How to format your new idea and/or feedback:

Feedback that is actionable and constructive is most effective. When sharing, please consider the following when framing your thoughts:

  • If you have a new idea, it's helpful for us to understand why that feature is important for you and the value it will bring. For example: I want __. It will allow me to do ___. The reason that is important is because of ___. An example of when I needed that was ___.
  • Specific examples and details that illustrate the problem/confusion you are experiencing. For example: When I do ___, then ___ happens and that is not ok because ___.
  • Screenshots that help visually illustrate the problem. For example: Here is a picture illustrating my point ___ from above. See how ___ is doing ___?
  • An explanation of why this is important. For example: This is important to me because ___.
  • If you propose a solution, an explanation of how that solution would help you and why that is important. For example: I think a ___ would be great because then I could see ___. This is important to me because I have to ___.

If someone has already suggested the same idea as you, you can help us quantify the demand for the feature or improvement by upvoting the original comment. To upvote, click the up arrow on the right-hand side of the comment.

  • I would love to be able to have a spot to add upcoming races. Oftentimes friends post about "an upcoming race" but it would be nice to know what those races are (if they chose to share their race calendar). It would also give people who follow me or who I follow an idea of what they are gearing up for and where they are in a training cycle which would be nice to know. Perhaps this could even be used in more advanced metrics such as if your current training is going to allow for a proper taper and get you to peak for an upcoming race.

  • Can you please add Sailing as an activity type.
It would be the same as windsurfing, just with a different title and icon.

    • Hello strava programming department

I would like to have a feature of segment records associated with my different bikes and the overall record like right now.

So if I do a new segment record with my ultra fast aero bike, I will never be able to get a new segment record with my mountain bike, even when I do more watts on this segment.

So it would be nice to have an extra column in the activity analysis with the overall best (2nd, 3rd) time of the segment (right now), and the best (2nd, 3rd) with the bike I rode the segment in that special activity.
Also this information (bike specifial record times) should be updated to your bikecomputer for example on my Garmin watch/Garmin Edge 1030+, so if I choose this bike activity profile I have the specificial bike segment records active (plus the overall best times also).
It will give me a big motivation boost speeding some segemnts again with my mountain bike for example.

      Thank you and kind regards,
      T.E.R.Sven

  • Hi,

I’d like to get the full amount of my KOM on Mobil App as there is restriction of maximum of 100 KOM.

If we have more than 100 KOM we’re not able to see them in Mobil App and I except from Strava that we can have all data aligned between the server and the Mobil App.

This is important for the all community to have a clear and correct transparency of our results!!!

It’s why I’m asking Strava to improve and update without limitation the results of KOM in Mobil App.

Thank you to take into consideration this request.

    Regards

    Didier

  • Add Disc Golf as a sport... It's similar to hiking in that you're walking in the woods, but would be nice to be able to separate.

Disc golf is a great outdoor activity to track because it involves a GPS location, time and distance covered, and heart rate fluctuations. Many people have their phone or gps watch on while they play.

PS - ultimate frisbee would be a good sport to add too.

  • Please improve Routes - the maps feature in mobile that auto suggests routes from a certain location based on heat maps is nice for creating new routes, but Strava doesn't currently offer a good way to search for and download existing routes, such as a weekly group ride. I'd love to see a repository of routes like ride with GPS has. The ability to sort them based on popularity would be great too.
And would want to be able to filter based on total distance, surface type, and proximity to my location or a specific user-defined location.

  • Jeff Dunn ▫️ - There are a lot of times that segments need to be edited or deleted after being created.  I have had a bunch of instances where I found that someone had created a segment after a race or when a trail was newly created and the segment was "bad" in some way.  Usually the start or end points are in bad locations or maybe multiple people made almost identical segments.  Through some sleuthing, I was able to track down the creator of the segment and got them to fix the problem or just delete a duplicate segment.  I know there have been times when I created a segment, then someone would go and create a duplicate one at some point in the future. Without being able to find who that was, I went back and deleted mine so there was no longer a duplicate.  Another situation is if a trail changes noticeably from one time to another.  The "old" segment now doesn't really apply so people frequently want to delete those and just have the good segment on the correct new trail.

  • Hi Brad B.! As long as your activity has power data associated with it, you will have the option to choose a power-based polyline for your activity map.

Additionally, thanks for providing feedback on ways we can improve Routes. At this time, keep in mind that you can customize the Routes being shown to you using the Maps feature. You can filter by Run, Ride, Walk and select your preferred distance, elevation, and surface type.

    I hope that helps!

  • Please allow users to upload VIDEOS to their activities, not just photos.

I'd be ok if they were limited to 10 or 30 seconds. But a short video shows way more about an experience than a photo does.

If the duration or file size is limited, also add a feature to be able to crop as part of uploading to meet the video restrictions. Don't make users pre edit / clip videos before upload

  • Allow editing of existing route names on mobile app.

Ex: I created and saved a route on mobile. Now I want to change the name of it... If I want to do this on mobile I need to delete the whole route and create it again just to change the name.

  • WAZE FOR CYCLING
A really helpful feature for cyclists (and for the quality and data of Strava's maps) would be the ability for cyclists (and other sports too potentially) to real time and after rides provide feedback on the route.
    Examples:
Surface quality: Mark a section of road as under construction, rough/potholes, or fresh paved

Traffic/drivers: some roads and parts of town tend to have more dangerous drivers than others. Part of why people like heat maps is that they allow you to ride like locals... So let's go a step further and allow you to avoid roads like locals if they're known to be dangerous, by allowing riders to tag a section of road as dangerous. (It's not enough to just go by speed limit or traffic volume. I can make plenty of counter examples, where I may feel safe on a 55mph highway, if it has a wide shoulder and very low traffic. And yet I am not safe on a local 30mph road that's got a bike lane... Because of how people drive on that road). Cyclists need the ability to help each other out with this kind of info.

There could be other tags as well: great view, protected bike lane, speed bumps, etc. All the things that affect the quality of a route or segment that are more easily collected by crowd-sourced in person reports, rather than existing map info.

The first platform to build a data layer map for cycling that can account for this type of info is going to have a huge competitive advantage. I hope it'll be Strava.

  • I want custom heart rate zones per sport. It will allow me to have a better idea of the effort exerted on each workout. The reason that is important is because heart rate zones can vary significantly between sports. For example, my heart rate zones for swimming, running, and biking are all different

The same custom heart zone system in place could be reused. A single user could create multiple custom heart rate zones and specify one or more disciplines for each. That way you could show me the correct graphics based on the exercise I performed.

  • Strava is known for its segments and KOMs

you can compare your efforts in terms of time, but why not be able to compare by power?

as sometimes people are sat on your wheel, sometimes it is a group versus solo, sometimes wind/weather dependent

this could lead to a segment leaderboard view by power :)

you could get notifications on your ride for personnel best for power on a segment

  • why can Strava not give notifications on your ride if you improve on your power curve for any given time?

for some people they might want to hid this data, but others it will show progression

  • A way to filter the activities shown on the home screen in the Strava app would be nice.

I don't want to see all activities from my connections, just the ones that interest me.
E.g. I do not care about all the (short) commutes, e-bike rides or lunch walks; they distract from the actual runs or (long) bike rides.

This could also solve another suggestion (with many votes!) to be able to hide 'virtual activities' from the home screen.

A very simple filter would be to turn on/off certain types of activities on the home screen (you can still see them if you go to a person's profile; just like when a person uses the 'mute activity' setting for their own activity).

A slightly more complex filter would be even better in my opinion: turn on/off activity types, with an extra condition, preferably 'distance'. So something like:

    Show activities

[running] if longer than [0 km]
[walking] if longer than [10 km]
    etc

If the default value for this is just '0km' you still have the same behavior as the current situation, but the option to be more specific.

Another option to configure this filter is the 'negative' version ('hide unless' versus 'show if'): "Hide activity [walking] unless longer than [10km]", but I guess that's less intuitive for most users...

  • Better Bike Gear and ebike management would be great, having to manually go in and select gear in this day and age is a sad pands.  Here is my idea:

Update activity type to have additional types "Road Ride" and "Mountain Bike Ride" (and the rest of the possible types of bikes.)  It should be trivial for the major players to support sending the appropriate type based on what the user selected on their watch or bike computer. I.e., Garmin profile 'Default Ride Type' has all the various bike options.

In the gear area for each type of bike, one of them would be primary (defaults to on for the first bike of that type added.)  When a ride comes in for a particular type you auto pick the primary bike for that type.

You could show that mapping to the user  (ride type on one side and gear selection on the other side for each type) so they can pick what goes to what.  This would let things like virtual rides also automatically populate the proper gear. I.e., if you use your road bike on your trainer then both "Road Ride" and "Virtual Ride" could select your road bike gear.

For ebikes, I humbly suggest you are currently not doing it in a great way right now.  You can have ebikes of any different type (mountain, road, etc) so it should be an attribute of the bike and activity and not a different ride type.  I would suggest adding a flag 'ebike' to the gear and activity.  If an activity matches a bike that is marked as ebike, then you flag the activity as an ebike ride and you don't change the ride type.

Currently I have to manually adjust every single ride to populate the fields correctly which seems a bit nuts, and certainly leads to missing flagging ebike rides, since when I'm zooming the kids around I don't tend to have the time to stop and mess with strava.

  • Sorry if this was already mentioned, did not want to dig through all the suggestions.

I thought it would be good to have more of a weighted score for challenges, something like:

1 Mile of Biking = 1 Weighted Mile

1 Mile of Biking at 5% grade = 1.5 Weighted Mile

1 Mile of Running = 5 Weighted Miles

1 Mile of swimming = 10 Weighted Miles.

This is basically to take in the actual exertion put versus time or miles.  This ratio could be defined as part of the challenge to push toward certain activities or to keep them all even.

What I find as an issue is that if I run 5 miles, that is like biking for 20 Miles but the activities I have an option for are Distance or Time which is fine is everyone does 1 exercise only but a lot of us do multiple.

The other issue I have with Time is Strava has this nasty habit of miscalculated Movement time, so I may go on a ride with my wife, same miles, same time, same everything but Strava sets my movement time 20 Min less than my wife and that is what is used to define time-based challenges.  So it may help to be able to disable Movement time for activities if it is really off.

  • I wish Strava could give a pace and HR breakdown like it does for an activity but for all activities mashed together for a week and for a month, or just for running.  I'd like this because it would tell me what my over all easy vs hard ratio is (80/20 often recommended), and how much time overall I'm spending in my aerobic base building HR zones during different parts of the training cycle.

  • Different FTP inputs for indoors/outdoors training:

A common phenomena for some riders, due to a number of factors (e.g heat effect (wrt HR), indoor trainer type, gravity, etc), is that indoor-FTP is lower than outdoor-FTP. This means that the functionality of the "fitness & freshness" charting feature is somewhat invalidated.

For example, if one's indoor FTP is say 25W lower than outdoor-FTP then  a "hard" indoor session at indoor-FTP will be logged at a lower intensity/zone (relative to user account's  outdoor-FTP). This will likely then understate "fitness" & overstate "freshness" values and so make the "form" value basically wrong. The compounding effect of this pathed through the tool's times series - if a rider regularly mixes their training between indoor & outdoor  - makes it inaccurate at best.

So, the ability to enter 2x different ftp values would make make this functionality & other session specific derivative variables such as e.g "relative effort", "intensity" more valid/ accurate.

  • This is a call for an explore function for other sports, like inline-skating.
As I'm not only a cyclist, but also a inline-skater I would like to compete on the segments for inline-skating. As skating is less popular then cycling, there are a lot less segments. This means that I specifically want to search for segments, as randomly riding doesn't give much segments. At this moment I can make segments myself, but I can not find segments made by others (and they have no easy way to find my segments). This also means that I can not use the segments to find good skating places (which would be a good way, as skating requires good streets).

  • My pool swim workouts recorded using my Apple Watch's Workout app DO automatically sync correctly with Apple iPhone Health (app) and Apple iPhone Fitness (app). I AM able to MANUALLY import these swim workouts by clicking the Import link in my Strava iPhone app (Settings > Applications, Services, and Devices > Health > "Import"). However, I want my swim workouts recorded using my Apple Watch's Workout app to AUTOMATICALLY import into my Strava account without me needing to click on any links or buttons. All I have to do is click one link and it's done - so easy to automate! I'd like to suggest this as a future enhancement.

  • Merging two records of the same activity (home-trainer Garmin + Kinomap)

Hi, I have a Wahoo home-trainer which I use with the Kinomap app, I also have a Garmin watch.

    We I do an activity:

    - Kinomap provides GPS, cadence, power info

    - the watch record the heart rate

Both generate a Strava entry, but I would like to have them merged into a single as currently it doesn' t really make sense.

    Here is an example pair:

    https://www.strava.com/activities/6688178763

    https://www.strava.com/activities/6688175025

It would be more convenient to have HR in the same Strava entry as cadence/power.

  • Please change the comment input box so that pressing the ENTER key does not post the comment. I have lost count of how many times I've "fat fingered" the enter key when going for punctuation and had half a comment get posted. Many apps have this just work as a "newline" key rather than "send".

  • Tracking Running Shoes

I am a runner and use Strava. I have a few different pairs of running shoes (a few road, as well as trail) and often I completely forget to add which shoes I used for a particular session. (And it’s quite a pain to do every time too) This causes the tracking of the mileage to be inaccurate and then one can’t be sure when you need to replace your shoes.

Is there a way that once a run is uploaded to strava (via Garmin connect or other such applications), that a popup appears to ask which of the your running shoes that you have loaded on strava were the pair that you used for that run?

Could this feature be added to strava? I think many runners who have multiple pairs of running shoes (and I assume that would be most runners) would find that feature most useful.

  • In Run mode, I rely on the audio cues to help maintain my pace, especially in a race. You can't look at the phone or pause the app to get current pace stats. Over longer races (10K, half/marathon) setting and holding a competitive average pace is important.   Generally, average pace when you cross the line determines where you place.  The audio cues right now give you your pace at the split and 1 mile intervals but only for the last split or mile. Could you add to that set of audio cues the cumulative average pace for the run? (that may be useful to other activities as well)

  • @Christophe Lyon about
Merging two records of the same activity (home-trainer Garmin + Kinomap)

    You can already do this.
Turn on heart rate broadcasting from your watch and connect the Kinomap app to your HR Sensor under equipment management. The Kinomap app will integrate the HR data into the activity.
I do this with garmin FR55, iPhone, and Elite Nero interactive smart rollers.

  • would it be possible that you could combine daily all the walks / cycles etc. into one total length (not to replace stats for longest walk, cycle, etc,).

For instance, I've done 3 cycles today, but would be easier for me to view one entry of the combined lengths rather than have 3 separate entries of 5 or 6k.  Likewise for walking, I can sometimes do a lot of tiny ones that i end up hiding but a combined day length would be more useful for me to see as a total.
