Hyperlink in Activity Description

If a inlude a hyperlink in an Activity Description, it remains plain text, like http://jgeo.nl/o . I can add html code around it, like <a href="http://o.jgeo.nl">click</a> but it remains plain text.

My suggestion is that the strava website translates hyperlinks-like text into real hyperlinks, that visitors can click.

Sometimes, activities have more related pages/websites, like results of a race, pictures, maps, etc. And I want to include a link to them from Strava, not only a link the other way round. And I would like to make that link easy to follow, not having the viewers to copy and paste or type it over.

(As you can see, in this forum, it works. But not on the activities.)

Thanks everyone, we did at one time have hyperlinks accepted in activity descriptions and comments. However, due to some issues that came up support was removed.

I'll try and start the conversation around this again, and keep everyone posted.

  • Also cool new services like relive.cc, want to be able to add a link to the video replay they create.

    Example:

    Ride video replay...

  • Agree. Relive.cc links being active would be very nice.

  • Relive video links do work, it doesn't straight away but give it a day and the link will become active.

I don;t know about other links they may work after a time as well.

You only need to add the link not any html

  • Thanks Matthew, glad to know that some links do work eventually but I'm not sure why there is a delay.

  • Agree with a more direct connection to Relive.cc. Should be similar to how photos are linked. Relive your ride

    Seems to be allowed here

  • Agreed, Strava! Please allow Relive HTML links within activity descriptions which work properly from the App, as well as the website.

  • so back to original shortcoming/request:

Here 2 1/2 years later there is still no solution?

  • That's correct. Strava's development team has not been listening to customer requests in this regard. To repeat the original request it would be nice from the App platform to be able to embed html links within one's activity description, and to then allow the user to then click on that link. As an example, here's a recent run: https://www.strava.com/activities/2422557547  Note that within the activity description is a Relive link. However, from the App platform a user accessing my training log cannot click on that link. Instead, the would either need to manually copy and paste to a separate browser tab (a real hassle!), or, access the training log from their desktop, where, strangely enough, hyperlinks are supported.

  • Bumping this.  My use case is to have my just giving link on my description under each run to help people sponsor my goal.

Hyperlinks work from the web app but not from the iPhone app, please can you add this functionality?

    Thanks,

    David

  • Hyperlinks still do not work in the Strava App (hyperlinks do work in a browser). Please fix the app.

    Thank you for your efforts,

    Bas

  • Hyperlinks should work in the Strava app but at the very least you should be able to copy the text to paste into a browser URL field.
