  • You should be able to view your PRs by power, in addition to time. Time is subject to a whole host of variables (traffic, lights, wind etc.), but power is amuch better metric as tracking consistency. For those who have a power meter and upload power data you should be able to rank segment PRs by your power files as well as your time.

Agreed. That is what the CROP feature is for on every activity (tools menu) so that the athlete can edit and remove the part done in a car. Problem is that so many athletes do not know it is there, or how to use it and Strava does not send out notifications to users on such things.

( It is also useful to remove the start and end of your activity before making public so people can not determine where your house is. )

  • Don’t know if it’s been addressed, I would like the ability to view all my top 10 finishes on all segments completed, you can see all KOM’s achieved, if all KOM’s can be shown don’t know why top tens can’t be .

  • As mentioned above, seasonal or yearly PB's would be great.  Currently on the slow slog back to fitness after a long injury enforced break.  I've got no chance of either segment or distance PR's for the foreseeable future so it would be great to have it at least have something pop up saying "Best time this year" or "Fastest 5km of 2021" etc.

  • Hi,

I think it would save time for both user and Strava support team if you allowed users to remove Best Efforts that are inaccurate.

Let's be honest we are all dealing with GPS issues. We can try and reduce any inaccurate recording of data, but in reality it will happen to everyone.

It seems pointless having Strava support team deal with this enquiry when it can be simply removed by the user.

    Regards,
    Dan

  • ^ segment leaderboards are already filterable by all time/this year, overall, age, gender and weight ...how many more "levels" do you want ?

And how would you put people in categories ? If you use an official category, which I assume your example of Diamond, Bronze is, they will not be universal across the world.  IMHO, letting people compare their performance against others in the same age or weight group, as well as overall, should be more than enough.

  • E-bikes in MTB segments and/or Bike activities in run segments

I suggest that you implement an Artificial Intelligence policy in the analysis of segment achievements. The mountain bike segments are being invaded by ebikes, as well as some of run activities that are made by bicycle.
It is not difficult to do this analysis and correct this problem. I know that I can flag the activity and I do that. But the number of wrong activity types are growing. I'm suggesting that you can implement some type of analyses using artificial intelligence to do that work.
I inform you that I am extremely unhappy with the situation, so the premium subscription for me no longer makes sense, as I use live segments a lot and it's not funny anymore and loses all its functionality.

  • Rather that demand some form of AI to determine who is using an ebike, I want to ask "can I stop being accused of riding one?"

I did a short ride today on a '94 stumpjumper - 2 miles at 6mph and yet still I'm being accused of being on an ebike. Why me? Is it a naive "maximum power output" threshold I'm triggering?

    https://www.strava.com/activities/5095678529

Trying to work out what is e-bike vs pedalled is going to be hard, but while I thought it was amusing the first time I was accused of being on a battery, it gets a bit repetitive after a while. I don't have an ebike, if you look at my time on any segment vs the value 8 years ago -it will have got worse.

If is just power, how about including: heart rate, history PR on the same climb. And maybe consider a journey with an average speed of 5.6mph isn't likely to be involving a motor

  • Improve accuracy of Estimated Best Efforts by including elevation as a factor

I was recently looking at a run upload that seemed suspicious. What caught my eye was that despite being a run of over 30 miles, the runner achieved elite-level best efforts in the 1k and 1mi distances. I considered flagging, but on further inspection of splits I discovered that every anomalous fast mile was performed over an elevation drop of 100-170 feet. While this made the run itself seem more likely genuine, it also showed that the best effort estimation does not discriminate based on grade. Best efforts can be an interesting way to represent a runner's strength when they don't have verified PRs, but they can be misleading too if a runner is hitting their best marks on massive downhills.

The easy solution might be to just not calculate best efforts on sections with negative grade beyond a certain threshold, but of course this would disfavor runners who regularly train in hilly regions. Alternatively, perhaps you could make use of the grade-adjusted pace tool you already have and translate GPS data to a flat effort estimation.

  • With the increasing popularity of e-bikes, segment achievements are becoming more and more meaningless for true athletes. Unless Strava does something to distinguish between genuine segment efforts on human powered bicycles and those using e-bikes, this app is becoming less relevant to those who helped make it great in the first place.

All too often, e-bike riders are uploading their activities as standard cycling activities instead of an e-bike ride. Of course there is a space for e-bike riders on Strava but more and more, regular riders are constantly getting alerts that an e-biker has taken their KOM. It's very disheartening for those who use the app as a training tool towards fitness improvements.

I appreciate that it will be very difficulat to design an app to detect between a genuine bike ride and one done on an e-bike, but I do have a suggestion that I feel is one that will help cut down on the number of incorrectly logged ride actitivities.....
The default ride category following immediate upload of a cycle activity should be switched to "e-bike". This way, riders who have genuinely ridden on a self-propelled bicycle can switch their activity accordingly. These riders, due to their dedication to fitness are more likely to log their activity correctly than the casual e-bike rider who either is not quite as tech savvy, can't be bothered or who just likes causing other cyclists anguish.

It's an interim measure that will resolve a lot of the frustration currently eperienced by both fitness cyclists and e-bike riders. It equates to less KOM loss chatter to self-powered cycle riders and less flagging of e-bike riders. A win win all round! I hope you agree and see to it that this change has mileage. Thank you.

  • Strava please create a view to allow us to see where we are currently ranked on Segments.

I imagine the existing 'Segment Search' table with "KOM, Best Effort, Leaderboard Rank" added to the table, with the ability to search by your current rank or a range, ability to search by time difference from KOM, etc.

This concept is raised in some form several times in this thread and would greatly improve the user experience with Segments and best efforts. It can help people find segments to target for the KOM or for personal improvement.

  • Hi Laura Flint! Thanks for your feedback on adding an option for our users to remove inaccurate best efforts that are caused by poor GPS data. I'll share your suggestion with our Product Team for future improvements. In the meantime, I went ahead and created a support ticket for you so that we can take a look at the activity in question and remove the recent inaccurate best efforts you mentioned. Thanks!

  • Please can you make it possible to view achievements by equipment. I'd like to be able to compare my performance on multiple bikes. To be able to see the following would help:

1 - PRs displayed by bike

2 - Segment time comparisons by bike.

  • Last week I was informed I set my 3rd best time for 400m. That info is super helpful but it just left me looking for more, especially what is my best 400m time?

    1) When you post this is the 3rd best time you should also post a link to the 1st best time

    2) It should be listed in the best times or in a new insights tab that lists all your best times and graphs them over time.

  • Why is it not possible to see my "best efforts" to compare to the current one? For example, if I get "2nd best estimated Half-Marathon effort" I expect to be able to click on it and see other efforts, when they were etc., similar to segments.

  • Hi !

In our profile under statistics, we can see our very best PRs, but since Strava give ''medals'', could we also have a way to see what our top 3 performances are for a given distance ?

    Thank you,

  • night time segments ? Sorry, but IMHO that's just a waste of electrons. From a practical point of view, first you will have to convince Garmin, Wahoo, and everybody else whose head units recognise Strava segments that they have to rewrite the software in their head units to ignore day segments at night, and vice versa. If you just use the Strava app on your phone, well Strava can do what they want with the data but how are they going to calculate day or night rides ? You really think their servers have the capacity to work out if it is dark or light when you ride ? What happens if you ride in to a state/province that has a different time zone ?

It's really simple KOMs are for men and QOM's are for women. Strava is extremely even handed in it's approach. Either there should be no distinction at all, or we should keep the current system.

Strava does not treat a KOM any differently to a QOM, they are equal. To suggest otherwise is frankly sexist. You seem to be suggesting that there is a hierarchy and that a QOM is somehow inferior to a KOM.

Perhaps there could be an XOM or something but this would always be identical to either the KOM or QOM, so I'm not really sure I see the point. Getting a QOM is just as much "credit" as a KOM, be proud of that.

Night time achievements sound like a lot of bother.

Light levels can't be calculated purely on time of day and frankly many segments are likely to be faster in the dark due to lack of traffic, etc.

There are much more important things for Strava to address before this sort of thing is even considered.

  • Carolyn Elliott - I really don't see why they should change anything.  It seems very simple.  KOM is defined as KING of the mountain, QOM is defined as QUEEN of the mountain.  They are simple gender notations, nothing more.  Nothing is saying KOM is better in any way than QOM.  Why would a female want to be listed as a King?  If you look at the leaderboard and a female has the fastest time, it lists the QOM at the top of the leaderboard where it belongs.  I would say that stands out more than if it were tagged with "KOM" and overlooked by most assuming it was a guy (because it says King of the Mountain, not because it is at the top of the list).

  • Recently, CR - Course Record - got merged with XOM, even for flat segments. It looks like a mistake, as X 'of the mountain' is incorrect if there is no mountain. Course record is a universal term so if it has to be a single term, then take that one.

  • Barry Gray I try to explaining about virtual KOM´s with unrealistic low or high power:

    1. Zwift speed glitch (happens by accident - you speed up to 100km/h or more...)
    Example: https://www.strava.com/activities/3144797408/analysis

    2. meet up´s (with "keep all together" function activated)
you only need one rider suffering a speed glitch or unrealic high power numbers (see 4.) to speed up the hole group and showing all participents high in Segment rankings.
    Example: https://www.strava.com/activities/4016756931/analysis

    3. group workouts (with "keep all together" function activated) - same as 2.

    4. inaccurate setup showing 1200W or 2000W by accident (depending on model)
even zwift´s alert triangle and breaking due to "cone" is not sufficient to avoid those people taking several segments.
    Example: https://www.strava.com/activities/3221254319/analysis

    5. Zpower (estimating poweroutput by speed/cadence sensor -> higher cadence gives you unrealistic power output)
https://www.strava.com/activities/3028400446/analysis (compare cadence with power graph)

Those 5 reasons happens mostly by accident, but of course some peoble use it with intention, same as weight or hight settings...

As zwift unfortunatly shows no interest in slowing those errors down, it would need some automated tool by strava to solve the issue with segment rankings full of unrealistic efforts. So what still exists for outdoor cycling whould be needed for virtual cycling even more.

Another (and general) topic is the handling with flagging virutal activities:
There are so many activities who where flagged by the community multiple times, but were resolved by strava support which makes it impossible to flag them again. This issue upsets a lot of users like you can see on innumerable comments and negative feedback out of the communty.
    Example: https://www.strava.com/activities/651778151#52074350963

Would be easy to resolve, but would need strava to take action - let´s hope strava will help their image by improving transperency in virtual activities, too!

  • Tony Phillips you are right, IMHO, but don't get your hopes up that Strava will change anything soon. I've said it before, and I'll say it again ....Zwifting in your air-conditioned home is completely different to doing the same distance in the real world, with traffic, potholes, headwinds, heat or cold, and stray dogs etc to worry about.

  • Would like to request a feature.

Please add a "consecutive days of activity" count.

This could be combined effort, or for individual activities. There should be a minimum required effort of distance and/or time.
Thinking 1 mile minimum or 20 minutes minimum.

The training log is just so so. Would be nice to just have a place that shows "consecutive days of activity"

  • I would like the ability to exclude specific gear from my segment records. I ride several bikes all of which have different characteristics and use an ebike for commuting. I still want to be able to record those rides (I use a heart rate tracker to help manage my calorie intake vs usage, so this is important to me), but don't want to include them in my achievements. It would also be useful to filter based on the gear used.

  • Create yearly trophies on segments...Some of the "All-Time" PRs are no longer accurate as the trails change over time and are unattainable or completely inaccurate.

This way, this could be a cool feature to see how many yearly trophies you can capture and add to your trophy count within your profile along side of challenge trophies. Gives people a push and new option to chase each and every year

  • I am using an e-bike beside my regular bike and always categorize my e-bike rides that way. But since some time these rides pop-up in segments and in my stats. That's annoying, because I don't want to compare the speed on my e-bike with my regular bike.

I also see that on the segment my e-bike ride is compared with regular rides for other users.

See the screenshot below for what I mean. I am using Strava in the Netherlands.

  • Flat segments (sprints), should not have KOM so introduce Maillot Vert or MV

For very long segments (kms), do not have KOM but introduce Maillot Jaune or MJ

If you equal a KOM it does not show in the headlines or KOM/CR tab, so introduce a KOMe (equals) which is still well deserved. Similarly MVe and MJe
