"Strava has recovered from a problem and has resumed your recording" How do I save my data after this occurs?

App stopped 3/4 the way through a ride, then phone died.. charged phone brought strava up and it says "Strava has recovered from a problem and has resumed your recording" I left my GPS off for now when I get to the screen it shows the map and where my ride started and where the app stopped. I don't care too much how to avoid this in future I just want to know how to save the data. The only option on the bottom is "Start" and top right option is "Close". I hit close and it doesn't help. I am scared to hit "Start" because I am afraid it will start a new activity. Scared to turn GPS on because it is 1 day later and over 100 miles away from where my ride stopped. Can someone please help me on how to Save the data?

  • Are you able to save the workout somehow?

  • Ok so I saved off a bunch of cache files which gave me the confidence to hit the "Start" button on the bottom of the screen while GPS was off.  Much to my delight when I hit start it resumed my workout and did not start a new one.  I then stopped it or paused it (not sure which) and was able to hit the "Finish" button and then "save" on the top right.  So if anyone runs into this problem I think the "start" button really serves as a resume function.  Not sure what would of happened if I had my GPS on being close to 60 miles away from where my workout was.

SUPER HAPPY my workout saved as it was a paid for ride.

  • This happens reliably on my pixel 2 when I trigger the camera app with double click on power button. Sometimes I ride through some really amazing sights such as construction on Pont Nuilly and I see how two cranes turn towards each other as if to kiss and just have to snap a photo of that. Other times it could be fifty canoes bumping into each other on a lake as someone tries to frantically untangle them or the amusement park employees loading up on vodka before the grueling day of supervising various contraptions that make kids scream.

It would be grand if you could fix it otherwise I cannot track my amazing commutes and take even more amazing photos.

  • Not a solution, but do grab a screen shot while you can.  Then add that to a Manual Entry, so you can get the numbers right.

I have the same on a samsung S5a.  It reliably fails if the phone goes flat during an activity, and also does the same occasionally after a ride.

  • My Strava app was working fine until an Android system update at the weelend.

Since then when I record an activity the app bleeps, like receiving a text.

Also after I stop recording the activity vanishes butthe clock keeps running.

    I eventually get the message

"Strava has recovered from a problem and has resumed your recording"

I can then press START and stop it again and then name and save the run.
The distance and split times are correct but the overall moving time is the total elapsed time.

    I'm blaming the Android update......
