  • Specific examples and details that illustrate the problem/confusion you are experiencing. For example: When I do ___, then ___ happens and that is not ok because ___.
  • Screenshots that help visually illustrate the problem. For example: Here is a picture illustrating my point ___ from above. See how ___ is doing ___?
  • An explanation of why this is important. For example: This is important to me because ___.
  • If you propose a solution, an explanation of how that solution would help you and why that is important. For example: I think a ___ would be great because then I could see ___. This is important to me because I have to ___.

If someone has already suggested the same idea as you, you can help us quantify the demand for the feature or improvement by upvoting the original comment. To upvote, click the up arrow on the right-hand side of the comment.

  • why do you feel the need to have local legends and then separate out women local legends ? It feels very demeaning to me that women's efforts are not considered equivalent to others and need their own leaderboard. Why not just local legend  - it has nothing to do with gender

  • Is it possible or will it be possible to get local legends on other sports than cycling and running? For example roller skiing and cross country skiing in the winter? :)

  • Not sure how it is right now, but would it be possible to "compete" with others in the following way: who has done the most rides on a segment within 90 days time (so local legend information behind a tab that would be permanent, not like it is said to be right now: the most rides within last 90 days, it also could be both).

  • The Local Legend feature relies heavily on users honesty. As pointed out in previous comments, some users are not honest and record the same activity on more than one device creating an unfair playing field. As Strava records the device used for tracking the activity plus the date, time and gps data, a comparison algorithm could be used to detect and check whether the user has created duplicate activities.

  • I'd like to see the LL made more meaningful by having a minimum number of attempts on a segment. My suggestion is a minimum of 1 time per week on the segment - so 12 time. To see a local legend with 5 efforts over 90 days is a little pointless.

  • Local legends appear to often be plain wrong.

    https://www.strava.com/segments/13125611/local-legend?category=women
In this case, the athlete (who is a friend of mine) has only cycled the segment a handful of times in the past 90 days, but has walked it lots of times. These walks appear to have counted to the local legend status.

In this case, the athlete (who is me) correctly only has rides contributing to the local legend status, even though I have also run this segment a number of times in addition.

Hello Phil Flowers, thanks for your input. We do have some auto-flagging functionality that attempts to automatically detect bad or invalid activity data but it doesn't work great in all cases. We are currently improving this functionality.  In general, Strava is a community-moderated social network. This means that we rely on our community of athletes to monitor the integrity of our leaderboards. Therefore, there is a way for you to address a bad KOM/QOM/CR/LCL but you will need to log into your account via the website to do so. • Hey,

This has perhaps been asked before. I recently created 2 new segments and have been riding them over the past 90 days more than once. Strava shows my time on the segments, but it doesn't recognize it for the LL calculation for some strange reason.

Any suggestions or idea's on how to fix that?

    Ronald

  • When a segment is edited the local legends are not recalculated. The counter only includes activities after the segment was edited. After editing a segment the normal leader board is recalculated and to update the local legend board as well should be a byproduct in my opinion. • I enjoy the Local Legend feature, but gaining a "Legend" status after just 90 days is not very legendary - that is very short-term.  It should be longer-term such as at least 6 months, if not longer (12 months?).  90 days is so short on popular segments, that if the "Legend" is out of town for a few weeks, he/she will likely lose that status.  This happened to me, and very hard or impossible to get three weeks back on a route that others ride 5 days/week.  Calculating Local Legend over a longer period of time will smooth out situations like that.  Strava, will you please consider changing LL to a longer term than a short 90 day period?  If not, possibly rename it to "Recent Legend" which is more what it is now.

  • I agree with Ron Leiken.
The feature is cool, but there should be a longer term competition too.
If someone runs the same segment every day for 10 years, then takes a break, there will be a new "Legend" and nobody will notice his efforts.
It is a bit like the best times would be erased after a few months. Nobody would try to break records if all the records would vanish after 3 months. Something should remain permanently from the efforts people make.

Maybe an additional leaderboard would be great based on how many days (combined) each athlete held the Legend title.
And/or an additional leaderboard with the overall count of efforts.

  • As others have said, getting a you have lost your local legend status for a segment you and 14 people have done once isn't really something I care about , can you set it not to recognise a LL unless more than  2 users have completed it more than twice in the last 90 days. I think the single attempt LL status devalues them whereas if I get a message for one I have done 10-12 times I may decide tomorrows ride is going to get it back.

  • Hi,
Is there a way to have walks included when you complete a segment? Yes you won't get a crown, but you could become a LL walking a regular route.
Users can walk a segment that is recorded as a Run which counts, but if you record it as a Walk, it doesn't.
It would be a good enhancement, especially for those people who are walkers and want to record how they go with segments.

  • I notice that you use "Avg Grade." As you can see, this loop swoops down and comes back to the same spot, thus canceling out the percentage grade change. Shouldn't it be Max Grade whether it is a negative(-) or positive(+) percentage change and not and? My suggestion is to switch out the Avg Grade to Max Grade. Thanks for your time.

  • I am currently the LL on our local track, this is a big deal for a slow runner! However the LL crown is no longer shown after each new activity. This makes me sad.

  • I also would like to separate notifications on LL's and QOM's.
I have no interest in LL's, only QOM's. When I ride se same trip to work very often, I get a lot of emails about LL's on the route... and frankly - it is pure SPAM to me.

However - I want to know if a QOM is lost. So - please separate the two features

  • Could we get it to show not just local legends currently held, but also that athletes have held in the past?

Could be below the fold, still one row per segment (segments ranked the same way they are for currently held) with some kind of timeline.  Although I get that this might be tough for segments where one athlete might have held it for >10 distinct timeframes.  Still would be neat to see some view of past LLs ever held.

  • Dear support!

When will you add the ability to remove or at least hide this Local Legends nonsense from the segment view as it is completely pointless and of no value whatsoever?
