the offending run I can see that I have a peak pace over 1km of, literally, 1s/km – that’s fighter jet territory! So algorithmically it is comparatively easy to make this problem go away, but this is more work for you and may not pick up everything.

Basically - give us a button, problem goes away.

  • As an old runner, it would provide some extra motivation for me if segment achievements were awarded by age group. Not only KOMs as suggested somewhere above, but also for first, second and third position on a segment leader board in your age group. I know I can look this up by leaderboard filtering, but having these achievements show up automatically would be nice, and not too hard to implement I think.

  • Better selection of achievements in the activity summary
In the summary of the activity, most likely the only part of an activity followers look at there are personal achievements shown for 2 selected segments.
How those 2 are selected, however, appears rather random.
For instance, on one ride I took place 7/1500 riders for one segment I cared about. Yet, shown in the feed are segments where I got 1200/11000 (I did not even know the segment existed actually and do not care).
Bottom line: I would love to get the 'good' results in the summary and not some random result.

  • I’m echoing a little of what others said but I want to be more succinct.

As a runner, when I have a new best effort, I’m always curious to see how it compared to other best efforts at the same distance. It would be awesome to be able to click on that record, “PR 10 Mile 1:13:36” or To click on the best effort under the profile statistics and see a list of Top 10 efforts for the specified distance, which can be tapped to open the activity it’s related to.

This would be helpful because as Runners we are goal oriented and being able to compare present efforts to past efforts help us see the growth/performance gains. And by being able to go into the specific activities from the top 10 list we can see how our pacing/heart rate/cadence differences contributed in that effort.

Just today I ran my best 10 mile effort ever in 1:13. I immediately wondered how that compared to previous best efforts at the same distance. I had to go in search all my activities based off of name, or distance and go through them one by one defined by second best and third best effort to understand how much better the effort was, I didn’t know if it was by 10 seconds or a two minutes.

Turns out it was by 1:51. But I had to dig to find it. That’s a huge motivator knowing my changes in workout plans are working better.

  • Gavin Duxbury - I could see the interest in seeing what bike people rode for a segment, but I think you would most likely discover that a large majority of people do not actually indicate what bike they are riding in their files.  Most, from what I have seen, either do not enter any bikes or just don't bother to edit their file to say which one they are riding.  Also, there should not be any e-bikes listed in the regular bike leaderboards anyway since they are their own activity type, so you wouldn't be able to compare those anyway.

  • Mike Nottingham - I don't think they are asking for separate segments, just a separate leaderboard for the existing segments that is specific to the time of day, so one leaderboard for "daytime" and one for "nighttime".  This wouldn't require any changes to any device, just a function in Strava to identify the time a segment was accomplished which would classify it as a "daytime" or "nighttime" achievement.  But I agree with you, I think this is a waste.  I think it just follows along with the other request for additional ways to earn crowns of one sort or another.  It seems people want to just make it so everyone gets a crown, which ultimately just cheapens the ones people do get.  Your point about timezones is just one issue I see with this functionality.  Another would be how to determine a daytime or nighttime achievement for a long segment that spans across the timeframes.  Not all segments are 5 minutes long, some are hours long.  Personally, I like the idea that there is one KOM for a given segment (well, two if you count the QOM and KOM).  Some segments are actually faster in the dark (I know I can ride a lot of winter snowbike segments faster with a good headlight in the dark than I can in the daylight due to better contrast and visibility of the trail edges).  Some are better for certain bikes, or certain weather conditions, or certain times of day due to other users.  Going after a KOM is fun because it often means you have to factor in a number of aspects to get the best possible run.  I wouldn't want a separate KOM for one type of bike over another or a separate one for a rainy day compared to dry or a separate one for winter versus summer.  Just one for everything and the rider has to pick the most opportune conditions to make their attempt.

  • When a woman beats everyone (all women and all men's records) on a segment, KOM should be the achievement shown on the activity achievement summary, not QOM. Give credit where credit is due!!

  • Is there way to edit which achievement is displayed on an activity when obtaining multiple achievements?

Example: I did a Gran Fondo  - I obtained the achievement, but on my activity it displays a local ledged achievement I also got instead. I would much rather have the Gran Fondo achievement display instead of the  Local legend on some worthless segment.

  • Hello. Add a TOP 10 tab somewhere so we can keep track of the trophies/top 10 we achieved. Actually, I am trying to keep track outside the app. Oh, and somewhere in the future add the possibility to highlight, on profile, the event/acitivities trophies we feel most satisfied/proud. (as Steam service does).

  • As we get older, our earlier PRs typically become unattainable. Because most of us are very competitive, this can be very discouraging even though intellectually we know we should slow down. It would be great to have trophies and records relative to others in our age group as well as overall (you could conceivably do same for weight). This will give us new goals to strive for.

  • It would be a cool enhancement to add a KOM/QOM page that lists the XOMs you previously had, but someone has since taken from you. That way, you have a nice clean source of segments you can work towards getting back.

For example, if I had the KOM on 'Hill' then it was taken by John Doe, it'd move from my 'KOM' list to my 'stolen KOM' list.

    Thanks!

  • Show all, not just 100 segments and KOMs in profile on the app. Just use pagination, like on the website. Why limit the app to only 100 segments and KOMs?!?

  • Put the list of the nearest 10 segments that you can select from back in Maps!!! It was there, then it was replaced by nonsense. Its nearly impossible to click certain segments on the map instead of having a list. And the list showed more segments than the map does! Please put it back how it was several versions ago. This was an extremely useful feature!

  • Hi out there.

How do I delete a KOM?

I had a crash this spring, and after that my bike was transportet in a car with the computer still on, therefore I now have 5 KOM's and want to be fair and delete those KOM's.

    Thanks..

  • Prinz Pitter:  This is why I use VeloViewer.  It's an addition £10 a year (which I personally consider very affordable) and does an exceptional job of allowing you to filter and view your results in a variety of different ways.  You can, for example, distinguish between "real" and "virtual" rides, even filter on a specific bike, distinguish between walks, runs, and hikes, etc.

It loads data directly from your Strava account for analysis.

Sounds like most of this is solved just by making some longer segments for the whole route you want to compare?

  • Would be nice to have the ability to compare similar workouts to see how you are progressing and how it compares to historical resorts in Strava. Here is an example from a competing running application. Right now there are just "Best Efforts" in Strava and it only ranks them to the top 3 (I believe). The "Best efforts" should be the "rank and compare"; it is also not clickable to see a ranked list.  Would be nice to see how the current workout is ranked for all similar workouts. You cannot see a historical list in Strava but can in a competing application. The "rank and compare" workouts could be a premium features.

  • @ Jason DeBerry Unless you want to compare results from different stadium courses, why don't you just click on "view matched activities" to compare your times over a particular course ? It shows you a list and a graph of times/speeds. Comparing different road or trail courses with different conditions is rather pointless, too many variables.

It would be nice if the list was sortable by times instead of just date but the graph is clear enough.

  • Hi Sergey Altynov! You should be able to see all of your activities on the activity feed using the "Your Activities" filter at the top of the page. However, if you are still not seeing all of your activities in this view, please let us know and we can start a support ticket for you. Keep in mind you can also access all of your activities in a list form using the "My Activities" page, found under the "Training" tab on Strava's web platform - this option also allows for searching through your past activities by keyword. Hope that helps!

  • Further to my note from yesterday, does anyone have a good explanation of how the new CR, KOM and QOM designations work for bike rides ?  I noticed today that the number of Segments listed on my new KOM/CR tab is slightly more than it was on my old KOM tab.  I thought at first I had got a couple of KOMs by default due to another athlete deleting their data or perhaps having an Activity flagged but this doesn't seem to be the case.  I also considered I may have a KOM that is not a CR because it's not as good as the QOM but I didn't find any of these.  After some digging I found a Segment where I previously had the KOM but lost it to another athlete.  The current leaderboard shows the other athlete at the top of the board and me second.  Confusingly the other athlete has the CR and I have the KOM.  If I filter the list to show only men then I am at the top.  The other athlete does not appear if I filter the list to show only women.  Hence I assume the other person has chosen either the "non-binary" or "prefer not to say" for their gender.

I fully accept an athlete's right to make such a choice.  I also think it could be unfair to women to compete against such people.  However, as a man I have no concerns about competing against such people.  Hence I'm struggling to see if there is real benefit to having 3 categories (CR, KOM and QOM) - would 2 be sufficient (one for women only and another for everyone).  If there are good reasons for the 3 categories could there at least be a way to identify the small number of Segments where an athlete is shown as KOM but not CR ?  As my profile combines both KOMs and CRs it gives a list that I think is too long as it shows a couple of Segments where I do not have the fastest time (and these are difficult to identify).
