  • Some initial feedback on the builder.   First of all, this is (will be) awesome.  However, it needs some more work.  It isn't really usable (at least for MTB) outside of manual mode.  If I pick two waypoints on a small singletrack trail, it won't connect them along the trail, even though it is well traveled and there are even Strava segments that happen between the two points.

Being a software engineer, my opinion is that it anytime two waypoints are picked, it should route between them automatically based on any existing segments in the strava database.  if there is a conflict with more than one segment, then it could / should pick the more widely used tracks, and if the user wanted the other one, then adding an additional waypoint that was unique to the way they wanted to go would solve the problem.  In this way, manual mode would only be needed for tracks that are relatively strava-free (meaning Strava doesn't have segments that include that part of the trail.).

This would be amazing as it would essentially allow us to crowd source our rides by piecing together existing segments into one big epic ride.   :)

Thanks for all the hard work guys.

  • I really like the route builder, and I find myself using it more and more. Of course the more I use it, the more routes I have, and the more of a pain it is to find routes I want to ride on a given day - I have some for out of town, some for this, some for that, etc...being able to create and organize with folders or tags would be fantastic!
