  • If you are still having this issue with a Samsung phone try this. Go into settings and search for Device Care - Battery and then make sure Strava is an app that is allowed to use the battery and work in the background when the phone goes to sleep.

This fixed the issue for me.

  • I have the same problem too. Sony Xperia XZ1 compact. I tried the above solution, however, in my phones battery care I cant find how to do settings for specific apps.

  • I have the same issues since I got the subscription. Tried the above suggestion and my Strava is allowed on battery backup. I have a Samsung galaxy s10+

  • Same problem with Oneplus 5. That makes the app completely unreliable and useless...

  • I would like to know how to save the ride data after this occurs.  I see the route on the map but there is no "SAVE" option only "start"  on the bottom and "close" on the top right.

  • I have the same problem as Pedro. After 211 km... What to do? "Start" or "close", if I don´t want to lose this ride? :(

  • Erika I could not get your link to work but i did eventually hit "start" with navigation turned off. It then resumed my ride and i was able to stop ride finish and save ( even though i did this several days after my ride)

  • Same issue is occurring with my phone, a Samsung S7. The Strava app used to work fine, no problems at all. Then out of the blue one day I start noticing the mobile app has stopped recording my activity, and there's the "Strava has recovered from a problem" message. First time I saw this I cussed a bit, then restarted the activity. Looked down a few minutes later and found the same message. This has been happening every time I used the app now. I can not move more than a hundred yards without the app crashing and getting the message of the Strava recovering from a problem. I've done everything I can thing to do to fix things, and Strava themselves doesn't have a clue. The only solution that I've found is a temporary fix: Uninstall the app, and reinstall it before each activity. It'll work find for the duration of that activity. It's only when you go to use it the next day that is starts crashing again.

  • Totally fallen out of love with strava now because of this. Utterly hopeless on my galaxy 9

  • Galaxy S9, this started to happen 1 month back.

I fixed this issue  by this,

Device Care => battery => Strava => Put app to Sleep  OFF !

  • Same for me. galaxy s9. started happening a few months ago, then seemed to start working again a few weeks back, but now it's back to failing. I have all the batter saving stuff turned off for the app. It's become completely worthless. My last shred stopped working about 1 mile into a 12 mile ride.

Strava, I know you're busy trying to charge people for the stuff we've already been using for years, but can you get this fixed please? This is making the whole app completely worthless.
