  • This should have been in there a long time ago compared to some of the other selections.

  • I'd go further and have sub-options for 'kickabout', '5-a-side' and '11-a-side' at least

  • Why is this so difficult?! You have Yoga, Kitesurf session, Windsurf and other MUCH smaller sports... Why not Soccer/Football?! Its stupid!

  • +1  I emailed the strava help desk and they gave no answer as to why, just to post it in here.  I can log a "canoe" session but not a basketball session?  The omission of common sports has to be for a reason... I just can't figure out why.

Sure would be nice to log my crosstrain bball sessions

  • Strava - thanks for keeping me in the loop of everybody posting their request for soccer but this still doesn't help!  How difficult can this be?  Get with the program.

  • Thanks for this suggestion to add Soccer as an activity. Are folks recording soccer on Strava currently (under a different activity type) and would you be willing to paste any links here? Also, are there any stats in particular that would be useful to have for soccer-specific activities?

  • At least for me the reason i want to be able to categorize soccer, is to see how many sessions i have had with the different activities...

I can't see any soccer-specific stats.. Maybe top speed?
What could have been cool is to use a footpod as a measurement for passes/shoots.. But thats probably in the watchs control, and it don't save raw data?

Here are some of mine activities of soccer.

  • For me it's mainly about distance covered which I upload from my Garmin 220.  I also have a heart rate monitor to show my thresholds - usually maxed when playing for an hour.

  • It's preposterous that soccer isn't an activity.

  • +1 I cycle to football (soccer) so always log as a ride but then don't track in game running. Its 6aside so I always put the result and how many goals I scored in description as fun to look back on! Would be much better to track as separate activity though...

  • +1 with a heat map across the single session, instead of the usual heat map over multiple activities.

  • Seriously? Come on Strava! I want one app/tracker not two!

I played soccer/football tonight and thought I would log my activity instead of using another app like Endomondo (that has several options for it). I see ridiculous choices like e-bike, inline skate, canoeing that the tiniest fraction of the population maybe will do once in a blue moon but the worlds most popular game is not an option. Really Running is not a comparison and NOT what I did. How hard is it to add a few options (11v11, 5 a side, indoor soccer/futsal, light training, etc)

  • Hello everybody !

This ticket has been open for a while now, but I built an app that may interest some of you.

    http://strava-football-app.herokuapp.com/

Simply connect with your Strava account and

    - Analyze your Heatmap

    - Replay the game

If some people are interested, I will improve it in the following days !

    Thank you, Pierre

  • I'm using the Run activity, but it could be improved with specific soccer specs. For example: heat areas

  • It would be nice if there was an option for general indoor sports, even just a general ball sports options, indoor or outdoor: basketball, racquetball, futsal, indoor soccer, tennis, etc. I would use my Apple Watch to track but using watches during contact sports is dangerous and often forbidden. I could use a FitBit Zip in my pocket, but as far as I know Strava does not import data from FitBit devices.

  • Pierre,
Is it best to track it as a run and then use your link? I guess basically which activity should we use initially?

    Cheers!

  • Hey Nick Davis, and sorry for the very very late answer.

Yes, this is still the correct way to do, as Strava still doesn't support Football as an activity !
