Wrong GPS traking

Strava is not tracking rides correctly, since the update that was released at the end of December 2019. It is constantly showing like I am riding 40-50m away from the actual line. This is causing a lot of missed segements. I haven't had a ride without any tracking issue since that update. I also see a lot of straigh lines going to nowhere, sometimes 100-200m away from my actaul location. I didn't have these problems before that update. I didn't do any changes in my phone stettings, just update Strava. I am hearing from my friedns, that they are having similar issues.

Update:
More updates you release, more borekn tracking is. This app is becoming a joke. I am losing more and more segments I've never been losing before. Like on picture below. White line is actual road, red line is amazing Strava tracking. It is downhill and I've never had problems with tracking when going down the hill. Actualy, tracking of downhills was always almost perfect, very clean line with almost perfect road matching . Now, going 30-40m off. ONE BIG JOKE. Just on my ride today I've lost 5 segments.

  • Yeah, tracking is terrible as of lately, I thought it is my phone but I did not change anything, same as you. My last good ride was in first half of Dec, and in January all look like trash

  • I have had the same experience lately. Strava used to rarely have issues with GPS bounces. Now it occurs for just about every type of activity I am recording. At least 50% of my sessions have some sort of issues.
The same bounce issues are happening to friends I am following on Strava. It's clearly not device-related but more likely due to some updates to Strava's algorithm for eliminating bounces.
Strava Mobile Team please get this fixed asap or you will be loosing long time subscribers.

  • I have already 3 weeks problems with GPS bounces or drifting gps.

I have tried everything also de install and a new install.for the strava app.

    But nothing seems to work.

This morning it was even more worse than ever, Gps bounces. Hope that the will fix it otherwise have to install another activity app.

It is not just the activity but everything with it is also affected the segments and your pace etc etc.

  • Crazy GPS bounce is making Strava completely worthless. So fun to run 15 yards and then hear my split for the world's fastest runner, oy--I am going to submit a problem to tech support, is anyone else doing so AND hearing back?

  • I guess I'll add my name to this list. I've tried everything with my phone (S8), including installing a GPS diagnostics app. I went for a ride with a friend who was able to record perfectly, while mine bounced sporadically 15 or 20 times before bouncing 10km in the opposite direction, and then being accurate for the last half. The last straw for me was a run I did yesterday and after 26 minutes it showed 0.0km. I turned on the Samsung Health app, and it accurately recorded my run home. The problem seems to be Strava.

It's too bad, because I really like using this app for mountain biking. As noted above, however, these issues make the app worthless.

  • I WANT A REFUND! What am I paying $60 for only to have half my ride recorded?I've only had one Strava failure in 5 years before this season. But this year I've already had 7 rides not record accurately. Showing me way off roads and straight lines everywhere. Super frustrated.

    PLEASE DO SOMETHING STRAVA!

  • HELLO STRAVA?
anyone there? It seems that since Mark is no longer driving his team to deliver quality services to users, things are going by the wayside.
I will cancel my subscription if this doesn't get resolved soon.

  • I have Samsung note 8. Each time I try to activate an activity I get this pop-up message:
"BATTERY SAVER MODE - TO ACCURATELY TRACK YOUR DISTANCE WITH GPS YOU MUST DISABLE BATTERY SAVER MODE".
I have tried to find what area of my phone needs to be clear. However I have not been successful. Please help!!

  • Hey everyone, I tried recording my runs with Samsung Health, and saving the GPX data. Then I went to Strava on my computer and was able to upload the file. It was a bit of a pain in the ass, but it worked. I did the same with Runkeeper successfully, I think that goes to show that the problem is with Strava, and not our devices.

Since then I got a Garmin watch that seems pretty accurate. I don't think Strava is going to fix this.
