  • The Wahoo App has great audio announcements that are fully customizable for data given and triggers.  This would be a great addition to the Strava app.

  • I have missed this in my switch from endomundo to strava so I (painful) run them in parallel while cycling.

  • Agree that it would great to be able to customize and similar to Jeff, I have to use RunKeeper at the same time to get my 10 minute alerts.

  • This is another one of those seemingly basic features that Strava just doesn't seem interested in providing. I really don't get it, especially since it is implemented for running. The original post was in 2015 and no comment, no action, nothing, nada, zip...anybody out there listening?

  • I too agree that Audio cues (for distance and time) is needed not only for running but also for cycling. I would rather say its needed for all the activities.

Request the Strava team to have this implemented soon.

  • I can see that this topic/post is going on since more than 2 years and its suprising that Strava team has not looked into implementing this. Strange!!!

Would urge the support team to revert on the possibility of having this feature.

  • Me too..........I (biker) started using Strava so that my daughter (runner) and I can be friends with each other and keep track of what each other is doing.  With no audio cues (for bikers) the cons out way the pros and I am getting fed up with running map my ride and strava on two devices....I wish Strava would fix this - it must be so simple!!

But in the mean time I am seriously but reluctantly considering going back to exclusively using map my ride.

Please please please Strava - can you sort this out for me and all the other bikers.

  • I want to throw my support behind this request.  I enjoy Strava, but the audio cues for biking are lacking compared to most other competing apps.  Strava Devs please bump this feature up the priority list.

  • Yeah, I just leave my sport on 'Run' so I can hear the audio cues during my ride.  When I'm done, right before I save, I switch it back.

  • I just signed up for Summit thinking this was all I needed to enable the audio cue feature in cycling mode.

    Nope, doesn't make a difference.

+1 vote for adding this feature.

  • Yes you'd think it'd be an easy fix to make audio announcements for each mile in cycling an option as it is in running.  Also, I'd like to be able to see the map while cycling, as you can in the Runtastic Bike app.  And generally the Runtastic app has more info options, such as current speed, etc, that you would think could be added easily.  Somewhat surprised that there seems to be very little response to these requests by the Strava team.

  • I transitioned to strava because everybody was ranting about its features galore but apparently these people don't care about cyclists. I'm a software engineer and I'm sure a feature request dating back to 2015!!!! Could have been planned by now. Strava... It's been a short ride... I'm going back to Huawei health. Even the running interface there is better. Cheers.

  • I'm also bitterly dissapointed. What is your problem Strava?

  • I vote for adding audio cues for cycling activities. I enjoy using Strava, but needing to stop to check my speed, distance, etc. can be quite annoying at times. This comment has been requested for 3 years. I hope the Strava support team responds to these requests and makes this feature a possibility.

  • I was told by a bunch of cycling friends that Strava is the greatest app around. So I joined, and was disappointed to discover that the absurdly simple 5-minute audio cues that Runkeeper has been giving me for years and years are absent on the app. All I want is to be told how long I'm taking when I'm riding home (and I sometimes care about the time per km too if I'm in a good mood). Such a simple thing to implement (coming from a software developer) but it's been years and gotten nowhere? I might just switch back to Runkeeper.

  • I tried Strava years ago, and was frustrated by the lack of mile split announcements, like MapMyRide has. Been using MMR ever since. Came back as I was asked to join a workout group, and years later STILL NO RIDE ANNOUNCEMENTS! Obviously Strava doesn't read or care about these feature requests. Let me know if they ever implement this simple change, which runners currently enjoy.

  • Concur with Brody Castle.  Left MMR due to it's limitations.  The one thing it did better than Strava was provide 1mile audio update with several options to choose from.  This function was very helpful and kept my eyes and concentration on the road.

  • It would be really great to have the audio segment performance audio cues for cycling (and probably other sports besides running) AND REALLY REALLY helpful to have audio for route directions as there is always a first time for a route and its kinda frustrating to keep getting off route accidentally while cycling and VERY difficult to keep your phone app screen wake and keep checking route location while cycling - actually can be kinda of dangerous too.

Please please please fix this SOON!!!!!

  • There are several threads talking about this same issue and the official Strava comment has linked them to this particular conversation. Which is strange, because they haven't given an official response in this thread.

This feature is clearly something people would like to see added and it obviously isn't difficult to add given that it already exists for running. Add it and make it optional and everyone is happy. Tempted to revert back to MapMyRide for this and several other reasons. I stick with Strava because of it's social element and Segments, but as a relatively new user I don't think I'm going to stick around.

  • I MISS this from when I previously used MAP MY RIDE. Now that I am paying for a subscription I feel I can add my voice to the chorus that this feature SHOULD BE ENABLED and made optional for your users. I use Shockwave headphones which transmit through the ear bone and do not impair my hearing while I am riding and this would be an extremely helpful and useful feature! Please add it!

  • I have the 60 day trial but I have to say; people have been asking for this basic feature for YEARS and it hasn't been implemented? Why? Give people what they're asking for! Listen to your customers. Audio cues for rides and let us enter a starting shoe mileage. That's two things I've had issues with and I find that lots of other people have too and no one seems to be listening!
