Leaderboards: Would like solo category

Would like a separate category on leaderboards for solo riders.  I can crank out a 22 mph segment into a headwind, yet a group rider can saunter along in a peloton of riders matching my time with a fraction of the effort.  Totally different rides.

  • Agree. Just want to see my results. I dont need analysis. Currently display is limited to about 7 recent results and none before that but you cant actually read the results as time display faulty - its ove-rtyped? Seems like the new features are just there to make you upgrade or leave?

  • Been thinking that for years. Almost all of the QOMs where I live is a woman behind about 5 guys, lazing along.

  • I disagree. There are far more important things to Strava to develop. Go make some friends.

  • Agree! Before the last change, the segment leaderboard guidelines even stated riding in a group is not allowed for leaderboard placements.

It would actually be quite a nice feature to automatically sort group rides into a whole different category of leaderboards.

Strava already detects if multiple users rode together and displays this as group ride in the feed. So why not encourage riding together as a team by giving all of the riders the title "Kings of the Mountain" and not just whoever happens to be the first because of GPS accuracy. Same for the whole leaderboard, where riders get placed as the groups the rode with, not as individuals.

When you ride alone you get your individual placement on the solo ride leaderboard as usual.

In the activity options you could select "I rode with someone else", when riding with someone who is not on Strava.

For fairness, group rides with someone on an e-bike would have to disqualify the whole group for the segments.

  • Totally agree with you, in addition, I also want to distinguish between road and MTB in the different segments. There are many people who ride mtb on asphalt, and there are many achievements there that are very strong.

  • Unfortunately, it would be really hard for Strava to determine if you were riding in a group ride or solo.  Their "group ride detection" is so bad it isn't even funny.  I get done with rides fairly frequently and find Strava saying I rode with any number of people I never even saw on the ride.  If I look on the flyby, it shows I did a similar route to them, but wasn't even within sight of them at any point, yet it though I was in a group ride with them.
