  • Colin, someone showed me that this can be done when you have the paid membership, however it can be only done by logging into the computer, not the mobile site. Seems like an easy fix for them and should be done, would help trail run training a lot.

  • Chris Malcolm this is because the way the goals feature works is different on Mobile than on the Web platform. Goals work better and have more functionality on the Mobile App at the moment. You can create a time, distance, or elevation-based goal for all supported activity types on Mobile, including walks, and these will not necessarily be reflected on the Website because the Website only supports 3 activity types: running, cycling, and swimming. Furthermore, the Web version is limited to establishing time- or distance-based goals, as well as power or segment goals. Power and Segment goals are only available on Web. We would ideally like to make it more homogeneous across both platforms. I hope this helps to clarify what you're experiencing.

  • Eric W. Colin M. a Strava Subscription allows you to create weekly, monthly and annual elevation-, time-, and distance-based goals on the Mobile App, this is something that's been available for a while. However, the progress for that can only be viewed and tracked on the Mobile App and is not reflected on the website.

  • Has anyone ever seen the data of the maximum difference in height (personal record recorded in their profile) that does not correspond to the truth, despite being correctly recorded within the specific activity ?

    I'll explain;
My personal best (I do randonnee and ultracycling) is over 1600Km as distance and over 18000 meters of altitude (D +), correctly recorded in the specific activity.

But only the distance has been correctly recorded in the profile, while the altitude difference is completely wrong, because it reports a difference in height of just over 2000 meters that has nothing to do with my personal best ! Thanks

  • Hey Fiorenzo Magro

The "Biggest Climb" statistic that you find on your profile does not reflect the highest total elevation gain for a ride, but the biggest single, uninterrupted climb segment that you have completed. In order to qualify to be your Biggest Climb, that climb segment must be matched to your ride.

  • OK understood now, sorry but I had not found this explanation, now everything is clear. Thanks again. Fiorenzo

  • When you set a goal for a segment, it should show you stats that will help you reach it. Like what pace you aim for to be able to achieve it, etc.

  • On the stats page, I would like to see Monthly totals, similar to the yearly totals - based on the calendar month.

  • With the auto-pause feature, there should be an option to only treat full stops as a pause. When running, it treats stopping AND WALKING as a pause. There should be an option to not pause when moving, either running or walking.

  • With audio cues, there should be an option for it to say the current clock time after it gives distance, pace, etc.  I used to use another app that did this, and it's useful to know what time it is.

  • The app should have the ability to track a run, even when the run has been paused, or the Start button has not been tapped, and give an option to add it in. So many times, I forget to hit the Start button, or Resume button, and miss a segment of my run.

If the app could track that, and give an option when Resume is tapped and it detects that you've moved a fair distance and ask if you want to add that back in, or before Start is hit, detect motion and start tracking and when Start it tapped, ask if you want to add where motion was detected.

  • I would like to change the default activities that display in the goals section. It seems that these are hard coded to Run, Bike, Swim - and I do not swim. Would be awesome to be able to select the three that are most important to me for quick reviews and annual accumulation.

  • Hi

Would it be possible to include a rolling 12 month total for stats? Having year to date with a 1st Jan cut off feels a bit arbitrary, a rolling total would be much more useful along with the usual annual totals for previous years.

    Thanks!

  • Hi i do plogging, that is running with an plastic bag and take all kinf off garbage upp from the ground. Is it an idee to made a workout for this ? People all over the world do this!
is a bit shaming to see my run time on running. One km plogging is depending on the garbage.

  • I've been faithfully recording my cycle rides on Strava since 2012. This year with knees that are no longer able to support some of my local climbs I switched to an e-bike. To my surprise, with the motor assist turned off, it's the fastest road bike I've owned. In the UK motorised assistance is limited below 25km/hr. I don't know what percentage of my rides are above that but I suspect it's well in excess of 50%.

Until my e-bike I used segments extensively to challenge myself to improve, setting time based goals where I could.

Initially I was disappointed when I couldn't continue to compare segment times with my historical non e-bike rides but then I started to faithfully recreate e-bike segments the equivalent of my old standard road bike segments. Now I can compare - and for me it is a comparison. I know when and by how much I was motor assisted (if at all).

So the next stage was to set myself some goals to improve my segment times. No. No can do says Strava! Not allowed.

I asked support why not. Instead of answering they said "Currently, segment goals can only be created for cycling and running." I'm sorry but I still consider I'm cycling.

Please can we set goals on segments for other than cycling and running?

  • Hello All,

I would like to be able to create split training sessions directly from the mobile application or from web site and find them in the mobile app.

    Regards

  • I would like to be able to set a seasonal goal. This is specifically for winter sports that cross the annual calendar. For example nordic ski season just began (nov 2021) and when if I choose annual, all my skis from last season (jan-apr 2021) are included, making it more difficult to use STRAVA to work towards that goal.

  • Please add "Ice Hockey" to the list of activities. You currently have "Ice Skate". Would be nice if you actually had the actual sport of Hockey as its own activity. Thanks!

  • I would like to be able to track virtual rides as a goal in the same way that rides are tracked (and also perhaps remove virtual rides from the “rides” tally)

  • I would love to be able set an "overall activity time goal" that I could then use to track active hours across sports. I personally engage in a mix of cycling, yoga, running and walking, and my top 2022 exercise goal is to be active for 312 hrs (ave 1 hr 6 days a week) regardless of activity. It would be great if this information could be readily tracked and available through my strava subscription (without me having to do extra math on the side :) )

I see that Zach Violett, who's post is currently the most upvoted on this forum, asked for something similar "to be able to set certain goals across sports." I am sure that there would more people that would use this functionality if it were available - please try to add it when you can!

  • Hi Elena Szajewski thank you for this great suggestion. I have passed it along to our product team. There is a way for you to track this currently, by creating a Group Challenge with a Time Goal and including all the activity types you want. You can set it to start on January 1rst and end on December 31rst. You don't have to invite anyone else to it if you don't want to, but it will allow you to track the total time spent across all your activities. This is a mobile-only feature, click HERE for more information about the Group Challenge feature.

  • I would love to use the goal feature, but at the moment it gives me not the possibilites/combinations I want.

At the moment we can set following combination of goals:

    • Sport: Select one Sport (for example, running, hiking, Swimming,….)
    • Frequency: Weekly, Monthly, Annual
    • Type: Distance, Time, Elevation gain

I would update this possibilities the following way:

-> Sport: Add "All activities" or the possibility to multiple select some activities

-> Type: Add the possibility "number / count"

    Examples:

I would really like to set an annual goal over all actvities to reach x amount of elevation gain.

I would as well really like to set a goal for  Running, Monthly, 12 times (Number/Count of Activites)

And I would like to set something like:  „All activities“, „Annual“, „300 times“ -> to track 300 activities, of any activity type in one year.

If I could set such goals I would really use this feature. At the moment it just not supports the combinations I would like to use for my goals.

I see other users like Zach Violett or Elena Szajewski made a similar post about this topic.

  • There are several comments (and here comes another one) where users ask to be able to set multisport goals, not matter if it is on distance, elevation or time.

I guess it could be a good reason to consolidate the comments in functionality needed and add a vote on that potentially. Anyway it seem to be a frequent request so I hope also this comment can help to elevate the overall need for multisport goal setting.  In my case now I want to be able to combine time on running, biking, workout and swimming.  That would make it optimal for me in case I would hurt myself, then I can prioritize to build up strength, rather than being to fast back on running (as en example).

  • I would like to be able to specifically exclude certain activities from counting towards my goals. Alternatively, I would like activities considered "Virtual Rides" to not contribute to my "Ride" goal.

I ride my bike and I also use the Peloton sometimes. I set my Ride goal with real world riding in mind, while I personally consider the Peloton to be a different type of activity. I would like my goal to reflect only rides made outdoors, and not include spin classes. This could be accomplished by removing Virtual Rides from the Ride goal (and then personally changing the activity type of Peloton rides), or by simply adding a toggle to activities to remove them from personal goal accumulation (which would provide the maximum control for the user).

  • I have a simple request. For running goals, please add vert or total elevation as a weekly/yearly goal. Distance isn’t everything.
